We have specific machines for sound film.

Tough! Is there really not a single chemical way to make it elastic again so that it does not crack and it is possible to digitize the damaged image “as is” so that at least something is visible? It's a shame to lose part of the story entirely like this.

Yep, shame! No way coming back from that unless each frame is scanned on a flat bed without crumbling and then stitching together.
