A side trip to Stewart BC / Hyder AK is a must do if you're in the area. Of particular interest is the Fish Creek Wildlife Observation Site if you visit during salmon spawning time.

What time of the year were you there?

We were there around Sept 10th. It was one of our favorite places to visit on our trip north. I understand bears are hit and miss but we got lucky and saw bears several times. Unfortunately, the weather was bad and we didn't go to Salmon Glacier so I guess we have a good reason to go back.
