- Swapping LeBron James for Kevin Durant would be a move that would send shockwaves around the NBA. According to Bleacher Report, both the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets would benefit from such a move. LeBron would get his wish in reuniting with Kyrie Irving while KD gets the fresh start he’s looking for alongside Anthony Davis. This is an interesting scenario where both teams actually get better not necessarily because KD or LBJ is the better player, but just because of the fit with Brooklyn vs. LA
I totally agree. This is the best option for both teams, but at 1st both superstars would resist. If I was the teams I would make the trade. The Lakers obviously want to gain control and Lebron isn't having it, and Brooklyn needs to get deep into the playoffs, and Lebron and Kyrie could make that happen. I actually think Westbrook would play better with Durant who is a natural efficient scorer which Lebron isn't. It makes perfect sense, and the storyline of Westbrook and Durant reuniting along with Lebron and Kyrie would be perfect for the media. Both teams would have new life and a "Big 3" where for the most part everyone could co exist. Plus Lebron and Simmons is another storyline. This should be the trade. It would be awesome. Neither team is going anywhere outside of this option. This keeps them relevant for the next 2 years. I think the Lakers with Durant would be a top 4 seed, and so would Brooklyn if everyone buys in.
@@Paul.Burrell the next 2 years? LeBron isn’t re-signing with the Nets, so the Nets would lose both Kyrie and LeBron (+$60mil worth of business assets) after this next season for *nothing* and only have Simmons on contract longer term.
That’s the whole problem. Nets have zero picks so once LeBron is out the door, all they are doing is helping others get lottery picks. It’s the Boston Trade all over again, but worse because LeBron is still wanted everywhere in the league as a free agent.

Got to space the floor with legendary shooters and give him a wide open to drive /kick and then hide him on defense. He pick and rolls you to death until he finds a small Guard or a slow slavic big and got a wide open lane. If he can't - he can't do much. He just got too many limitations on his game to be the best player in the league. Shoots 35% outside of 3 feet for career and 73% from the Line. For comparison Magic who they say can't shoot - shot 49% outside of 3 feet and 86% from the line. And he did it as a Pg in the 80s when it was way harder !!!

I think I actually agree with Skip on this one. Shannon keeps saying it doesn’t make sense for the Lakers to get KD cause he’ll just get up and leave but at the same time there’s no guarantee that Lebron stays in LA once his contract expires. To me they’re in the same spot whether they keep Lebron or get KD
Difference is if he decides to leave, so be it, we get cap space and there are no shortage of guys that would go to LA, if we would get KD, we would be stuck with this snake for 4 years.
You can’t trade players once they are not on your payroll in 2023. You also can’t get started on a rebuild after LeBron leaves because there’s no picks coming with this deal to replenish the ones KD told you to trade away. That’s the major problems on the Nets side. No present after this season, and no future but hoping to seriously overpay a Julius Randle, CJ, or Horford type to play with Simmons.
Who’s going to take on LeBron’s expiring contract after he says he’s not re-signing in Brooklyn? Especially for the: 4 - 1st rounders, a great prospect, and an All-Star level player that the Nets are demanding for KD on his 4yr contract ??? Nobody. (that’s like giving up 4 picks for Washington Bullets MJ. Right after he just pulled a Simmons and sat out / “Re-retired” the remaining 2yrs on his Bulls contract, in a pout over Phil Jackson & Pippen not re-signing in Chicago)
They would also be losing Kyrie’s expiring contract, and we all know he isn’t re-signing as a free agent in Brooklyn after the past 2yrs of Fiascos.
Keeping LeBron gives them a high value sign-and-trade asset for whoever drafts Bronny, and the current high probability that LeBron wants to keep his family in LA & will sign another 1 plus 1.
Trading him out for KD, means you’ve hitched your next 4yrs to him staying happy, but also *healthy!* A non-playmaker and non-leader who simply won’t talk in the locker room for weeks at a time, and demands even more management-level decision making power than LeBron. The Lakers & Nets head coaching decisions are the easiest examples of just adding your opinion, and outright demanding your choice(Kidd) gets the job.

The more I think about it the more I like the idea. It’s a win win for both teams if you think about it. Both teams will be contenders and fir their role. Just imagine LBJ dotting up all those shooters in BKN and KD killing teams up with a healthy AD.

Ok my view:
Skip, shut up! In addition to him speaking alot of forked tougued nonsense, he is again speaking out both sides of his mouth.
1. He wants lebron to be traded because his beloved Jordan was once on the chopping block as a trade consideration.
2. If kd and rust bucket meet lebron and kyrie in the playoffs that would make his year.
3. If kd wins it all, he'll say kd did what lebron couldn't do, which is turn rusty into winner.
My suggestion: trade Simmons for rusty if the numbers can work.....get Seth curry also.
