It's interesting that the Wodaabe beauty standards center around the male, as opposed to the West, where it is centered around the female, who are typically the ones adorning themselves with makeup and jewelry. And it's in complete contrast to the standards of beauty amongst men in the West, where we are attracted to large, muscular men, strong, powerful, and masculine. It's so fascinating to see the difference. Even the beauty contests are so different to the West, where it is usually females that participate. I'm not even sure I've ever seen a male beauty contest before. I wonder if they would be equally as fascinated to know about the West's beauty standards. Would love to see a "Wodaabe react to Western beauty contests" on youtube!
Absolutely! I've seen other remote tribes shown pictures of 'beautiful' western women and they don't think they're beautiful, the biggest complaint was they're too skinny. It's really interesting isn't it ☺

The guys, l think, are imitating a bird species, and the longer you gaze at them, the more possible this seems. .,.. a great white bird. I totally love them for being so close to the natural order of things in which the female, while not conspicuous, is the orchestrator and the men must 'peacock' themselves, to become acceptable to the female. I think it would be wonderful, and save countless women lives which, it seems, men so easily extinguish, if there were more societies that work similarly.
