You mentioned how cc in smite is super powerful compared to other games and I disagree. I hope you can elaborate for me because I just can't see it. Especially when the most popular game in the world, league of legends, has cc that can last up to 3 seconds without a beads relic or diminishing returns. Not to mention most characters in league do not have cc-immune ults. As someone who's played both the games at a high level, I just can't see it.
When is someone gonna tell the OP on this reddit post that most if not all of the major content creators on Smite are Masters or GM level and generally know what theyre talking about, the only two that weren't (Mythymoo and Punkduck) are long gone for different reasons.
The issue with that though is the games very different at that level of play compared to just the general community's level. Hence why most games that have both competitive and casual need to listen to both sides on things.
In that same subreddit, I saw a guy arguing that Golden Blade needs a buff because Qins does more damage. I'm not even a huge SMITE player, if I applied myself to ranked I might get plat lol. But that is an insane amount of ignorance of items and their purpose. The reddit is to be ignored, even my friend who only started playing August laughs at them and they're not even super into the game.
Yeah. Reddit guys being reddit guys. Good point at the end about how pushing back is not inherently bad. Sometimes you gotta stand on business and put the complainers/naysayers in their places. Super well-articulated. I related hard. The guy is like "you won't say that combat blink did NOT benefit Zeus and Anubis" as if that was the linchpin of his argument.
17:08 Hussars Wing is already an active that does something similar! However it's more of a tank item stat wise so it would be interesting to make it more DPS focused
That thing he said about the double blink is from season 5ish. When you could buy a single use combat blink plus other relics for gold. Only lasted a couple months because having a bunch of purchasable relics was op
my biggest issue with combat blink is that because it can be used in combat, it has to have a much shorter range and a much longer cooldown. i wish that i had the option to get a blink that has the in-combat restriction but can be allowed to have a much longer range and 90 or 120 second cooldown
I just KNEW this was coming soon 😭 pop off brother Edit: after watching the video (MA IM ON RUclips), one thing that I think a lot of people are sleeping on, is the possibilities that are held with active items. Yes, this might be a midge similar to deadlock, but who cares anyways. They can very well implement items that don't have very competitive statlines, but have essentially "relic-like" effects. There's already one that acts like frenzy anyways, why not add some stat-sticks that give you a shorter duration beads, and one that gives you a very small aegis window. The trade off is that the items have shit stats, and fairly long cooldowns. Since the windows are also shorter, they require more precision with timing when to use them. But, it essentially adds back the option of having beads aegis, or beads blink into the game without reworking the fundamentals of smite 2. Or idk maybe I'm just talking out my ass, I haven't played smite 2 enough because it runs like shit on my steam deck.
I do think that after however many months with just one relic, players wouldn't necessarily feel quite as limited to just beads + aegis on backliners should we go back. I mean we have COMBAT BLINK which is often more versatile (and generally more fun). I am fully on the revert to 2 relics train. Hell, I'd give up and active slot for it, though they had like 3 more keybinds during the first two alpha weekends than we have currently so they could totally just add that button back in.
I would be fine with 2 relics if combat blink went away. Combat blinks main counter is itself unless your chasing a god with no movement ability and you are playing a god with one. In my opinion allowing combat blink with beads or aegis would be to much.
Make Aegis where it completely nullifies a large attack but then instantly goes away whereas you make shell where it has the ability to take reduce the damage of several attacks this is how you would differentiate between the two and why you would want to build them
His solution of becoming cc immune is dumb as dirt like if your chaining cc properly and most cc is around one second if not longer you would still be getting chained. Also having a go button is so much fun for both tanks and squishies I like the idea of maybe having that increased int active as a relic with the shield or just int and strength buff for hybrids pridwen should be a relic obvi buffed or switch around what it scales off of like make it level not prots
Definitely need more videos like this, calling out the dumbassary that is the ideas of delusional smite players that want to influence the game with said ideas to tailor the game to their benefit. And then accuse content creators/SPL players of doing what they're trying to do. Probably for clout, delusion, or straight narcissism😂 Love the video! Thank you for this one Mast! Got a real good laugh out of it!!!!!
The only thing I’ll give this Redditor is that there is a limited number of key binds you could give people on console, especially depending on your controller layout. The new interact button is cool and well placed but if that was a relic slot id be fat fingering it all day. I personally like 2 active items (mostly because the third active item key bind is awkward imo) Anyway, thanks for the 45min podcast to help me get through this boring ass shift
my issues in smite 2 is it doesn’t really feel like smite at all (granted I haven’t played since ranked was added) I expected an upscaled version of smite with gods getting either entirely new kits that fit them better and made them more interesting or added benefits to already existing abilities but they have changed so many things and not necessarily for the better. I think the game feels like a poor mix of league and smite, I’m also not a fan of having so many hot keys now, I need a hot key for item abilities which isn’t that bad to be honest but a hot key to open doors and hot key to pick up buffs feels bad for console players and less try hard pc players doesn’t feel very “smite” to me. I also don’t like that they limited the access to multiple relics.
I really do wish we'd get relics like a personal shell or a personal sprint back again. I also miss the branching relic choices but that's not my point. Like I'd probably go personal shell over an aegis any day of the week so I'm kinda not just sitting there even if its for like a second or two. It'd feel more fun for sure.
I don't agree that more relics = more skill expression (depending on the relics) but there is some issue that needs to be addressed. A lot of characters are balanced from smite 1's 2 relic system. If they're staying with 1 relic that's fine, but gods need to be changed in contrast
I feel like a lot of the whining I see about the game state of Smite 2 boils down to blame x for issue. I think a LOT of people forget that Hi-Rez NEEDS Smite 2 to work. Which means they are actively listening to genuine feedback about the game. Sometimes it will be feedback from spl/content creators and sometimes it will be feedback from everyone else that enjoys Smite. Unfortunately everyone wants to blame someone instead of just accepting that some things will be bad when implemented and some things need to be heavily tweaked at no fault to anyone in particular. If I remember correctly, the idea was to remove a relic to allow active item slots for console players. It does seem like a bit of a cop out, considering you can play MMO-esque games on console and just have a different button layout depending on what bumper/etc. you press first. I think that could be a genuine addition into Smite 2 to help console players not feel bogged down with actives and still allow the 2 relic system. It doesn't make much sense to me to only have one relic, considering that Smite 1 has... ya know... 2 relics. But a lot of this comes down to a trial and error/balancing issue.
I don’t have to play any devils advocate, but the reason content creators PROBABLY are getting the blame is because it’s known there is a discord channel where they can speak “directly” (idk how it works I’m not in it) communicate and influence the game. As someone who has played hundreds of hours of Smite since the early betas on xbox years ago, and then moved to playstation for the majority of my time, I simply think the existence of Smite 2 is doing more harm than good. The idea on paper is sound, and genuinely interesting, but Smite 1 has accomplished so much even being a much more niche moba when compared to something like League of Dota. So many crossover that I never thought would happen, the competitive scene seemed to be fairly healthy (I could be wrong I never really followed it), and the general disposition of the game felt like a more balanced and sometimes more fun version of league (as a decade plus league player), Smite 2 at least in its current state begs the question of why? It doesn't feel like the game needs this right now, and is only going to separate and damage the player base to a point that might be irreversible. I could be talking out of my ass a little bit here, but I do genuinely love Smite 1; such an awesome game and from what I've seen from you Mast and other videos about the sequel, it just feels half baked and unnecessary. I want it to succeed, but I also wish High-Rez were putting this effort into the first game.
I don't understand this comment and this sentiment in general. The game is literally NOT DONE lol. It's so far away from being done that you have to pay to even have access to it. Why are people judging this and comparing it to Smite 1 already as if it's a complete, finished product out on the market. It's months old lol.
@@InterstellarBountyHunter521 Have you ever seen an unfinished product, but had a bad feeling in your gut about it even before it's finished? @ wouldn’t surprise me if working on unreal engine 5 is easier and faster. I’d imagine then tools and tech they had at their disposal is really cool. A concern with UE5 is performance. A few high profiles games using UE5 that released this year were (and still are) plagued with performance issues. But because smite 2 is a smaller game in terms of scope and size, perhaps they won’t run into those problems. But it already sounds like the game had stuttering issues. Could be servers and not the game or client, but again we won’t know for sure until release. I want to be wrong and smite 2 fixes a lot of old issues and brings a whole new host of players to it. But on the current trajectory for the game, I don’t see it sadly. But again, I want to be wrong.
I agree, I think the big thing is how much easier it is for them to create kits/mechanics without breaking the game. So in hindsight they probably should've built up the basics behind the scenes for at least one more year and then worked towards a full release around season 13. I think over time they'll continue to make the game more interesting though and continue to implement more changes that make it stand out compared to smite 1.
I'm now just pissed that you made a video about this instead of a real video. LOL this video really wasn't worth your time although I did find it comedic

Unrelated to the video but mast you got me to reinstall smite. Good job :)
People who live on Reddit have zero logic….
Liked the video 5 seconds in based on one sentence lol
I'm now just pissed that you made a video about this instead of a real video. LOL this video really wasn't worth your time although I did find it comedic
only just started watching but weak3n was/is a plague tbh and imo part of the reason smite streaming never took off
I've not watched him enough. The little I've seen of him I didn't mind him? Mind explaining as simply as you like why you think he is a plague?
the weak3n hate is so forced. Hes not everyones cup of tea but claiming that hes the reason smite streaming never took off is crazy. One guy is not the reason why smite never got as big as other games on twitch. You incon/zapman fanboys just constantly spew garbage and make baseless claims. I am not a weak3n fan I dont even watch anything he makes but i cant help but laugh at people like you who are so consumed by a single smite players life.
@@zdmpllawson602no way you call it forced and then just assume who I follow on smite lmfaooo look in the mirror buddy you are the problem. I watched mostly small streamers outside of mast and fineo 😂. I haven’t thought of the man in years until reading the comment. Please spend some time outside of the smite bubble you need it.
@@LimpurtFan6969 how am I the problem you made an outlandish claim backed it up with 0 evidence
@@Zathrentoo much “I’m that guy” attitude. He was my introduction to smite content, and how I learned jungle timings. How I learned to play Thor. But after a while, the vod reviews and videos just didn’t have the same vibe. It was more apparent that it was to maintain/supplement his lifestyle. This was years ago and could be different now or in recent years. But he was probably the largest creator at the time
i was having a fantastic time until u flashbanged me with reddit
