My stepdad is awesome. My mom told me he's just like my dad, personality wise. A good man who likes wrestling, football, a Gothic soap opera called Dark Shadows, westerns, and some old school cartoons. He had a pet bird that my moms cats immediately became friends with. One of them, Wally, was by the birdie, Tinka's side when she wasn't feeling well. When my husband, father-in-law and I went to their apartment for Christmas, Wally was wearing a Santa hat, and had this "Get this off me, NOW!" expression on his face. I said "Hang on, buddy. I'll get it off for ya." My mom and stepdad were amazed at how we went all out for Christmas from the presents to the cookies and even 3 varieties of popcorn in a tin bucket.

I lived with my Aunt's boyfriend and her at that age and then they started cheating on each other and I was about 17 or 18 at the time. He had been in my life for at least 5 years before that,so it was tough to hear. We moved in to her new boyfriend's house(in another county)after I graduated High School. The first time I met him we went to the movies and he was a perfect gentleman. When we were in the bathroom there I told her he was "a keeper"and then after Summer vacation at my Granny's for 2 months(a tradition for me)I moved in and really liked it. They were married in December of 2007 and have been happily together ever since. We still have a good relationship and he taught me a lot about farm animals and vehicles and most of all life. I think one of the biggest deals in a divorce and a new stepfather (one that actually loves you) is realizing that man you just know for a few years have bring more love and caring to the family, than the man that was suppose to do it in the first place. I'm not saying is a bad thing, it's just hard to see that your father wasn`t that "hero" you thought all your childhood
