Boat Life doesn't get much better than this - Sailing SE Asia Ep.60

- We find the BEST TROPICAL REEF we have ever seen. Squid hunting around us, Manta Rays up close and personal, and a huge variety of vibrant coral. After seeing the Komodo Dragons in the last episode we dive over the side to see what the Komodo National Park has to offer under the water, making the most of being live aboards in Komodo.
We are a British couple who set off from England in 2016 to fulfill our dream of sailing around the world on our 37ft sail boat, Florence. Along the way we share the live aboard lifestyle with the highs and lows of travelling around the world by boat.

Man O man ! ! ! , Oh man o rays ! You two have done it again ! Just Beautiful ! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful videos! So professional ! ! Keep up the good work and happy sailing .
I know I'm 18 months late to the party, but just felt I had to comment on how wonderful these videos are! I'm binge watching these videos as fast as my spare time allows, and loving every minute!
Older folks like me owe a debt to super-fit kids like yourselves who can show us these underwater wonders. Thank you. 😁✌🌅
As a young kid I was always glued to a tv program called The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau. I was mesmerised by what he showed us and made me want to be a marine biologist...sadly I never pursued that dream. Fast forward 51 years...you are so so priveleged to explore so many reefs and experience the wonderful marine life. I love eveything you show from the giant clams to clown fish and majestic manta rays. Thanks so much for sharing and for taking me back to my early years. 😊😊😊
Spectacular underwater scenery
wow ive never seen squid hunt before . excellent video thanks
whale sharks and manta rays, that video was amazing.
This is as good quality as anything on Amazon.
Very lovely episode...Mantas and squids...lovely underwater shots!
Well done
Love your videos...
The video, the music, the editing. You guys get better all the time :)
more specifically not cheesy w/ even more cheesy voice overs
Your camera work and editing are some of the best out there. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos
I love your channel! I’ve watched all the episodes up to #60-and will keep going. This episode is one of my faves. I just watched “40 most popular sailing youtubers...” and added this comment: Sailing Yacht Florence is up there with Gone With The Wynns, Sailing Uma, Sailing La Vagabonde, and a few others that I watch on your top 40 list.
Absolutely love all the underwater action with the Rays!!! 🐾👣
That's the spirit... Love how you guys get distracted on boat chores to enjoy the little things!!
Hi Camila, Yesterday we looked over the side and saw a big dirty black smudge in the water, our first thought was pollution. Then out of the black smudge swam a turtle with what had to be a squid in it's mouth, the smudge must have been squid ink. The turtle floated just 2 meters from Florence eating it's meal, before swimming back into the depths. Pretty cool to see. :-)
@@SailingYachtFlorence What an awesome thing to see!! Nature watching, at its best, is quite heartwarming!!
A very well made video as are all the others. Thank you for sharing your travels with the world.
Bringing happy memories to us from when we were there. We didn’t have a channel at that time, so watching yours reminds us ;) There are few places as nice as where you are now. Enjoy it. Don’t rush past! -Rebecca
Beautiful underwater photography. Seems like protected waters are necessary to preserve at least some abundance of sea life.
Just beautiful. Nature is so awesome, as are you both for showing us a snippet of this wonderful underwater life. Thank you.
Beautiful manta rays near beginning and 9:30, 10:40. Pretty fish and underwater at 7:15. She is pretty at 13:10 with braided hair. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful water shots. Thanks. Had to laugh at "Do you want bread?" "I'm not saying anything!"
The bread line was great
What an amazing experience! Thank you for taking us along. ❤️
Again, thank you for doing what you do. Much love and tight lines from New Zealand.
You always leave me wanting more but I suppose I should get over that. Many sailing channels show a litany of disaster and angst in their videos while the best you guys could come up with was having a dig at each other over flour every where below but your bread looked amazing. Well worth the mess just as your videos are well worth watching for all the content you cram into them. Thanks guys.
Another outstanding episode, thanks as always. You guys are the best!
That large yacht is *amazing*; so large, sleek and elegant! Maybe one day ...
$10 mil.
@Dongs Travels Thanks for the link. Pretty much the first time I have considered licking the screen of my laptop - a stupendous boat.
Looks like a VERY fun trip. Thanks for taking us along........
A great video! Stunning views of the coral and super high definition. I like the style of your comments!
Extraordinarily diving indeed,so glad your finding and enjoying these places🙂
I really like the narration threw out your videos. Makes them so much more interesting. Others could learn from it. Great job.
Another brilliant episode, thank you.
That underwater footage was stunning! Thank you!
Thanks for yet another lovely video to bring sun to a grey Scandinavian autumn day.
Beautiful Reef! Great photo work Florence Crew!
Not sure what you guys plan when you get back eventually but a career with Attenborough and his team beckons ... your videos are just so professional now, light years ahead of other channels ..
Thanks Andy, no-idea what we will do when we return yet we still have 3 years to go at this, hopefully we can continue to improve.
I always look forward to your videos. Great Work!
great vid great channel more vids please
Love Komodo!
I wonder why anyone would give this a thumbs down?
Probably accidentally hit the wrong button... small phone and fat fingers are the only rational explanation
fantastic underwater videos
Awesome reef indeed! With so much to see, so much color and manta rays. Just amazing! Ps. And one of your best videos too!
Yet another fantastic video. I sincerely hope that you are going to write a book about your adventures. Not only would it make for a fascinating read but would be a great resource for those who want to follow in your "footsteps". Thanks once again.
Great episode! 👍👍 Thank you
Thank you very much for another excellent and beautiful video!!
BEAUTIFUL !!!!, you certainly know that we watch you and we thank you for sharing
Shame they are not that keen on selfies 😂😂
Thank you for sharing. Your channel is uniquely and amazingly genuine and carries some of the most beautiful pictures!
The jellyfish are so beautiful. How do you avoid getting stung? Wonderful video once again. I am loving following your travels and experiences. ❤
you guys are the best ! ..... so relaxed !!!...awseome shots of the manta rays !!
The under water footage is superb
Great video!♥️
Pepper corns. yikes. Last week I spilled tapioca balls on the kitchen floor. TY for sharing.
Awesome dive. Love how you use the light in capturing that gorgeous reef. Great job.
Great video guys!
AWESOME! 😀😀😀 ......and Florence at 7 - 7.5 knots. Can't wait for the whale sharks next time.
Catching up...
Wonderful, here I am scraping old antifoul off my Sadler in the yard on Wallasey island, its wet and miserable but am I down hearted after watching your adventures... too bloody right!.. Still summer will come around again. All the very best to you both.
Don't be down hearted. It is wet here too, and we are dripping with sweat just sat in front of the computer editing video. Maybe we should exchange some heat/cold ;-)
Nice
Aaaaaaawsome guys👍👍 thank you for sharing.
Terrific episode, wonderful underwater shots. Thanks, too, to your sea pals.:¬) Webhead USA
Thanks that was a beautiful Video
I just made my first voyage from Townsville to Middle Percey Island and found your memento
The big sailing boat looked like AQUIJO with masts 97 meters high. Currently in the West Indies having cruised up through the islands to the North of Australia, crossed the Indian ocean and rounded the Cape of good Hope. It anchored in the bay, below our home on Waiheke Island, for quite a while in January this year -I have a night time photo with the boat's profile on Marine Traffic.
As you have missed a few places you will have to go back round again.
Hi Andrew, sounds like a good excuse for a second lap to us... ;-)
awe! can we have the longer version please? and the whale shark?! call this a teaser... thanks Matt and Amy! fair winds
Nice video!
Good vid ya'll.
I told you so! 😊
The boat at 3:30 looks like the same boat that was at the Cape Town international Boat show in October, it is in the background of some of our videos
Our time was short, so we did not get an opertunity to film the monter yatch
Apparently it costs £400000 per week to charter, and it dosent fit under the bridge at the Panama canal and has a crew of 17 to feed
Not sure if I included the whole, part of it is there in my video of the Scape 40'
We enjoy your guys videos👌👌👍👍
Yep, I'd agree with @pete perlitz! Another great episode guys. I must say that Indonesia looks fantastic and I'm almost tempted to go "the wrong way round" to get there sooner lol!
Don't rush, just saviour looking forward to it as you enjoy exploring your way across the pacific!
@@SailingYachtFlorence yeah, I know. Anyway, I'm setting off at Easter but going to spend Brexit transition in the Mediterranean before we have to bother about Schengen dodging 🙄
I was eager to get your next vlog as I had heard of a pretty big off shore earthquake in Indonesia. I was concerned for you. Were you any where near that occurrence? Loved your excellent video as usual.
Hi Dan, We are ahead of our videos on the water so are clear of Indonesia now, but thanks for your concern and kind comment. :-)
Please make longer videos, too short. But nice
...you're coming near to my home...
Hi I like your dinghy, what brand is it.thanks
Is that the below deck sailing yacht at 3:45??
Calamari for dinner ? 😛
Not in a marine park, they were teasing us because they knew they were safe ;-)
Yep, as expected - this underwater footage is amazing. You should check out MantaTrust on insta (instagram.com/mantatrust/). I'm sure they'd love to use some of your footage and drive more traffic to your feeds.

What was the boat in the back ground at 11:14?
Looks like a Wharram design Catamaran.
It was just one of the big mono live-aboard dive boats, there are a lot of them in Komodo but you see less and less as you get further from Luban Bajo. They are much easier on the eye than a more modern tourist trip boat though!
On a boat, I would certainly not wear a bikini (we are alone on a boat!), but people can do it, if they prefer.
What make is your dinghy I would really appreciate
Hi Sean, Our dinghy is a nesting 9ft spindrift design from B&B yacht designs, she was built for us by Amy's Dad. There is some more information about our dinghy on our written blog here: sailwiththeflo.wordpress.com/our-dinghy/
Do you ever get stung by the jelly fish?
Sometimes but those ones didn't sting us. We have only been badly stung once and that was by a stray drifting tentacle, (we didn't see that jellyfish).
Should of had the squid jig in
Hi John, We think the Squid knew they were safe in the National park, no fishing allowed unless you live there!
@@SailingYachtFlorence Oh ok sorry missed that bit👍
My audio is not much good, Im working on a better system, Bluetooth headphones sounds good
Did you catch an squid for dinner?
Hi Roger, the Squid waved the national park flag, no fishing unless you are a local and we can't get away with posing as locals!
:-)
1st comment
seeing whale sharks would certainly be worth it. Abusing Water Buffalo , not so much.
