This was a time where F1s had active suspension, electronic throttle, ABS... it was getting too expensive to make a competitive car, so the FIA decided to ban all these gadgets, and by 1994 the cars were much more simple. In fact the FW15C is considered the most advanced race car of the world.
Was that the first F1 car with fully automatic transmission option? Was it used in any race or just tested? I'm not considering brake assistant (which was used at least by Williams and McLaren from 93 as we can see in some onboard videos).
all you need to do is to have 3 gears, with two gears for starting off and the third one attached to a CVT and you can just stay on 3rd gear the whole time
That's not how CVT works. Gears have a fixed torque conversion factor. CVT keeps not only the RPMs in the preferred range, it also maximises torque by actually varying the gearing. It's as if it has infinite gears.
Perbeer, I had uploaded a video of Van Doorne, the builder of CVT with 35 minutes of footage, inlcuding large amount of testing by Williams and David, like your video, but more, but it got banned by statistics@fomltd as being copyright infringing... Van Doorne does not exist anymore. Have you had similar claims to ban your video, as I am thinking to file against them to have the video activated again. Does anyone know? Don't think statistics @ fomltd owns that footage, is no copyright in video.
Imagine the cvt being used today cars will be much faster since cvt is stepless shifting the rpm wont drop when shifting up.What is the definition of racing to shift gear and have balls of steel or the race to improve racing texhnology really depends on perspective.

wheres the rest of this video. I want more.

I don’t think it was ever raced, just banned as soon as it was tested
DC's head was even more rectangle back then!
What is DC with his head in a manhole?
Trying to push a square peg into a round hole.
They must try it again in F1!
christiandoritos, no way! embrace technology.
Ilove formula 1 I world love the chance to drive this formula 1 car just for the experience
This is a dutch invention of DAF, car models DAF 33, 55, 66 was standard with this Variomatic transmission
Pretty sure the F1 version was beefed up and improved upon compared to the DAF versions.
@@paulmichaelfreedman8334 correct.. the setup used by Williams was a "van Doorne transmissie"
Ohhhh the young coulthar
Nice Video with a young David :)
This is So Damned Cool!
Mate, are you able to upload it somewhere else? I would REALLY love that, since so little is known about Williams CVTs system!
cvt trans. is a fun idee, but only for mickey mouse cars. the futur is with the dual clutch.
More video?

Or just use the cvt right away? This would make it more complicated than necessary.

Is this the only available footage of this test?

What's the relation?
Because FIA banned it
Dats graate mann - said with a Scottish accent
Sounds like a jet engine
lol gran turismo 6 with automatic transmission
thank god they banned these cars. the car drove itself. not racing
