Absolutely gorgeous piece. I will be inheriting a very similar china cabinet. The mahogany or cherry wood is not my style. Once I get more practice painting furniture I might tackle the china cabinet that my parents inherited from my dad’s parents, that soon will be mine, though my mom might haunt me if I so paint it. 😊

Thanks so much! I also have a cabinet that I received from my grandmother that’s was my grandpas. I’ve sat on it for a long time about what i want to do with it. It also is a cherry, red wood finish but not my style. I think they would love to see us happy and makeover their furniture to our style compared to selling or throwing in the trash. How many coats do you put on? 1 base layer and 3 color ones?

Typically 2 coats of primer, 2-3 coats of paint and 2 coats of top coat.
