@@BusGreaseMonkey That is a GREAT video and it explains why your camera shots and videos are so clear and well done. A lot of folks could benefit by watching how you shoot and edit your videos. Great stuff.
Moving the exhaust stopped it from getting soot on the side. Tyler is natural double clutcher!!!! Sitting on the passengers side probably feels like riding on the back of your own Harley!
The bus rides are fun dont stop making them it's great to watch, listen to the commentary, and the best part hearing the Detroit and the Column shifting !!
Those old trains you pointed at belong to the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway, it runs from Nelsonville Ohio to Logan Ohio. Back in the 1970's - 80's the train ran to the south of Nelsonville and passed 15 feet from my grandma's porch... and it was a steam locomotive they used back then!
Yeah Wanderloge. Cannot wait. I had to put a core into my radiator last month. Thanks to you I knew what to do. New core and gaskets and stainless steel bolts. It weights 400lbs. Used my engine crane to get it most of the weigh home.
"Keep on keepin on", enjoying the 671 units. Had a pair in our salvage boat, swapped out to a pair of 8V92TI units, jeez, now those swing serious props at low rpm's. Great vids, would still enjoy twisting wrenches but age and to much knuckle-busting took its tole on the back and digits. Drive on...
Scott , that rail line you passed in Logan I worked as a locomotive mechanic and the last 11 years of my career as an engineer . It currently is in commercial use all the way to Columbus . From Logan south to Nelsonville it is operated as The Hocking Valley Scenic excursion where the public can ride their trains . Anyway I enjoy your videos , wishing you and your family safe travels and a good Thanksgiving .
Bus Grease Monkey he should have swerved while you were in the can. That would have been priceless. Like being in an airliner lav when it encounters turbulence. I’ve had that happen to me
Talk about "like father .. like son" ... OMG, you could hardly tell who was behind the wheel !! P.S. ... Glad to hear Kelly is still around and talking ... some people thought we scared her off with our comments, but I figured she had tougher skin than most gave her credit for. I will apologize, right now, however, if she took my joking around the wrong way. I am sorry, Kelly, as you are a fun and integral part of the Bus Grease Monkey team. I owe you and your crew a nice meal if you're ever in one of my usual truck stops. Safe travels. :)
When I have to park my H3-45 in a place like Walmart I’ll always take about 1/2 of the parking spot in front and 1/2 of the space behind me. If not, there’s always someone who wants to park in the space right in front of my bus. Even if you’re all the way out in the lot somewhere there’s always one goober that wants to pin you in. People in 4-wheelers act stupid anytime they get near a bus.
I’m sure Lenny don’t mind I’m a Patreon I’m a caregiver for my wife who has Huntington disease I may have said that in previous post your channel helps me
The belt scene illustrates why the 4101-2-3, despite being less."luxurious" than the 3751, was pretty popular with primary and secondary operators...no belts. GM decided that maintenance costs of belt drives was a concern for operators both in the bus and rail industries. Both GM Truck and Coach and Electro-Motive converted their products to gear drive at about the same time, 1946-49. The PD-4101 went to all gear drive accessories, both on the prime mover and the AC unit in 1946 They missed drive belt on the evaporator fan motor, though! I seem to remember GM T&C going all gear drive on the transits in '47, back when they started their "streetcar elimination" sales campaign, which later was the nexus of some contentious lawsuits which GM lost. EMD made the change on their F2 freight road units in 1946, and the passenger E8s in 1949, both using pancake fan motors developed by Delco for EMD. GM made a big deal about this new cost saving design...so that the buyer would pay GM more up front, rather than pay Gates Rubber later. The conversion helped boost reliability which helped both GM Coach and EMD to be the runaway leaders in their markets. Both lost those positions when GM started its downward management spiral, with MCI running GM out of the bus business, and GE doing the same to EMD later. GM had become entitled and complacent, and competition ate their lunch across the board.
How I would love to experience driving a bus like yours. From an era of engineering that I fear is long since gone as it encompassed both function and form. They look as good as they work.
Tyler, hang the flag on your front porch so the union is on your left if you’re hanging it on a wall. According to the flag code, the union should always be at the top of the flag and to the observer’s left when it’s being displayed on a wall
G'day Kevin from Australia. I love this bus your working on i keep imagining all that aluminum polished up . She'll look sweet. I like your wife's feet better .🤣✌
I will guess: Social justice warrior sees how the bus took all those parking spots and showed you that you have to park some way that would satisfy their lousy life.
I will forever kick myself for not just buying this bus when I had the chance, too worried about tools, time & distance. I'd never have assumed Scott would have the availability to get on it right away like this.
I think the best way to look after these old vehicles is to run them gently, don't hammer the living daylights out of them, simply let them cruise down the highway in top gear at around 55 mph, the engine will happily find its sweet spot and once there will run and run. 1000 to 1500 RPM and she'll sing all day long
Right?. People always told me i had the same thing with my father. Specially when we briefly worked together. so seeing this gives me their perspective a lil.
Do you make a punch list on all that’s needed to be done to get the bus road worthy. So much for one to remember, a computer punch list might help, considering sharing down parts to save time, just a thought, great full for your compassion, when you love the work, it’s not work😅
There is or was a paylake over there in Belpre Ohio, that I used to go too, well it’s been years since I’ve been there, but, Catfishermans Paradise is the name of it. The same folks have another one over in Camden Ohio ( just outside Somerville), and it’s CP2. Anyway, you all probably not gonna be very far from CP in Belpre. Take care y’all! Peace ✌🏻
Richard S I once backed a Honda Accord backwards about 8 ft. W/mcidl3 in downtown Boston. Bus in front of me no parking signs behind me groups a waiting I had to go.
I wondered what part of Indiana y'all lived in. Now I know. Howdy from Canton, Indiana in Washington County. So, was that part of the Hocking Valley scenic railway where those Pullman cars were at?
Looking at that Bus on classic truck rescue, it has cast alloy heater ducts on the dash and lenny doesn't. Is it just another GM thing where improvementswere added throughout production ?
Did I miss where you changed the exhaust? Sounds much quieter (I like a quieter exhaust, but only because I think about how the noisy one would "exhaust" me.)
What is up with the purple film on the bottom of the driver's window? Seems a strange place to put it. Was that on there when you got the bus and it has some sentimental meaning?

Very different driving video -- no pink shoe laces. And watch out for those Hocking Hills. Many years ago I found a wife there and lived to regret it.
It's even worse when you are towing a car and they pin you in. You can't back up.
You should be legally allowed to shove the offending car out of the way. Perhaps a Road Armor or Ibis Tek front bumper
Scott, this was great. Make the kid chauffeur you around, kick back and relax
