I think he wasn't playable in remake because it would have taken a large development effort to get him good to go for like 10% of the game and I think they also wanted the first 4 to have player feedback to figure out the direction they wanted to go with red. For those reasons I don't mind that we didn't get Cid or Vincent and we wait for part 3.
Good question! On the original FF7? Neither have because that hasn't changed since 1997 and will not change. On part 3? Its hard to say really, I think we all might be overanalyzing the multiverse implications. I think remake's key message was "now it's possible for new events to happen" and rebirths message was something like "now that new events are possible, they can also create an alternate universe" and it's really up to part 3 to decide how to act on that. Personally I think there's a decent shot Aerith ends up back in the party but for game balance reasons, not necessarily story driven lol. I'll probably end up making at least one video on my thoughts down the road
So glad red is a playable character this game it clears up everything from ff7 remake as to why you couldn’t play him in that game

Wow. That never crossed my mind it does make sense though. Do you think rebirth has an impact on the story as much as remake had?
Good question!
