Without question the greatest player of all time.
Exactly Right Sir
Thank you!@@richardtharp1608
At the time till a young boy named Tiger Woods went on tv n demonstrated his swing that would make him the new greatest player of all time
Without question the greatest sportsperson of all time. And im a massive Tom Watson fan
@@dlamiss Yup, I'll agree with that as well!!
I'm 39 just getting back into golf after not swinging a club for 8 years, but still remember watching a VHS "Golf My Way"with my Dad before he went and played pennant and how simple he made things. I still hit a 1 wood like a PW. Still hit a fade by aiming down the left and opening up my club face. But still can't understand how he could hit 1 iron like that. He is legend!
The greatest pressure putter of all time. When he needed it he got it. A great mind and competitor.
He was so relaxed this dude at like 70 say here made this massive putt just walking up not even taking 2 seconds to line up a 70 footer and made it with massive speed like wtf? Lol truely an incredible golfer and an outstanding putter. His driver was underatted also did you know he won a long drive back then with those clubs hitting 340 yards. Like wtf?
To this day I continue to get the impression that Jack is the best mind in sports. Not golf, sports.
86 Masters everyone watching on Sunday knew where Jack was. When Seve went in the drink and opened the door, everyone, including Norman and Kite knew who was gonna win. Still recall the chills and tears like it was yesterday. The best.
Norman bogeyed the last to miss a playoff
If you have a chance, check '86 Masters episode of ESPNs Battlelines.
Nicklaus was golf's greatest Champion Period!!!! Not just a Maojor tournament champion! He will always be the Greatest Golfer of all Time!
My IDOL ...best golfer and SPORTS ICON ever.
For the 23 people who disliked - you have no clue about golf - the game, the integrity (on and off course) and statistics ! SUPER HERO !
People have a right to their opinion. Shouldn't be criticized for it. From a J.N. fan.
They probably think Shooter McGavin was real
or they dont like rolex
Supported the grotesque madman Trump.
@@davidwebster3107 oh shut up libtard snowflake....I bet your a biden-obama loving dumb ass
I was born in 1970 and only putted a bit before but in 1986 my grandfather said on Masters Sunday something special is going on come watch with me and I watched the final round of the Masters…that summer I got a job working at a local golf course and bought that big putter Jack used and along with a set of clubs my grandpa gave me it started me on my love of golf..I’m not a champion but became a 6 handicap and have so many great memories playing this great game..thank you for the motivation Mr. Nicklaus…..
The undisputed GOAT on and off the course. Won 18 majors and came in second 19 times. When Tiger dies I'll say oh well. When Jack dies I'll cry my eyes out.
Let "it" go bro. Let it go, lol.
Just fuck off

@@oldschoolmuscle4436 he's just pissed because he knows that Jack is the best but doesn't want to admit it.
I missed Jack's peak years but I'm glad I got to see him win his last major. The greatest ever
Golfers come and they go and there were many great golfers who made this game what it is today, but to me Mr. Nicklaus is Still The Man.....18 Majors, 19 seconds by one or two stroke, Will stand the test of time...Thanks You Mr. Nicklaus for setting the Bar So High, that Only a Saint would ever Try to take it on....
it needs no Saint to try to take it on, but just that one golfer who has the same sports attitude as Jack had , and this same golfer attributes such as never surrender and putting best under extreme pressure :-)
The benchmark as a golfer set so high……May be caught ……benchmark as a human being….never be caught . We are so lucky to able to look back at these films .
The greatest sportsman for me, to be at the top for 3 decades is something else and never be repeated. What stands out about Jack isn't his 18 majors, it's how many times he came 2nd and 3rd.....I mean he was in the mix in nearly every major for 30 plus years....just wow!!! Here in the UK in 2000, they had a vote for the greatest sportsman and ali won, for me Jack should have won as he is greatest of all time
easy to win back in the days when you were out driving everyone...
@@habs7646
Are you serious.... Yeah dead easy to win majors... Why didn't John daly win 10 majors then in the 90s. Lost for words on your comment its that bewildering
Being a great golfer like Nicholas is one thing. Being a great human being it's another. Devotion to family and values and morals speaks volumes for Jack Nicklaus. A great golfer a great champion and a super great human being.
And that's why the tiger lovers hate him...
@@lionofjudah4574 A bit harsh! - I am 100% Jack Man but I think you might have misread Sean B a little, at worst he made his pro Jack point a litle clumsy but he definetly comes across as a Pro Jack man, as everyone should! (Just think of how many majors Jack would have won in a period when Palmer, Player. Watson and the like were not about)
*Nicklaus*
I got to know his family a little bit (Gary played golf on our team at OSU) and he is very genuine and amazing human being. i have some stories would love to share but can't do that here online!
Sean B Quit generalizing. I’m a huge Tiger lover and love Nicklaus for who he was as a person.
You’re the real hater.
He isn't just golf's greatest major champion, he is golf's greatest champion period!
nobody dominated the field as much as Tiger Woods did.
@@habs7646 Woods never had to contend with the field of NUMEROUS Major Champions that Nicklaus had to conquer over his 30+ year career. Please remind us All: How many Majors does Woods have and how many years was the drought between his second to last and his last major?
@@ruthlesshack1279 please remind me what the fuck does winning majors have to do with being the GOAT? He dominated the field way more than Nicklaus did.
Jack is the best to ever play the game end of story. Tiger is 2nd
@@ruthlesshack1279 uhhh. Numerous...he just won a major chalk full of them st about 70% of his ability level...so
What we’ve gotta remember in the Tiger v Jack debate is Jack was a legend in his spare time... he didn’t play anywhere near as many tournaments. The greatest mind of the game and the greatest champion
Actually Jack played far more tournaments. Jack has played about 80 more majors and over 200 more PGA tournaments. Tiger has had a lot more injuries and made a lot of mistakes. Fell into the Rockstar like figure and caved into the having endless women throwing themselves at you. But he's redeemed himself. People aren't perfect. Jack has made very few mistakes though and that is respectable.
Get your facts straight before you say stuff. Tiger hasn't played nearly as many tournaments
Tiger's win percentage is by far the best out of anybody. And that's including tournament for tournament because obviously Jack in his later years didn't win many tournaments which decreased his win percentage quite a bit but even in their primes, tiger was winning a significantly higher percentage of tournaments. And that's kind of a way to guage it. Kind of like free throws in basketball. The best way to guage who's a better free throw shooter is by looking at make percentage, not total makes. If I was a betting man, if you could put tiger vs jack in their primes against each other I'd choose tiger and I think most people would. Competiton has become better over time because more and more people play golf over time yet there are only a limited number of spots on tour. Yet tiger managed to still outperform Jack. No disrespect to Jack, he's an all time great, but tiger is the GOAT.
@@jhaz89 jack won more majors more 2nd place finishes more top tens in majors than any one in history. tiger was a front runner with superior equipment . jack also had superior competition. tiger beat a choking phil. jack had to beat arnie player trevino Watson Ballesteros. norman Billy Casper All who were better golfers than phil. last but last not least tiger himself said to b the greatest golfer ever he had to win the most majors. I'm not sure if tiger is even the second best golfer ever.. If jack played in his prime with the equipment they have today he could of had 30 majors..
Like the Jordan LeBron debate, Jack is MJ and Tiger is LeBron.
Wow, never knew the story of him spending time with his family, over playing in tournaments. Pretty much says it's all right there. Such a great guy
he could have easily broke Sneed's record for tour wins but he didn't care..rather be at home with the family.
On the PGA Tour the players that play in the morning on Thursday then play the afternoon round in the afternoon on Friday and visa versa. Jack had a gentleman’s agreement with the tournament sponsors (excluding the majors) to play one of the latest rounds on Thursday and one of the earliest on Friday. That way he could fly in on Thursday morning if he wanted to and fly home on Friday early afternoon in time to be home for kids activities and dinner. Since he was almost always on the leader board his Saturday tee time was one of the later ones so he could spend Friday night at home and fly back to the tournament on Saturday morning. He was in the stands for a lot of Friday night football games.
Jack told Tiger to get married and have a family so that Tiger could have someone to play for. Unfortunately Tiger listened. 😂
The greatest of all time... It's insane how many courses Jack Nicklaus has designed in the world... They are literally all over the place...
Character beats competence all the time, but with Jack, we got both.
GOAT for certain.
My biggest thrill was interviewing my childhood hero, Jack Nicklaus, at the 1996 U.S. Open at Oakland Hills.
Our biggest thrill was to have this legend on our Bank Notes.... Scotland loves him 🏴🏴💷 and could spend him 🤣🤣🏌️♂️
Amazed this tribute did not finish with Jack's birdie on the 18th at St Andrews in 2005, his last competitive round.
The undisputed GOAT on and off the course.
Goodness these vintage golfers have such an amazing class to their character. The way they carried themselves and respected each other. Golf is more popular than ever now but I'm so envious of those who experienced these golfers in their primes.
Legend, that good we got to spend him 🏴🏴🏴🏴 £5 Nicklaus notes.... can't give much more respect
I played Jack Nicklaus in my mind playing 10,11, and 12 back to my house every day as a kid… One ball I hit was mine, and the 2nd ball I hit was his … He won every time .. What a great tribute …
The ultimate Class act in Sports..
What makes someone a great player? A little thing called..."IT"
Jack had IT.
It gives you chills...
Executing well under pressure sets the great players apart from the good players.
It's better referred today as the "X" factor.
Great human being. What a pleasure to learn from this man.
When you think about the equipment they used back then very different to the technology that goes into today's golf clubs. in my opinion the greatest golfer of all time by far.
equipment has no impact... they were used to the equipment, which isnt a big deal
Agreed, not tiger
Jack had much more serious competition too!!
Are you kidding? In Tigers area(now) there's so much more competition. The PGA tour now gets the best few golfers of so many different countries. Even Jack will tell you that.
Nope, it is not the equipment. It is the player!
Remember in 1998 Jack, at 58, was seriously challenging for another Masters. Finished tied for 6th only 4 shots back.
What a time I chose to watch this. His Memorial tournament kicks off today!
It just doesn't get any better. A great man, who played the game of golf greater than any other!
Jack...Sir Jack if you in any way reading this, you have inspired us, more than anyone to this incredible game, i have to thank you, if not personally, to make a simple, one might argue "stupid game" into a lifelong quest for getting better, getting good; getting BETTER ! You are a legend !
what a wonderful most memorable comment you posted :-)
"I know my family and my family knows me" Amen Jack, Amen!
I'll admit I got a little teary eyed there at the end, great man and great champion.
The Golden Bear.....One of the greatest to step foot onto a course
You mean THE GREATEST!
The best golfer i have seen a true champion and a wonderful human being cheer's bob from down under.
Talk about a life well played. Greatest player of all time, and a great humanitarian, the charity work He and his wife Barbara have done is awesome.
watching this for the first time- Jack was 75 when this video was first presented- he's 86 now - AMAZING talent-
Just a great Man and an example to all of us.
I grew up idolising my father and his golf. He played the game the way he lived his life. And my father idolised Jack Nicklaus.
Wow. Describes my dad also brother. Excellent description
Happy 80th Birthday Jack Nicklaus
I heard a sports writer the other day trying to make the case that Tiger is better than Jack Nicklaus. All I could do is laugh. Let’s look at the facts: 18 Major Victories. 6 Masters, 5 PGAs, 4 US Opens, and 3 Open Championships. He has 19 second place finishes at the major championships. He also played against better competition during his career with worse equipment and on worse manicured golf courses. There is no question Jack is G.O.A.T.!
I think Jack is very underrated with his putting! Clutch! Cheer's
THE greatest golfer OF ALL TIME
TW is.
@@habs7646 - Woods had the most talent and was the most exciting pro golfer, and should have taken passed Nicklaus for most major wins, but he didn't take care of his wife, his body or his reputation. The result damaged his health, his game and his career. It damn near cost him his life.
The greatest.
for me he will always be the best in the world !!!
I look forward to the Memorial every year, and just the chance to get a glimpse of Jack and Barbara. Last year, we were lucky enough to be in a picture in The Columbus Dispatch on Thursday, after the practice round on Wednesday. Even though it’s just the back of me and my two sons heads. Before that, on the same day he went by us on a cart and said how are you doing? Thank you, Jack.
Always admired the man and his clubs. Superb mind and will to win for decades. Humility in victory and a champion in defeat to say the least. Ranked #9 of 100 Greatest Athletes of the 20th Century (Sports Illustrated, 1999).
There needs to be an epic movie made for this champion of a man! 🏆
Brilliant video what a great great legend of the game on and off the course he's done so much for the game of golf ⛳
The one lesson Tiger forgot to learn from Jack, which cost Tiger the title as the undisputed G.O.A.T was "I put my family before golf".... Imagine how many more majors Tiger would have won if he had just adhered to that one simple lesson from day 1.
Very true. One day someone will beat Jack's record, but please do not let it be TW.
ok Boomer.
Okay if you want to bring their personal life into it. TW= G.O.A.T. in golf JACK= G.O.A.T. in family
Thanks USGA for the great video on Jack Nicklaus
Faafetaitele from Samoa
What a Man...thank you.
I grew up watching him . He was The Greatest .
What a great man! Wish I found out about Jack sooner. Much respect for this man. His love for the game, and his sportsmanship is just amazing.
The only folks who think TW is better than Jack are those who are under 50 because they never saw anything Jack did. But those old enough to remember both and to have seem both, know Jack hands down is the GOAT, for many reasons, not just the # of majors.
35:20 gives me chills. 66 will tie 65 will win, exact number I have in mind go shoot it. Exactly what he did. And 36:42 YES SIR. And to shoot 65 at Augusta at 46 years old simply immortal.
Jack Nicklaus has inspired so many golfers especially me thanks Mr. Nicklaus ❤😊u the Man I mean 18majors that's just awesome 👍❤
Phenomenal documentary extremely motivating and inspiring!!
A wonderful production. Jack represents all that is great about golf.
0:46 the guy directly behind Jack was so mesmerized he didn't even bother watching the ball after contact, lol
You know you were joking But that's how to study a swing, stay focused on the body movements, I am now so old I study the best lady golfers, can relate to their muscle power, and only lately did I realise how closely I was watching hips and rear end, right through the follow-through, (well that's what I tell the wife when she sees me watching RUclips in slow motion)
@@ATPMolloy1 Exactly!
the greatest ever golfer there is love him so much
I was too young for Arnie and Jack was in his heyday when I was growing up and playing so he was the guy I idolized. He was such a good sport win or lose.
Love this
Jack was the greatest. Bobby Jones was a close second for how he played and how he lived.
Good exercise for all ages. Sports is always fun to watch
As a golfer struggling not to sway back and forth through the swing I love this swing more than any other.
He is so centered and rotates so well. I wish nobody had ever told me to shift my weight as a kid ... the golf swing is clearly meant to be centered. Bad habits forged as a child are so hard to forget.
MY FAVORITE VIDEO EVER!
Tiger may one day sit on his throne.. But he will never wear his crown.
I wish i had seen him in his prime, but, i did get to see him close up at Royal county down, he and Palmer had something special, s force field arpund them. Im glad least i got to seen him.
Thanks for the memories Mr Nicklaus
Class. Just the best
Jack didn't out prepare, didn't out think anyone. He simply outplayed everyone. Every competitive golfer can think of a time they came through under pressure. And every competitive golfer knows of a guy who can do it better. Jack's just the one guy who doesn't know anyone better than him at playing for high stakes.
Beautiful.
하품도 안하는데 눈물이 찔끔 하네요!
Jack is my first golf ☆STAR☆
#1 of all time ... greatest player ever
I read a cute story that Jack told himself. When he was a boy he played alone nearly every Summer morning. Like most clubs Scioto had a rule that juniors could not tee off before 8AM in the morning and then not until after 3PM in the afternoon. So every morning he would cut through a neighborhood yard that was on a tee (I don’t remember if it was front or back nine) that allowed him to play 4 holes and then be on the first tee right at 8AM. He would then play 18, eat lunch and then practice until he could tee off again in the afternoon. This ritual went on for several years. He said he had no idea who owned the yard he cut through and they never once came out to ask him to stop.
When I hear that opening theme I smile like hell
I am great admirer of jack and mently close to his way of life , I am 62 years old lives in Pakistan, though started playing golf approx at the age when jack won his last major.i have no address of Great jack to contact him,may I request USGA to contact jack my regard and request him to give any souvenir signed by him so I could place it my house .Hope USGA would be kind enough to convey my request and good wishes to jack and his family.
Brilliant 👌🔥🤩
The greatest golfer ever!
Always great to see a documentary on Jack. What it doesn't tell us is that besides winning 18 majors, he ended up second 19 times. What a champion. And like Kareem's sky hook, Jack had a unique swing and putting style that somehow no one has copied.
29 times as second…

You can tell how much the first win at the US amateur championship meant to Jack due to the fact he forgot to take his hat off when shaking hands.
A family man,through and through.

Jack in his prime using today's technology? He might've been unbeatable!
No doubt... Would've been hitting his driver in the upper 300s low 400s easily.
Ah good point.. but in my humble opinion... have today's overpaid clones play with the equipment of his genre...McGregor keyhole driver, Dunlop Aussie blade irons,,WOOSIE used them so, he's worthy of mention also,, now.... Jack would analiate the field.... Trevino Watson / Tom,,not the other one😂😂 & Sevvy would battle it out in the OTHER tournament.❤👠🍺🍸🍸🍹⛳⛳⛳⛳⛳ oh balata ball as well 😂⛳⛳⛳
Jack would be the best today. But with the world wide expansion of the game, 18 majors would not have been in his reach today.
jack in Tigers era, would've had no chance against Tiger.

A truly great American for reasons that extend far beyond his prowess on the golf course. And so is his dear wife who has spearheaded the great work they do for sick kids.
I think Tiger also does tremendous work for kids. both are great with their charity work

Jack Nicklaus will always go down as the "Greatest of all time" because of his equipment. No Tour Pro today would play persimmon woods with steel shafts and a balata ball. His 18 Majors would equate to 36 Majors with current-day technology.
