Oh my goodness your music! The section of music starting at about 3:45, is often played at the end of your videos. It's so beautiful and sweeping. I've always wondered if you had written it. I’m a born and raised Chicagoan, and have returned after many years in Tennessee. My favorite way of enjoying a snowy day is to wrap up in a warm blanket, nestled on the couch with a hot cup of tea, a good audiobook, and my crocheting!
When I was twelve, Santa brought me a pair of ice skates, hoping to get me more interested in going outside in the winter…I think I skated twice! NOT my gig! 😅

I grew up on a lake and grew up ice skating. But then a lot of my friends in the neighborhood moved away and I gained weight. I remember ice skating at 18 with a school friend after a few years of not going. There are moments when the ice shifts and cracks underneath you, which is normal. But I started skating for shore and my friend said she had never seen me move so fast!😅

I live in Cleveland, OH and I remember much snowier winters in the 60's when I was in grade school. We've had much milder winters in the intervening years but it seems to be picking up again. Last year we had one big storm that put down about 16", we got about a foot last week and they are predicting another foot or two in the next few days.

The more time goes on, the deeper snowfalls get.

I live in New Jersey, we've got a bit of snow right now, too. More than a bit, I guess. I had an appointment with a new doctor yesterday, and parked in the wrong parking lot. I had to cross what I assume is normally a grassy area to get where I needed to be. I underestimated the depth of the snow drift, and ended up in snow past my knees. That was...unpleasant. I really enjoy your videos and humor. I left Chicago 48 years ago for Michigan. Over here across the lake from you, we have Polar Plunge events in February mostly. In fact, in my area we are in the midst of our Winter Fest celebration, a week of winter events. One of those events, usually on a Saturday is the polar plunge contest. A large hole is cut into the ice and contestants jump into the cold lake water (Crystal Lake) and swim across the hole, which is really only a short distance. We do a lot of ice fishing here as well. Every inland lake has dozens of fishing shanties strewn across the 'best' fishing spots. The best winter festivities , or maybe the largest event, not necessarily the best, happens in Frankenmuth in February. People come form all over the country to participate in the ice sculpture contest. Anyhow, say hello to the hawk, I don't miss it.

Snow is great when it first comes down, but then when it starts becoming any color other than it’s natural one (gray, black… yellow) then you want it to either melt, or get covered with new clean snow. Lately here in New York any rumor of snow or ice, they immediately put down enough salt that the blacktop turns freakishly white! The latest blizzard was undeterred, and the snow eventually piled up so much that the plows were not helping because it would come right back behind them.

Snow in Chicagoland, Tonight!!! 🥶 I tell myself that it is necessary so that plant life has a decent permafrost. It's better than living in Southern States that have Alligators and Snakes that creep into the yards. And when it seems too cold I remind myself of those high Summer temps, during droughts. When even the AC barely brings comfort. In Winter you can put more clothes on but, in the Summer you can take off only so much. Winter is a great time for baking, indoor projects and crafts and time spent in the Museums and Aquariums and such. (if they're open, now..)

Many years ago I was with a friend a Lincoln Park Zoo. She knew someone who worked with the penguins. So we got to hang out in the back with the penguins. I held a small one and I have a picture with my arm around a big one like he was my buddy.

Greetings, Lawrence. In L.A. there are times it has snowed. Once every decade. The last one occurred in 1949 (No, I wasn't born yet). So as of this writing we have a snow drought. Nothing since the 40's. However, in the leocal mountains you will find snow at around the 1500 ft and up above sea level. Now if you want take a drive north, head up to Mammoth Lake mountains. I love the snow when visiting it for a short time. Longer, ah no. My grandparents, aunt and Mom left New Jersey to escape the snow. They settled in L.A. until their passing.

Greetings from MD, by way of PA! Wow, Chicago is beautiful in the snow! Great video! Its great watching you lean into the winter. Proper gear makes all the difference! Just a tip: if you don't have proper snow boots, you can wrap and tie plastic bags on your feet before putting on your shoes. It will reduce the risk of wet feet.
    Love the music!

Nice! As someone who moved from the north to the south, I do appreciate where I live when I see the snow covering everything, but I do sometimes miss the winter scenery sometimes. I miss walking through the snowy woods and past the ice covered trees that looked silver in some lighting. Then I come to my senses remembering the snow shoveling and the plow plowing us in and having to dig out the driveway multiple times a day. Plus having to drive through it to work. I miss the scenery, but don't miss having to get through it.
    Nice music BTW!

I truly think you are right about far more snow years ago. I asked my mother once if we truly did have more or was it just a child's memory. But she agreed. We used to have snow on the ground from Thanksgiving to Easter. As an older adult now, I'm grateful for the memories of it. And more grateful that we don't have as much. Snow can turn to ice quite easily and I've already proven to ice that it wins.

Lawrence... I live in the Chicago metropolitan area and I LOVE your videos! Yes, we have crappy winters, and, yes, they're a pain in the a-double s. But you show them "as they are." You don't "accentuate" for effect. Your videos are a prime example of "It is what it is."" and, for that, I love you!
    Bless your "truth-telling" heart!

I grew up in the 70's ... and I remember many a winter building snow forts with my brother... sledding down some monster snow mountains built in the church parkinglot across the street... going to the park and sledding... having snowball fights with some of the neighborhood kids. Building a huge snow tunnel from our driveway to the neighbors thru the mound of snow between them... and having regular bad nosebleeds due to the dry air...

The New Year blizzard of 98/99 made me move. Haven't seen snow in 20+ years. I was walking on Clark St, outside Graceland cemetery and couldn't cross the street cuz they plowed and the snow was up over my head. I don't miss the snow for a second. I joke now that the only snow in my life is SnoCones. :)
