I was a teen when this story aired and I always sided with Lucky, even as fans were angry at him, saying it was none of his business. Twenty years later and…I still think he was right! He found out the man he idolized, the man everyone told him he was a mini version of, was a rapist. And then everyone was telling him he’s not allowed to have a reaction to that. Absurd. It helped that JJ played this part to perfection

Yeah, it's completely ridiculous to say it was none of his business. By that logic, people can't be pissed about the Holocaust, lynchings, serial killers, school shootings, or anything else. The truth is, Luke and Laura just didn't want to answer to their kid. And a lot of people treat kids like second-class citizens, so they side with the parents. It's so frustrating.

I agree w/ THESEVENTHSEAL777! In the 1990's the only 3 story line's that had that intense emotional heart-rendering moment was THE RAPE STORYLINE, STONE'S AIDS and BJ'S DEATH.... PLUS THE ACTING AND WRITING WAS JUST SO POWERFUL AND SUPERB - watching clips like this makes me float on cloud nine:)

He never forced himself on a woman, though. And the writers only had him do those other things because they couldn't get the actor they wanted (JJ) and needed to write him out in a way that he could return at any time.

As bizzare as the Luke and Laura story is....It’s not Luckys business. I get he’s freaked out. Who wouldn’t be? But Luke and Laura clearly love/loved each other. Love their kid...And if Laura forgave him...and I admit! Only on a soap would that happen! LOL...it’s strictly between them and nobody else’s business. Not even Luckys. Just the way I see it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

as a teen you still see the world in black and white.

@@truthprevails4386 - You hit the nail right on the head. When you're a teenager you don't have the benefit of hindsight and experience and because of that you tend to see the world in simple black and white. Unfortunately life is extremely messy and a thousand different shades of grey permeate our choices and actions. That's not to say Luke's not entitled to feel the way he does but as we mature and grow we begin to understand that the things people say and do can't always be divided up into just good and bad.

Bullshit. It's completely ridiculous to say it was none of his business. By that logic, people can't be pissed about the Holocaust, lynchings, serial killers, school shootings, or anything else. People aren't allowed to feel anything at all about things that don't directly involve them. It's complete and utter crap.
The truth is, Luke and Laura just didn't want to answer to their kid. They're his parents, but that doesn't mean he's not allowed to judge them for their actions or mistakes. And a lot of people treat kids like second-class citizens, so they side with the parents. It's so frustrating.

@@kathrynhoward4196By that logic then parents should tell their children every single detail of their private lives. Everything. Because kids have the right to judge every decision they have ever made. What happened between Luke and Laura happened between them and no one else. And let's talk about Laura who was a victim of an assault...I think it's bull that someone who wasn't even born at the time has the right to judge her for how she got through it? What about Liz's kids do they get to judge her for the dress she was wearing, or being alone in the park at night, or I guess they could judge her for not going to the police right away and having an exam done. And let's think of all of the other things luke has done...now he has a problem with ALL of it. I always loved Lucky but the way he talked to Laura was uncalled for and none of his business. Just my opinion.
