Heta v Baggish - match of the day. 154s and 160s and all down to tops on a decider.
Most exciting match today: BAGGISH - HETA. What a thriller!
Yes agreed it was a gripping match, I thought Waites- Campbell was the best overall that was a great match also MVG- Murray was good.

Shame for Heta. That third set he played unbelievable. Had really great comeback. It hurts when you go from 0-2 to 2-2 and match darts and still lose.
Basically he was the second person to hit a 160 checkout and still lose... crazy. I could not believe what I was seeing in that 4th leg in the final set...

Or 2016 he lost with a 105 Average to RvB.

Baggish v Heta was a real drama.
And yet so incredibly entertaining to watch. Things like this is what makes the world cup the tournament of the year.
Say what you want but North America darts are definitely on the rise. Baggish,Lauby,Campell,Smith played the best matches thus far against quality opponents...change my mind!

North American darts peaked in 1994 when:
- Larry Butler won the World Matchplay
- John Part won the BDO worlds
- Steve Brown came 3rd in the WDC (now PDC) worlds
Since then the averages of the best North Americans have remained totally stagnant while the rest of the world has pushed on and got better.

I disagree, MVG has been out of form since covid started. Hes throwing his B game right now. If he runs into Peter Wright or someone that has a good match he very well could get put out. He is missing far more doubles than I have ever seen.

Indeed. Like, how often does MVG find himself trying to check out...5? That's a World #1 and he needs to check out 5 and not even get it. That's not the kind of performance to be expecting out of MVG. He needs to pick up his game if he wants this. I wouldn't even have celebrated the way he did after the match, I'd start second guessing myself a little.
@@dirtyharry2029 I agree he hasn't been the same this year. He should have rolled Murray. Kudos to Murray for keeping composure and playing MVG well. Not an easy thing to do. But if MVG doesn't step it up a notch he's not going to be there at the end.

Ryan Murray played well, and maybe against anyone else he probably would've won! But MVG on this form could be unstoppable.

MVG is using his old darts or am i wrong, what about the Winmau contract?
Nobody really knows but MvG is gonna prioritize playing the best darts he can and I think even Winmau prefers him playing good with his old darts to playing bad with the new darts.
But I'm sure they are disappointed that MvG couldn't play his best with their darts.
Using his old darts but was told he gas a clause in his contract at 2 majors he can use what he wants. Anything else Winmau has the out.
@@Stenuarts5287 Are you saying he has an out for using other darts in two majors and in the rest he has to use Winmaus? That sounds very weird, he is not just gonna switch between darts and I'm pretty sure he has used his old darts in the last majors too.
@@Lucymai12 what I read online is in hus contract he is permitted to use whatever the heck he wants.. If he wants to use 3 javelins he can. Ill find it if i can and show you it. There are several top players that change there darts. Peter Wright changes his frequently...mid tourney as well. John Part in hus prime changed them..and others.

MVG attracted to be pushed into challenges. Any player can beat him on a given day. But it all depends weathe MVG allows that to happen. Last year was last year. This year he will come back strong.
hedman has the craziest form ive ever seen.
MVg better pull his socks up a lot. Murray took the best out of him. Watched this tournament from the start and some of the big names have not thrown great darts but some of the lesser known players are just explosive.
He averaged 108, but he needs to “pull his socks up”.

He may have averaged 108 but still not the MVg we are use to seeing. Can’t see him winning it this year. It is a strong field and seems to be other players more hungry than he is at the moment
@@trevorkearley8783 give the guy a break he's had a bad year and is easing his way back. He will be just as hungry even more so now as he has something to prove to himself fans and all his critics out there that he is still the man to beat. I think he will raise his game at the right time and has every chance I wouldn't bet against him.

@@thecatsarse There was a couple of instances where Hamilton threw the 3rd dart normally. Its painful to watch that motion everytime.
If it were painful for us to watch,what about poor Mr Kurz? :D I noticed he through the dart normal on the last dart.Also wondered at that point...Was it necessary all these jerky movements before he finally lets go of the frigging dart :)

We haven’t seen price play yet but Peter wright haven’t been tested because the last time he was under pressure he changed his darts three times on stage in the same game and lost,but MVG not only won the last tournament his averages is getting better

The title was a bit misleading, to be honest... When MVG is really "magical" he usually beats a Murray-level player 3 legs to 0 allowing the opponent no more than one or two legs...
Murray just did play that well. Especially the set he got. He had a 110 avg there.
And mvg was playing his top gear. His average was in the top 5 of avg of all time in world cup history
MVG had a 108.98 average in that match.... Murray was really pushing him that hard.
Credit to Ryan Murray, he could have gotten further into the tournament if he didn't draw MVG
