I have to admit. Dan here is better than/ on par with some of my past lecturers as his explanation is so well constructed in so many ways. I'm only 21 minutes in but I feel like I've already learned so much about freelance design on the client-side of things that my college simply couldn't teach me. While my college did give me all my core skills needed to go into the design as my career, Dan really is helping me develop my skills in an industry-focused context. Love all the work you do Dan. Thank you.

I Will definetly be purchesing your course I think is worth my money. thank you.

They are no longer called "symbols" for anyone who is coming to this in 2020 and is confused. They are now called components, and it seems that you no longer need to select "push overrides" because when I changed the text and looked at the duplicated page, it had already updated.

Hope this helps. Love the tutorial thanks so much I've found it very helpful.

I just wanted to accent on something - when going to iconfinder and downloading "free" icons - there are two types of those free icons. If the license is CC0 (Creative Commons 0) you can download and start using away with no worries. But if the license is CC3 (Creative Commons 3), this type of license requires you to attribute the author. So if you use these icons in a commercial project that gets a lot of exposure, then legally and mostly ethically it's good to put an attribution somewhere on your website. Lots of people don't do that and I'm not saying you'll definitely get sued or something like that. But as fellow creative persons we should respect others' work and it's a common courtesy. The more people do it, the greater the chance it gets to be the norm.

I know filmography and photography has a 'law of thirds' or whatever it's called, where you should have the focus be at a third of the screen. Here, it's the person explaining. But it's honestly better in the middle imo.

As always, great video. Adobe updated their XD software. Symbols have now been relaced with 'components'. The functionality has also changed. Once you click on the object of your choice, it is highlighted in green with a diamond shaped image . This indicates that it is the main object.

Thanks! This video was very helpful and informative. I have one question tho, do I need to be good at illustrations or drawings to become a professional UI/UX designer? I really suck at drawing but I think I'm good at design decisions and other design stuff, so is it possible to have a successful career as a UI/UX designer without being good at drawing and illustrations?

this is the question I've had on my mind I'm getting kinda crazy. I just got my degree in multimedia arts and I've learned how to create websites from html, css or the cms based wordpress. however we weren't really taught about that much everything that goes on before making the website. the research, the testing (like what the heck is AB testing?! are there different types of testing out there?!) and process that goes with it. that's why am very hesitant to apply to UX companies. I really hope I can get a mentor out there because I don't know where to start.

Go on the internet. Read like hell. Nowadays schools and collages don't give enough information that is required. Make reading a habit and read smartly.

@@angelsv hello man sorry for the late reply. what I did was I applied for UI design first so that I can first see what do UX people do and then maybe I can transition into UX. While at UI, I also watch a ton of videos about UX. just searching through youtube. I subscribed to youtubers like Mike Locke and read a lot of articles especially on UX Collective. it's a publication on medium. Hope this helps.
