I remember seeing this at the time. Back in the late 70s and early 80s the charts were much more interesting and eclectic. Had forgot Sakamoto was on this
It always kind of amazes me that this was one of their bigger hits, considering other singles released and other songs on this album. Not knocking it at all, just a bit surprised.
It was filmed shortly before the broadcast not in Dec 81. Sakamoto is playing with them and he didn’t arrive in the UK until February to record his wife Akiko Yano’s LP and a single with Sylvian.
Reading about the band at this time, the relationship between Sylvian & Karn had all but disintegrated. Just as the band had become mainstream they were breaking up.
Can't imagine current generations have an attention span for such an intro....RIP Annie, fond memories...

And the wonderful Annie 🥲
RIP Annnie Nightingale
Absolutely wonderful stuff! They don't make music this good anymore.
It's interesting to think that Ghosts got in the UK pop charts. It's actually quite an unusual song. :-)
It was played at our school disco! We were all 11 -12
@@bmt3315 - Fantastic!
Its a progression of their Nightporter song, itself in turn heavily inspired by Gymnopedies 1, 2 and 3 by Erik Satie
@@Banglish123 - I know what you mean. I can hear that in it.
Got to about 5 did'nt it?
Absolutely wonderful band, great performance. Good to see Annie too! Thank you.
Great band
1980’s WOW!!
Loved watching OGWT. Ah the memories. RIP dear lady.....
I have this on 7'' single. Not listened to it for years. Thanks for uploading
So you don't like it much, then . . . .
And it's not worth the time in trying to sell it for tuppence 🙄
R.I.P Annie.

I’m surprised nobody mentions the amazing bass player! Hmm 🤔
Did Nightingale ever get Japan, or did she remain perplexed for the rest of her unremarkable career as a typical music journalist? :0/

Had sylvian took micks girlfriend off him by then?

A voice like Brian Ferry on ketamine. Great performance though.
