Full assignment is awesome if it stays that way! My most brutal shifts start with 3-4 PCU boarders, followed by transferring all of them out and getting 2 ICU pts in the same shift arrrrrrrggghhh
I’d rather reinsert a flexiseal…. I love a full assignment, but, I’ve had my assignment changed when another nurse complained that she couldn’t handle her patient load…and this was after I’d settled all my patients and passed meds and was charting. I took her assignment while she went to sit on her ass. When 7 am hit the oncoming nurse for my old assignment expected me to give her report and I said those aren’t my patients since 2200…and she went ballistic…because lazy nurse told her that she didn’t get report from me and that I’d complained about the assignment and asked to be moved. Thank god my reputation preceded me with this nurse. The charge from that floor has come down to my unit to try to poach me… No thank you They’re always asking if I can float up there…nope.
Full assignment for sure!! Hate the lingering admission when u have an empty bed
Yes, and the admission always comes when another one of your patients are tanking or its time for lunch! 😂
