I think a bike company should do a counter advert about the unpleasantness of bus travel like sitting in chewing gum, getting sexually harassed, and standing in the rain waiting for a bus that never arrives. This advert explains why bus and car companies lobby for mandatory helmet laws.
@@Kay-wl9vr The video shows how this bus company understands the negative aspect of wearing a helmet and that it can dissuade people from cycling. Imagine you are a tourist in London that just wants to pootle around. You are very unlikely to take a helmet with you especially if you are an international traveller. Perhaps then a bike hire company has to provide helmets as well. Even if they could do that without them getting lost or stolen, that increases costs, and perhaps worse how would you keep them clean? Who wants to wear a helmet that might have been worn by 10 people that day. This barrier to cycling inevitably will have people choosing buses and taxis.
There are a few ads that stick with you for a long time even after they've stopped airing them. The Go Compare man and the Compare the Meerkats come to mind. My dad has been singing a song about the National Lottery from an ad they ran in 2013. From the first time i saw this ad I knew this would be one of them. I dont even get the bus (electric car though woohoo) so its not even technically "effective advertising" or whatever but its just so catchy i cant help but rewatch it over.... and over..... and over.....
If you largest possible diss against cycling is "helmet hair" then lol (more of a diss against bike helmets I guess?) Bike wins every time with a bus, especially in a congested city and you save money and get free exercise.
Taking the piss out of cyclists for being weird… have you ever met a stagecoach driver? I’m amazed they can focus on the road whilst licking the windows.
lmao you're either the mother of someone in this advert, in the advert yourself or worked on it in some way. This is what you'd get if you asked a 50 year old coffin dodger what they think appeals to students. Clueless and cringe inducing.
Imagine seeing this ad for the first time - like I did- while waiting in the rain for a bus that is apparently coming 30 minutes late if at all. And it isnt a rare occurance.
If only stagecoach could use their money to invest into their actual bus services rather than cringey ads targeted at uni students. I’m a Warwick student and many of us use stagecoach to commute from Leamington Spa to campus and often they come very late or never at all. Back in my hometown stagecoach use some of the oldest crappy buses and are late as usual.
I have to say that this shows a bit of a judgemental state when the woman at the freshers fair was saying “Scanning in the room at the freshers fair, who’s that with a… helmet hair, he’s giving me a axe, can you get him a come, he should’ve got the bus, does bike at home?, hairline roadkill, have you lost it?, well not me, I bussed it, bossed it.” The reason that I describe this as a bit of criticism to cyclists is because the woman during that advert was complaining regarding the way that person had looked after he had taken his helmet off. My honest opinion would be that I don’t think that adverts like this should really be made because of how it can create an incredibly strong influence on children, and young people as it often confuse them on whether what’s right, and what’s wrong as the reason that being the case is because of how it can make children, and young people assume that it’s okay to criticise other people because of the way that their appearance is shown.
anyone else noticed this James Acasterfication of advert people all of a sudden im seeing a pale ginger dude dressed in a green jumper and top wonder what the hell gravelax is having to google it i mean ask a random dude in a lake and then he says in his winey pathetic voice the gravelax please and now this bs why why the hell r all these ads all as in two of them why r all of them suddenly focusing on this random comedian i love the tv is ruining a dude i love wtf
You say that like this generation had anything to do with this advert but I'd bet money it was made by some clueless geriatric that thinks they're "down with the kids".
@@TheAdArchive And the reason cycling has this reputation for people riding in lycra and particularly ugly helmets is because there is no infrastructure. And because those are generally speaking the only type of people who are willing to ride when it feels so unsafe and unpleasant. To get everyone else riding, you either have to build Dutch style infrastructure or ban cars from urban areas. And I think the ship has sailed on infrastructure in this country; where they’re even considering removing bollards from roads that were blocked off to through traffic decades ago. All because of this recent right wing freak out about the modern equivalent, LTNs.
I'm not gonna lie, I don't like cyclists. They jump on the pavement and crash into me. This is actually a flagrant breach of the law as they're meant to stay on the road but they just go wherever they feel like to the detriment of pedestrians like me
@@brianterry8775 If we had invested in cycling infrastructure 70 years ago like the Dutch did, there would be no conflicts between bicycles, pedestrians or cars. But we chose to make a country bad for everyone.

I keep getting this ad on Spotify and kept singing it to the point I had to look it up 💀
this is unironically one of my favourite ads it’s a bop
This ad is better than it has any right to be. It might be the only ad on RUclips that I've not skipped.
This is the most amazing advert I’ve ever seen… love it so much… all super talented: )
I agree😂
You've got to get out more...
You have such low aspirations.
The gilberts sure love this video

Absolutely amazing. Thank you for providing an amazing school bus everyday in Lincoln

The person at 0:08 is very cool and swag super talented too I heard
Ngl I feel like this whole group should get together and release some kind of ABBA style EP and see where they get with it
This is why this company's better than National Express
I came from the advert that comes on before the video starts. And give credit to whoever made this
0:38 Wanking squirrel 😂
cycling is way better than using a bus
Dangerous sayin' that in 'ere mate
Ad encouraging procrastination. Yeah, we have a good future

As I live in Plymouth. Stagecoach is shit with it's services as Plymouth City Bus has more services.

This ad is so wrong on so many levels, I will never use stagecouch bus, "good" job!
Same I use Plymouth City Bus
Same I hate Stagecoach bus and I would rather use Plymouth City Bus. My lover
I chose to watch this.
This is a filthy bop icl
Banger! 🔥🔥🔥
The thing I like most about this is that the main four could easily be sitcom leads in their own show. What I dislike is Stagecoach which sucks

HAHA love it!
This advert is up there with the crusha cat adverts! So good.

Im planning to make a bus company called KW Buses and the slogan will be called GET IN THERE! But this is way better 😎

Limit the number dogs allowed on buses … x5 big dogs ridiculous

Could have done without the cycling part, but otherwise it’s pretty great.
Yeah Tbf the cycling part feels cruel and not thought out well - especially when cycling is good for your health and the environment

how long does it take a cyclist to tell everyone they're a cyclist? can't be more than 20 seconds into a conversation
Hello cringe department
Nice, I hope that Exeter will get new electric buses sometime this year or next year.
Nope but Plymouth is haha. Plymouth City Bus is the best bus company in Plymouth
