Let us know in the comments what you hate about other RVers! Be sure to keep it civil though 😄 Also, if you want to snag Jason's shirt, get it in our store: store.getawaycouple.com/
Smokers: Gotta be sensitive to EVERYONE else. Smoke away from other campsites/RV's & have a sealed butt bucket. I smoke and I use a coffee can which is SEALED when not being used. There is no excuse for leaving cigarette butts anywhere: street, parking lot, store front, campsite, nature. I get it and I pick up both trash & ciggybutts when I camp. Actually, OCD- everywhere I go!
As a smoker myself that loves to camp, I have always used common courtesy and and stay away from other campers and always have a closed but can with me. And as an owner of two dogs I would never think it is ok ti not pick up after either one of them. One of my dogs actually can't go outside to potty because of severe allergies to grass so he uses potty pads and I will usually have a large dog play pen with a thick tarp under it so that he gets outside when we are outside. The other dog is a service dog and she stays next to me at all times. a leash or line interferes with her tasking.
When I traded my 5th wheel in for a class c, as I left the dealership I turned the radio on. Kept having to turn it up to hear as I increased speed. Little did I know that it was set to outside speakers and that was what I was weakly hearing. Of course everyone along the way could hear it nicely as I passed by.
That is a friggin' riot!!! Thank you so much for sharing that story, I appreciate it! THAT's a video that should happen - Ooops that happened. Loved it- thanx again!!!
Great video, our worst experience was when the campers next to us came in late, loud and drunk from town (about 1am). They spent the next 45 mins talking loudly, slamming doors, arguing etc. It was VERY irritating! We asked the RV park owners to let us move. We were the second ones to complain about them. They got asked to leave...
You were lucky, we had a camper next to us at a campground, who left in the afternoon in his Rv to go to a concert and came back at midnight, he parked his class A and got out slamming his bay doors and in and out of his Rv for 1/2 an hour, then he proceeded to get his charcoal grill out right beside our bed room window and light it. It just smoked no fire, he was still banging and slamming doors and we had enough so we opened the window behind our bed and said politely it’s 1:00 am and quiet time is 10 so could you please keep it down we are trying to sleep, he got mad cursed at us and then he puts up two fans pointed directly at our Rv blowing the smoke from his grill directly into our Rv. Our bedroom filled with smoke even though the window was closed. We had enough and called after hours number and complained. The office did nothing, we didn’t get any sleep all night, and the next day instead of making him leave they wanted us to move two campsites down. He came out and said to my husband this is camping get used to it. This is what camping is all about. When the campground did nothing we left two days earlier then planned and they never apologized or gave us any money back, they never cared. Rude campers like this can ruin a good camping experience.
@@rvhome5599 Wow! That is bad. There’s much more to that whole story but I didn’t want to get too detailed. However the RV Park owners were very apologetic, and gave us 3 additional nights stay for free. So they really did try to make things right. The folks that had been camped next to them before us left 2 days early...
We were primitive camping once, sites well separated by a small patch of woods. The neighbors were drunk and got into an argument. Lots of cussing and threats. Finally I hollered through the woods ' please don't give her no more wine, it worked, they settled down.....
Totally agree!! We actually live in a RV park full time because my husband works at the park and some RV'ers can be total nobs and very rude about others "space". We have a child but teach him rules and boundaries of others. Some parents let the kids run around others sites ( and right by their trailers) screaming and playing. Some guys come in from working all day and don't want to hear all that. One of my pet peeves.
So true! I've seen several videos about this topic, and it's often dismissed as people not understanding "camping etiquette". I think that's a bit of a cop out though. You don't have to be a camping veteran to understand that we all have our own space, and to both expect and give respect to that space. I think it's more about common sense and respecting others than about not understanding etiquette.
I agree and disagree. It depends on what you consider walking through. I'm guilty of doing it as a kid, and as an adult now I could not care less when kids come through. Most adults I see that pass through stick to the camp site boarders, which is fine to me. After all, you are camping. Its not property, but more about respecting "living spaces" or "bubble".
I had an instance where we were docked at a spot for several weeks. The camp next to us recently had children which was fine. The incoming RV'ers assumed the bicycle helmet and other toys left behind belonged to us so when they set up camp they put all the stuff on our own picnic table right in front of our door without asking or saying a word, They basically threw all the stuff on our side of the camp. We have no kids and when this happened we were inside our RV watching TV. I came out about 1/2 hour later and asked them who put this in our camp and they assumed it belonged to our non-existent children. This may seem more like bickering than anything, but please reach out to your neighbor before throwing stuff on their side that you assume belongs to them. Courtesy by far is probably the best attribute when camping next to others.
I hate people walking through my site too! I had someone walk between my trailer and pickup and it drove me crazy! Feels like they were walking through my house!
We had a young teenager ask us if she could cut through our site after her younger sibling hurt herself pretty bad. What a polite young lady she was taught right.
I think that would be an excellent idea. A posted set of rules and a list of rules with details of Campground Amenities which must be signed, with Carbon copy for; and “damage deposit” charged to: the would-be Camper, prior to paying for and being appointed, a site. The signed ‘rules’ shall be an agreement to adherence of said rules, legally binding, giving campground staff/owners cause to evict after one warning. One warning only for each rule broken. Everyone deserves a warning. No other campers deserve to be treated like doormats. Since a signature is legally binding, campers are thus warned that they forfeit their fees when evicted. Wanna make a mess? Fee and ‘damage deposit’ may be used to make repairs and clean-up the site.
We've done the 'outside speaker' thing as well. So embarrassed the next day when we realized it. Luckily our neighbor said they never heard it. #1 issue impacting me is barking dogs. I work from the camper quite often. Have issues with dogs barking while people are gone. Esp. annoying when the owner is right there with them and does not teach/stop them. Best part is getting to know new people and seeing new sights.
I'm 70 years old. I am 5'4" tall. I drive/live in a 10' tall, 20' long one-ton van. I recently had to leave a very crowded small parking lot. It took about 6 points to get turned around. I had an audience when I got pointed in the right direction. I leaned out my window and said, "How ya like me NOW?"
Neighbors making late night phone calls outside their rig, because they don’t want to disturb their children and have their conversation by your bedroom!
One you can add is leaving their campsite and not putting out their fire. We have seen lots of people pull out while their fire is still smoking. With all the wild fires we have had it makes no sense to not take two minute to properly extinguish their fire.
We went to a new park. It was so beautiful but.... Tent campers next to us set up hammocks on our side of the site which was like 5 feet from out picnic table and fire pit. Their kids were jumping all over our picnic table 😠 tent campers behind is (these were rv sites) set their tent up not to the right of their site but between our site and theirs . and letting their dog poop without picking it up. We got the hose and made it muddy so they wouldn't walk back their. I should have said something but I did shine my flash light to let them know I saw. Ugh I dont need that stress. People walking through our site all weekend bcuz there was multiple families camping and visiting each other. This was my first stressful trip. 😥
Jesus, so now no kids, they hurt my feelings!! Mother people, this park is only for my sensitivities? No pets unless they are mine? It is a public park right? Where does the tackfulness stop and nastiness start? OMG
Took our youth club for the annual camporee. Parents and family are invited to these but they don't seem to mind walking through someone's camp space. Some even stopped and were peering into our girls tent. Our leader went ballistic. We notified our main leaders and campers were informed on being respectful to fellow campers. We resolved it by buying orange temp fencing that are used at construction sites to go around our camp space. The following years we noticed other youth clubs did the same.
Heres One, Just bought a black water Tank hauler tote. Went over to the dump station across the park, and about 20ft. away there was three people sitting on a picnic bench just watching the entire dumping process. This was the first time i used the tote, and wasnt real familiar with its use. I go out to camp to get away from people and unwind, its turning out to be weird to say the least.
Thank you for the real answer on lights, get the blackouts. I am in a tiny rig, but I made the stealth window covers. I have had people tent camping right next, like 1 foot, to the rig. I am glad I had the covers or they would have been more glad since I have to change right there. 65 isn't pretty. Get the window covers and love everyone.
I'm retired and camp a lot in SoCal. Excessive noise in the State Park Campground is against the rules. The first thing I do when I arrive is talk to the Camp Host and get their opinions. Then call on them to enforce the rules. 2 things that should be banned are 'open-sided' generators and using outside TV and speakers in a State Park.
Here is a funny story. Our first trip with our RV we had our chocolate lab, Kali with us. I back our Class C in and my hubby gets out with to help hook ups. We leave Kali in the rig. Well, I’m the driver. I’m 4’11” so basically I sit on the hood. Lol. Kali jumps in the drivers seat and gets stuck and is beeping the horn with her butt 😂. Everyone now knows we are there.
That is why I boondock - my dogs can run free, I can blast my music or enjoy peace and quiet, light up the night if I feel like it or sit and watch the stars and no neighbours to complain.
I agree. The pansies who complain about every frigging thing gag me. Get some ear plugs for noise, put covers on your windows for light and get out of the rv and have fun instead of hiding inside looking for something to complain about. My pet peeve is everyone who has a multitude of pet peeves. Whawhawha.
blasting music when others are around is rude as hell and if you do it near someone with that hearing disease they might shoot you. i live in a mobile home park and i cannot stand these idiots who are NOT COOL ANYMORE BLASTING THEIR RADIOS AT CONCERT DECIBEL. WHEN YOU NEIGHBOR IS 5 FT OR LESS AWAY IS ignorant and trashy.
Great information. A lot of people just don't realize the effect their actions may have on others. We agree with 99.99 % of everything you said. Here are just a couple of things to help people understand why some of the things you mentioned happen. Simple one first. A lot of people leave lights on for security reasons at night. If a little old lady is stealing things during the day imagine what could be stolen at night in the dark. Just be courtious enough to have them point to the ground. The next one is a safety tip. First of all don't throw anything in a campfire that doesn't burn. Even wood has small explosions if it's not totally dry. If there is broken glass or something like that the wood explosion could shoot it out. No it's not far fetched, I've seen it happen. Once with a piece of glass from a broken beer bottle, and once with a small staple size pieces of wire. People were injured each time. Now for a VERY important one. NEVER EVER throw any kind of container that has had some type of flamable fuel in it into a fire. Including aerosol cans. The small green propane cans my feel like they are empty, or stop working and you think they are empty. THEY ARE NOT! They still contain gas fumes, they just aren't preassurized. Until they are heated and have no release, then they explode. An empty gas can with the lid off can cause an explosion from the fumes. I want to believe that the person who threw the green can in the fire pit didn't do it with intentions of hurting anyone, just didn't know what could happen. You said it was under the ashes. It could have been thrown in as trash the next morning and wasn't seen. A lot of people don't check fire pits they just throw more wood in and light it up. This isn't just some kind of rant this is knowledge obtained from training with a forest fire fighting team. People be considerate and be safe. If you pack it in PACK IT OUT. Remember what goes around comes around. You could be a victim of you own carelessness. Chief
One more equally helpful hint for STRAIGHT LINE backing... First and foremost... Get out and check behind you for any objects that can damage your tires. Place your hands at the BOTTOM of the steering wheel, instead of the top where you have to momentarily reverse everything and temporarily reprogram your brain (you're already under stress anyway, right?), and WATCH 😳 YOUR MIRRORS to ensure you're straight. Now, SLOWLY and gently IDLE BACKWARD, while watching your mirrors. (You got this! 👍) When the trailer begins to go to the left, and it will, be prepared to FOCUS ON WHAT YOU'RE DOING. (Your front trailer axle is ALWAYS the pivot point in backing) simply EASE your steering wheel to the left... (The SHORTER your trailer, the FASTER it will react) Woooop! Easy now, don't over correct! Pull forward and straighten back up and try again. That's it! 👍 Do the same thing when the trailer goes to the right. Looks like you've got it! You are soooooh awesome! Whomever came-up with the idea 💡 to place hands at the top of the steering wheel simply didn't think outside the box! Lastly, your getting close to the campground now... find a vacant area of a parking lot and practice this BEFORE arriving at the campground. Practice for 5 or 10 minutes. Now! It's fresh in your mind, your confidence 🤔 is high. Head for the campsite right away and back it in. Those folks standing around watching you will think 🤔 you're a 😱god!! (I told you that you could do it. You didn't believe me, did you?) Drive safely and please be kind to others. Happy trails. 🤠
We had a sound reactive dog that barked alot.. she also hated her crate but had to crate her so she wouldn't destroy the camper. To combat the sound reactions, we turn our radio on at a decent level but not loud enough to hear outside. And ALSO turn on the rigs fan(usually its on auto to cycle on w the ac) but turn it on manually to continuously run. It's good white noise for your pups I also would check w our neighbors to see if it worked initially.. and it did so try fan and radio. And sometimes I'd run our tower fan too for more hum
Great video, guys! It was sort of covered in "noise" but we're not fans of people running their commercial generators all day long. Especially out boondocking and they've come and parked right next to us. And pointed their exhaust right at us. 🙉 If you know you have a noisy generator, please be respectful of where you park and how long you run it for, thanks!
So what's wrong with leaving the outside light on. Yes use your blackout curtains. Im leaving my outside light by door on so I can see if someone is outside my camper..
Love your videos! Stuck in what they call an RV park near Dallas, TX as we're here for eye surgery corrections. It's really just a trailer park. Barking dogs all night & day, dog poop everywhere, neighbors parking huge trucks on our site & threatening me when I ask them to move but they do move when my 6'4" 280lbs tells them to move it...lol..., kids screaming constantly, people revving up motorcycles for hours & not going anywhere, sirens & traffic noise, fights..you name it & all the other RV parks in area are booked! We Used to live in the DFW area & now we remember why we left...lol We get a hotel room 2-3 nights a week just to get sleep! UGH!!! This is why we try to stay at 55+ RV parks & can't wait to get back to AZ!...And we have LED lights on under motor home to keep critters out. It works! Get some cheap light blocking curtains on Amazon & you won't have that night light problem. It works!
I agree with you guys on so many of these things. Cigarette smoke/butts; lights, pets/pet mess pick-up, loud obnoxious neighbors, etc. With technology as it is and the great sound quality of portable blue tooth speakers, I don't know why RV manufacturers continue to install external speakers in RV's. I have actually removed our stereo from our RV and we stream music from our phones. If we want to watch a DVD/Blue Ray disc, we have a separate player connected to the TV for that.
We have a Class A and I mounted my surge protector inside my bay by cutting the wire and putting male and female plugs on each end , this way I can plug and play and easy to replace a defective surge and best, it’s in a locked cubby
My wife and I have often commented about our rv experience being far less of a wilderness experience than when we are at home watching deer, turkeys, quail, etc from our living room or deck. Rv’ing has become more of a mobile suburbia with very crowded conditions.
I am a retired (after 43 years) over-the-road trucker. Please let me offer this suggestion... Backing up? Get out and look! Who cares if you have to do it five or even ten times. As to those folks standing around watching you... believe me, the vast majority are NOT any better at it than you! Why do you think campgrounds advertise "pull thru" spots? Remember the acronym, 'GOAL': G-et O-ut A-nd L-ook!
I'm not an RVer - yet, so my comment about people insisting on helping you reverse in goes back to my truck driving days. I was constantly left shaking my head at people who would volunteer themselves to help me back a truck and semi-trailer in or out of a tight spot and then promptly go and stand behind my trailer where I couldn't see them in my mirrors!
You should put together a campground etiquette checklist and then try to contact RV rental companies and work on getting them to include it in their rental paperwork package.
Eeewww thanks for the idea, I am getting some Lysol spray and spraying the spigot AND the table. I have seen them put the slinky away on the picnic table.
In MN most houses don’t have fences. We back up to woods so we don’t get a lot of people through our yard, but we have a trampoline that is open for other kids in the neighborhood to use and we love it - other families share their playgrounds in their yards - very communal neighborhood where we all share our backyard toys for the kids. As for dogs - we don’t have pets but people get invisible fences or they pay to have a fence put in.
We are new full-timers in a twin rig! (2018 GD Solitude) We realized the other day that Zone C was outside of our rig. We really hope the people around us liked listening to true crime documentaries the night before we realized! OOPS! We also have a neighbor family who are pretty awesome - they have 4 kids and 2 dogs. The kids let the dogs out ALL THE TIME. We definitely wouldn't care so much - except we have a dog who isn't great with other dogs. The RV park we are in made everyone take their dog fences down a couple days ago - because it's "against the rules" - so our dog is with us on a lead when the loose dog comes running at her. Not enjoyable. Yesterday I was walking my two dogs - and their loose dog came charging us. It went well - but my heart was thumping out of my chest for a couple hours.
Too funny on the speakers! Dogs are always a tough one! So many CG do not enforce their own rules when it comes to dogs. And...dog owners are not always responsible dog owners. There are rules for a reason!
@@GetawayCouple it's true. So we currently have a new situation - with neighbors who have kids outside screaming and dogs outside barking at 6:30 am. Their dogs bark - then our dogs bark back and it's so early. Really sweet family - and we like them a lot - but it's super early to have all of that noise going on in the morning - as it would be if we were keeping their littles up at night. :)
I live in D/FW Texas. We fence our back yards but normally not the front yard. No one walks through our front yard but kids nearby playing ball get in and out and that's OK just no one should do it after dark ... because... Texas :)
Growing up in Ohio and living in MI and PA, we never had a fence. Occasionally people cut through but really is not an issue. As far as the dog goes, we always had a radio fence.
I've followed all the popular RVers for years. And you guys remain among the most pleasurable to watch. Your subjects are always on point, the content is enjoyable and you can tell both of you are just kind people.
We love to watch people backing in. And I had one incident in Colorado where a whole group of other Texans were cheering & clapping when I did an amazing (and pretty lucking) one shot perfect backing job. So yes it can be humbling or a ego boost.
My number 1 is generators. We have camped at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for NASCAR weekends for 12 years. The campground has a rule of no generators from 10pm to 7am and every year there are people that I think have their generators on timers. Because it never fails that right at 7am their generator turns on and they never turn off until right at 10pm that night. I mean who needs them running all day long?
Lugging their honey bucket through your campsite, flooding your campsite and extending their slide out into your campsite this and having to pick up their trash in your campsite were all done by one couple over a weekend!
Been rv-ing in the Kansas, Ok, Mizzou area for 5 years now and the biggest issues I notice are loud music into the night and walking thru our site. No matter how close I park the truck to the 5th wheel, they still walk between the 2. Why!!?? Also, my father-n-law is one of those campground "helpers." Mortifies the family. Lol.
Lol, i agree campsite spaces should be respected. Not just crossing through, but respecting the space. We just had the man at the site next door come over into our site early while my teen son was starting a morning fire and started loudly visiting at 7:00a.m. it woke everyone up! I could hear my son was politely direct to end the conversation but the fella didn't take the hint. My son ended up coming inside. That evening during dinner we found they'd moved their camp chairs to the edge of their camp, facing ours, and occasionally jumped into our conversation while we ate dinner on our picnic bench. They might have been lonely, but it wasn't the time. Awkward.
Definitely awkward 🤣 Good for your son for trying to do the right thing! It's so hard because some people just want to be friendly, but then there are those who go too far. Thanks for your comments and input and thanks for watching!
My mom had a little land/wooden deck that was about 8x8 and one day it disappeared.. That's a big thing to make off with. The strangest thing is it showed back up 2 weeks later.
old house as a kid. the yard had a fence so no one passed through. neighbors behind us however did not have a fence. trespassed through their yard constantly to get to the other side of the neighborhood. they either did not no, or did not care as nothing was ever said.
Oh definitely. We live in a trailer park out in the country and racoons are EVERYWHERE. Irritates me to no end that some can't comprehend that. Don't leave crap out over night. Especially trash!
I only offer to back a rig in when I see them really struggling!! I will help someone back in just because I don’t want to see anyone damage their rig!! If they look like they are going to get it I won’t butt in!!! The thing I hate the most is people burning plastic in their campfire!!!
@@elizabethansel6519 If anyone ask...I'll do it!! Have done it several times for folks. Some people get really angry if I ask them....so I let them ask me first.
On the fence issue, we're from California so I get your perspective. But in the neighborhood where we live now in Colorado, we back to open space and very few people who abut the various open spaces have fenced yards. Nobody has ever walked through our yard; there are designated access trails into and through the open space that people stick to. And its cool for the kids to be able to roam back and forth as desired. We thought we'd build a fence upon moving in, for our dogs, but now we just take them out supervised if not on a walk. Never thought I'd say this but I'm so happy to not have a fence.
Would it be “ok” to get sone sort of accordion folding fence like structure to put in places around the campsite (NOT fencing in the site) to prevent others from encroaching on your site? Or something to indicate that “this is my site”
We aren't allowed to put in fences. The people that have been here for many years were grandfathered in. But, it's super annoying because YES we have people walk through our lot all the time. And, it drives me crazy!
Thank you very much for taking the time to post. If people would post the bad or good experiences they've experienced at RV/camping places then others would know if they wanted to stay there. $$$ talks, if people stop going to the bad ones maybe places would be forced to require people behave or leave.
We had a Workamper walking her dog on a retractable leash. Someone let 3 dogs unleashed. They rushed at her dog, he got scared, he wrapped his leash around her legs and she fell backwards and left in an ambulance. I hate off leash, and retractable leashes are just as bad!
Trespassing is an issue everywhere. I lived on the water once and had a dock out back. Neighbors on each side, but no fences. You had to walk through someone's yard to get to my dock and I would look out back and there would be people just fishing from the small dock in my back yard. They also seemed incredulous when I asked them to leave.
We used to stay at an RV park on our one travel nurse assignment where the people would just drive their golf cart through our site multiple times! Goodness I feel bad walking the trash out and feel like I make an effort to walk all the way around, let alone drive a vehicle through a site 😄oh my, so many interesting stories out there. Thanks for sharing guys - Kyle and Renee
Was shocked to read about people using the water hook up meant for the RV potable water supply by sticking the sewer hose up on and around it to clean the sewer hose! Horrifying! We are newbies to RVing and would have not have known about this had I not watched your video! We will be sanitizing all those water supply connections!! Just bought our first Camper and looking forward to getting started on our RV journeys!
So our house does not have a fence around yard. The surrounding neighbors are never just walking through the yard or any random people. One of our neighbors dog has the invisible fence to keep them in there yard but out dog just knows where our yard ends and stays out of everyone else's yard.
Vaping is a good option for people that are not truly addicted to smoking I’ve tried but not a option I do however take my bits with me or burn them in a fire
As a smoker I will smoke outside in my campsite or on open public areas like roads, but not while in someone else's site. Unless they smoke too. I never leave my butts on the ground. It's littering.
When my hubby and I were driving as a professional trucking team the folks who would insist on going behind the truck and start waving their arms around were sooooo annoying. (My husband can back expertly and I knew what needed to be communicated, help from others was not needed) Imagine backing your RV is the same story
As a smoker, trying to quit once again, just politely say my cigarette is bothering you. I'll stop. I respect my neighbors. I try not to smoke around non smokers and never around children.
We thought about that, we are just non-confrontational and introverts (like a lot of RVers). It was just difficult because we have allergies and an older cat who also has allergies. It seemed the easiest thing to do, to just request a change of sites. That way, we didn’t offend anyone and all turned out for the best.
We haven’t started rving yet, so watching these types of videos is helping us know how to be polite park neighbors. I would think leaving a light on would help deter theft. We leave our porch and outside front lights on each night at home for that reason, but I can also see how it could bother someone parked close by.
As far as the light comments,we leave our lights on at night on a low setting as well as the under carriage lighting changing colors slowly which helps keep the pack rats from exploring our brake lines and other things under our 5er.
Some dogs bark just due to the fact that they hear different people that they don't know near what they know as home. So they think they are doing their job my keeping strangers out
That dog needs to be socialized and trained. Otherwise left at home. We were at KOA Pigeon forge last weekend and a Beagle was barking all weekend long. Multiple groups complained but the KOA didnt care. My poor wife developed a migraine from it.
@@harmonioustravelerswebeemo4110 yup. Its all about being courteous to others. Kids, dogs, music ECT. There is some level of comprimise as well. We can't expect a perfectly quiet/peaceful campground everywhere.
@@dkharris111 but let's not forget. Some people go camping in groups, with family for the entire reason of spending time with one another. My turn now, I don't understand why overly sensitive people come to an rv park expecting everyone walk on egg shells. We are there to have a good time and party with family. If laughter after 10 or 9 pm bothers you then maybe YOU are too sensitive. Earplugs, earplugs, earplugs. Let's all be considerate of someone besides yourself.
@@Beentherebefore1 you need to read want I wrote again. You clearly misinterpreted it. No one should expect an RV park or campground to be perfectly silent. However its courtesy to your fellow campers to follow the rules the campground has put in place. If you dont like said rules find somewhere else to camp.
I think it was the litter from the butts they referred to. I hate that nasty smell as much as anyone but its your right and I have no place to tell you how to live.
The Friday night AFTERWORK ARRIVALS: THE "WHOO HOOO EVERYBODY WE'RE CAMPING!!!!!!!" CRANKED BOOMBOX; BARKING DOGS; ALL NIGHT YELLING ALCOHOL crowd...(Mostly at the country & state campgrounds)
Haha, never fails, right around 5pm at our lake area. I admit, I do watch them back in and struggle to set up. Almost as fun as watching them at the boat ramp.
Agree with you guys about all the subjects you brought up. My wife and I are always so worried about respecting our neighbors space. Luckily up to now in the over 2 years now when we have been out on trips we haven't had to deal with to many of these issues. But have talked to others about their nightmares out on the road. But being a dog lover will admit what total gets me is not picking up after your dog. Nothing worse than taking a evening walk and stepping in a pile in the dark. We love your channel keep the videos coming.
Oh thanks so much Michael! 😊 You are right, luckily most of these annoyances are not everyday occurances. We try to put a video out every Sunday, so be sure to subscribe. Thanks for watching!
Yes walking through your site. You would think it would just be common sense that you wouldn’t do that, but I guess not! One time I had a kid ride his bike right under our awning while I was sitting there! I just said you gotta be kidding me!
Most new developments will not allow fences because they are unsightly and limit socializing. In LA many yards are quite small so fencing makes more sense. I enjoy the openness of an unfenced yard. The only downside is the neighbors dog makes an occasional unwanted deposit.
lt should be a common sence thing. How close is you light from others' bedrooms? You might want to go outside and look at where your lights are shinning.
Yes you can totally use them! You just have to make sure on moving day they are secure not to rattle around during travel. RVers have different ways of doing this so it just depends on your set up. In the cabinet they are in, you don't want things stacked up on moving day that could fall over. Others have told us they have one plastic storage bin that those items go into for moving day then back in the cabinet upon arrival at the next destination. The benefit of having real dishes far outweighs the need to secure them on moving day. Good question!
I don't have a fence in my yard, plus we have a middle school in our neighborhood, kid walking home will cut through and i am fine with it. At a campsite, if someone cut through, i position outdoor furniture to make it difficult. Cigarette smoke and buts are ridiculous. I am okay with lights at nightlights, some campgrounds get very dark.
Let us know in the comments what you hate about other RVers! Be sure to keep it civil though 😄 Also, if you want to snag Jason's shirt, get it in our store: store.getawaycouple.com/
Have a solution for walking thru other site... Get cones and yellow tape in your space
Thanks for your comments and for doing your part! Safe travels!
Thank you!
🤣 Too funny!!! Gotta love those discoveries!!
That is a friggin' riot!!! Thank you so much for sharing that story, I appreciate it! THAT's a video that should happen - Ooops that happened. Loved it- thanx again!!!
Lmao!! Hope you were blasting some good tunes 😎
😅😂😂
That is hilarious!
One of my pet peeve is when a campground has rules to avoid a lot of these issues but refuses to enforce them.
Backup offers. I accept the NICE refusals. For the nasty ones I film for RUclips!
Exactly!
Great video,
our worst experience was when the campers next to us came in late, loud and drunk from town (about 1am). They spent the next 45 mins talking loudly, slamming doors, arguing etc. It was VERY irritating! We asked the RV park owners to let us move. We were the second ones to complain about them. They got asked to leave...
Wow! So glad to hear something was done to correct the issue. So many times it is not. Thanks for watching!!
You were lucky, we had a camper next to us at a campground, who left in the afternoon in his Rv to go to a concert and
came back at midnight, he parked his class A and got out slamming his bay doors and in and out of his Rv for 1/2 an hour, then he proceeded to get his charcoal grill out right beside our bed room window and light it.
When people cut through occupied sites they're disrespecting the occupants privacy.
Right!!
We’re newbies and are doing research so we don’t get into trouble! :-)
You are already ahead of the game by researching!! Enjoy the adventures!
Thank you! You sound like wonderful people.❤️ I wish everyone was like you.
It is plain Rude to walk through someone's camp and or yard!
We agree!
It’s not selfish to want the space that you have paid for to be reserved for you and your visitors. It’s one of my pet peeves.
Absolutely! It's your space for the day, night, week, whatever!
I hate people walking through my site too! I had someone walk between my trailer and pickup and it drove me crazy! Feels like they were walking through my house!
Exactly! It's your spot just like if it were your yard!
We had a young teenager ask us if she could cut through our site after her younger sibling hurt herself pretty bad. What a polite young lady she was taught right.
Offer to help the neighbor so you can make sure you get your tool back.
I always thought it would be a good idea for the camp ground or RV park pass out a card with camping Etiquette on it.
It would, but most people don't even read the campground's rules, so they probably wouldn't read those either. 😧
Manners, respect and common sense sadly some do not have these.
So very true!
Exactly!! We have had so many issues with this.
Totally agree!
You are right. Some people don't know how their dogs behave when they are away. LOL on the speakers - it happens!
People assuming because I’m a woman traveling alone that I don’t know how to back a trailer
Understand that! It's nice that people want to help. Like we said, we just try to give them "a job" so we can do our own thing 😉
Women can put most men to shame in backing a rig...that genetic old male 😡ego gets in the way. I've seen it 🤔 time after time.
Ugh! I think people tend to "forget" they are standing outside your bedroom window and you are in bed!
It drives me crazy when people make phone calls and use their speaker so we hear their business and drama. So rude
Like the old Nextel Motorola phones people would use in a restaurant! I hated them phones.
Use earplugs. Are people really that sensitive to everything little thing.
That’s when you turn your outside speakers on and put on something like opera or Carmena Burana
One you can add is leaving their campsite and not putting out their fire. We have seen lots of people pull out while their fire is still smoking. With all the wild fires we have had it makes no sense to not take two minute to properly extinguish their fire.
We so agree!
Having to go and ask for a tool back that you graciously loaned someone.
Yes - WHY should you even need to do that?? 😧
Yes! It seems they forget that they borrowed it sometimes 🤣
And if you do get it back it’s broken or bent!
Be careful helping people back . If you are directing traffic and they hit something, you could be held liable.
Great point!
We have a sign that says if you are smoking on our site we will assume you are on fire and put you out.
🤣🤣🤣
So sorry to hear about this! Good job on your tactfulness!
Jesus, so now no kids, they hurt my feelings!! Mother people, this park is only for my sensitivities? No pets unless they are mine? It is a public park right? Where does the tackfulness stop and nastiness start? OMG
I have 3 words for you.
crime scene tape!
Great idea - thanks for sharing this!
I feel like lights hanging up lights around your area often helps with people not walking through space.
Great point! Thanks for sharing!
Hmmm.....maybe it's like watching people back into campsites....waiting to see if there's something funny to see? Thanks for sharing!
@@GetawayCouple Your probably right, I used to laugh at grandkids when they squatted down in their diapers and well, you know?
Thank you for the real answer on lights, get the blackouts. I am in a tiny rig, but I made the stealth window covers. I have had people tent camping right next, like 1 foot, to the rig. I am glad I had the covers or they would have been more glad since I have to change right there. 65 isn't pretty. Get the window covers and love everyone.
😂 Love it Toni! Safe travels!
Love the bloopers lol! The whole half vantriliquist side mouth talk about the dog thing is priceless... Thanks
Great input - thanks so much!
When did camping become outside tv,s, speakers, etc. What a joke.
🤣 Funny story! Must love dogs!!
forgiveable.
Light pollution is the biggest problem when you want to see the stars.
Most definitely! We have driven away from town before to catch some amazing views!
That is why I boondock - my dogs can run free, I can blast my music or enjoy peace and quiet, light up the night if I feel like it or sit and watch the stars and no neighbours to complain.
Yes! We have enjoyed our time boondocking as well. We are so glad we finally gave it a try! Keep enjoying!
@@elizabethansel6519 therein lies your problem - you live in a mobile home park - lol
Chief
Such good points! Thanks for sharing!!
You didn't believe me, did you?)
Drive safely and please be kind to others. Happy trails. 🤠
Awesome information! Thanks so much for sharing!
It's good white noise for your pups
I also would check w our neighbors to see if it worked initially.. and it did so try fan and radio. And sometimes I'd run our tower fan too for more hum
Thanks so much for sharing this!
Thanks guys, and totally agree!
So what's wrong with leaving the outside light on. Yes use your blackout curtains. Im leaving my outside light by door on so I can see if someone is outside my camper..
The list was compiled by input from our viewers, so not saying it's us complaining about them 😊
Love your videos! It works!
Ugh...it's tought when you get "stuck" somewhere when you have no choice! Hope all goes well and it ends for you soon! Thanks for watching!
I've read that leaving lights on under your rig help keep rodents from entering. I'm not sure if it's true....
We have heard that too. Not sure if it is proven, but whatever helps!
The blue lights are supposed to keep skeeter away. Don't know if it is true.
That is awesome!
Remember the acronym, 'GOAL':
G-et
O-ut
A-nd
L-ook!
AWESOME! Thank You!
@@GetawayCouple New subscriber, love you two kids' channel. You're 'real' and folks like that! Keep up the good work!!
Oh yes - we have seen this too!
You should put together a campground etiquette checklist and then try to contact RV rental companies and work on getting them to include it in their rental paperwork package.
That's a great idea! Thanks for sharing!
They would go broke on paper and ink. It would be 50 pages front and back.
Eeewww thanks for the idea, I am getting some Lysol spray and spraying the spigot AND the table. I have seen them put the slinky away on the picnic table.
Great idea!!
I live in
D/FW Texas. We fence our back yards but normally not the front yard. No one walks through our front yard but kids nearby playing ball get in and out and that's OK just no one should do it after dark ... because... Texas :)
🤣
Great video! We pick up our 2022 Winnebago Micro Minnie 1800bh June 24! What are your water sources in nearby towns when you're boondocking?
Growing up in Ohio and living in MI and PA, we never had a fence. Occasionally people cut through but really is not an issue. As far as the dog goes, we always had a radio fence.
Good to know, thanks for the info!
I've followed all the popular RVers for years. And you guys remain among the most pleasurable to watch. Your subjects are always on point, the content is enjoyable and you can tell both of you are just kind people.
Oh thanks so much! We truly appreciate it! Thanks for watching! 😊
I love when they line up to watch me back, gives me a chance to show off my mad backing skills,
I agree with most of these. Good job RVers, we all need to stick together.
Thank you!!!
Great comment - thanks!
Lugging their honey bucket through your campsite, flooding your campsite and extending their slide out into your campsite this and having to pick up their trash in your campsite were all done by one couple over a weekend!
Ugh! There is always someone 😒
Lol.
I don't think I will ever understand it. Thanks for sharing!
Also on the stinky slinky black tank first then grey it helps rinse the tube!
old house as a kid. the yard had a fence so no one passed through. neighbors behind us however did not have a fence. trespassed through their yard constantly to get to the other side of the neighborhood. they either did not no, or did not care as nothing was ever said.
Thanks for watching and for your input!
For us the biggest thives have been raccoons and squirrels taking anything edible left out too long.
They're sneaky boogers.
Lost a bushel of sweet corn to racoons one night.
They are the peskiness of neighbors!
Trash Pandas!!
Oh definitely. We live in a trailer park out in the country and racoons are EVERYWHERE. Irritates me to no end that some can't comprehend that. Don't leave crap out over night. Especially trash!
If some people would not come into the site and take others things. Motion sensors lighting in.Use black out shades really helps.
Great tips! Thank you for sharing!
I do not want someone with zero vested interest in my rig helping me back into my site. We have a system and do not want to be thrown off our game.
We understand that completely! Sometimes the campground hosts are required to watch, but we just try to "give them a job" while we do our own thing!
I only offer to back a rig in when I see them really struggling!! I will help someone back in just because I don’t want to see anyone damage their rig!! If they look like they are going to get it I won’t butt in!!! The thing I hate the most is people burning plastic in their campfire!!!
Great input! Thank you!
being new and unable to back in i would surely allow you to back it in for me
@@elizabethansel6519 If anyone ask...I'll do it!!
Thanks for the input and thanks for watching!
Would it be “ok” to get sone sort of accordion folding fence like structure to put in places around the campsite (NOT fencing in the site) to prevent others from encroaching on your site? Or something to indicate that “this is my site”
That would vary from campground to campground. Some don't allow fencing of any kind, not even dog yard type fences.
@@GetawayCouple thank you, I didn’t realize that.
We aren't allowed to put in fences. The people that have been here for many years were grandfathered in. But, it's super annoying because YES we have people walk through our lot all the time. And, it drives me crazy!
Thank you for taking the time to put your videos together. I can only imagine how long and challenging it can be.
Glad you like them! We actually enjoy doing them!
Outdoor Adventures in Michigan has a great deal of theft issues. Their Lakeshore resort in Davison is terrible for theft.
That's so sad to hear! We all have to do what we can these days to secure what we can. 😔
Oh man! Sorry to hear that! Hope she is ok. People don't realize that no one really knows how either dog will react in any given situation.
🙄 Oh the trespassers. Even in campgrounds!
There are so many and thanks for sharing yours! Happy travels!
This was awesome!! Thank you for sharing. PS where did you get your mugs? They are adorable!!
We pretty much avoid people . 27 plus years of boondocking has taught us a lot about keep away from lots of people and things. Great video!
Thanks for sharing!
Question if there is a sidewalk or designated walking path in the park that snakes through & between sites, it's not a problem to walk on those is it?
I would think if it is a designated sidewalk or path, then it should not be an issue.
Retired, bought a “vintage’ motor home. Seeing if we like the rv life.
Fun! Congrats and enjoy!
Thanks for cleaning them up! If everyone only would!
We live in the Midwest and on water. No fences and the waters edge is a highway for kids in the summer
Very nice! It's definitely different everywhere 😊
As a smoker I will smoke outside in my campsite or on open public areas like roads, but not while in someone else's site. Unless they smoke too. I never leave my butts on the ground. It's littering.
Thank you for being considerate!
When my hubby and I were driving as a professional trucking team the folks who would insist on going behind the truck and start waving their arms around were sooooo annoying. (My husband can back expertly and I knew what needed to be communicated, help from others was not needed) Imagine backing your RV is the same story
Thanks for sharing!! You are so right!
As a smoker, trying to quit once again, just politely say my cigarette is bothering you. I'll stop. I respect my neighbors. I try not to smoke around non smokers and never around children.
Quitting smoking is one of the easiest things you can do. My dad quit at least a 1000 times.
We thought about that, we are just non-confrontational and introverts (like a lot of RVers). It was just difficult because we have allergies and an older cat who also has allergies. It seemed the easiest thing to do, to just request a change of sites. That way, we didn’t offend anyone and all turned out for the best.
It's so nice to have people who are aware of being respectful! Kudos to you all!
@@Herk988 My wife past last December. It was either the whiskey bottle or cigarettes. My doctor said enjoy the cigs but dont go crazy.
@@conniesfinalquest9071 We are so sorry to hear of your loss. It’s never easy to lose someone you love.
I learned at our last park that a lot of people leave their outside lights on for security purposes and also for mice/rat deterrent.
Yep. It's the bigger spotlight type lights that usually cause issues.
Good fences make good neighbors. 😀
You got that right!
If your dog is a barker, leave the radio on relatively loud so they don't hear every sound outside.
We have heard that! Thanks for sharing!
Your ass would be in trouble for radio noise from these whiners.
Ummm ..... not every wants to listen to others music
We haven’t started rving yet, so watching these types of videos is helping us know how to be polite park neighbors. I would think leaving a light on would help deter theft. We leave our porch and outside front lights on each night at home for that reason, but I can also see how it could bother someone parked close by.
Best of luck on your adventure when you start! Good for you for doing research ahead of time!
@@GetawayCouple thank you! 😊 Hopefully, we will see you on the road real soon. Safe travels!
As far as the light comments,we leave our lights on at night on a low setting as well as the under carriage lighting changing colors slowly which helps keep the pack rats from exploring our brake lines and other things under our 5er.
We have heard this works. Thanks for sharing!
Some dogs bark just due to the fact that they hear different people that they don't know near what they know as home. So they think they are doing their job my keeping strangers out
Very true!
I cant do the vapor or e-cigs due to the fact I'm allergic to the oils in them and I smoke.
Everyone has to find what works for them. Thanks for watching!
😂 The campgrouds are fun
I don't think I will every understand why people think it's ok.
Lights are for security.
Spotlights a big no no.
But light string or one regular light IMO deal w/it😉
Thanks for the comments! 😊
Hi guys. You Are great. We watch your Vedeo all the time. Hopefully we see you on the road in the future.
Thanks so much and thanks for watching! We hope to have meetups in the future when the climate becomes more feasible for it.
We are both retired we have a 40 foot rig we do take trips.
We will be on the road soon full-time
Where we lived before going full time fences are rare and nobody walks through your yard, that would be considered a real invasion of privacy.
Exactly!
Even dogs understand property boundaries. Why some people don’t seem to understand is beyond me.
Most new developments will not allow fences because they are unsightly and limit socializing. In LA many yards are quite small so fencing makes more sense. I enjoy the openness of an unfenced yard. The only downside is the neighbors dog makes an occasional unwanted deposit.
Oh the ups and downs! 😏
So we cant leave our outside lights on at night for security ?
I think the big complaints are over those "scare lights" which shine out almost like a spotlight. Many rigs don't have them now.
lt should be a common sence thing. How close is you light from others' bedrooms? You might want to go outside and look at where your lights are shinning.
Do you use ceramic/glass plates, bowls, mugs, etc in the RV or will they break while traveling?
Yes you can totally use them! You just have to make sure on moving day they are secure not to rattle around during travel. RVers have different ways of doing this so it just depends on your set up. In the cabinet they are in, you don't want things stacked up on moving day that could fall over. Others have told us they have one plastic storage bin that those items go into for moving day then back in the cabinet upon arrival at the next destination. The benefit of having real dishes far outweighs the need to secure them on moving day. Good question!
@@GetawayCouple How about pets getting into trash cans? Do you recommend a trash can with a lock? Would the Simple Human trash can be too big?
I don't have a fence in my yard, plus we have a middle school in our neighborhood, kid walking home will cut through and i am fine with it. At a campsite, if someone cut through, i position outdoor furniture to make it difficult. Cigarette smoke and buts are ridiculous. I am okay with lights at nightlights, some campgrounds get very dark.
Thanks for sharing!
Just got to love the ending of your video. So funny. Definitely going to subscribe. Great video guy's.
Awesome! Thank you!
