David, love the brush hog. Looks like it does a great job for you out in the forest area. I had the notification bell clicked on your channel but for some reason did not get any notifications on all these videos so doing a little catch up today. Good camera work and quality on this. Cheers and thanks!
David . . . I really enjoyed this video because you answered my questions . . . I just purchased a B2650 with cab and have the RCR1248 cutter. Unfortunately, the PTO shaft seal was bad . . . the dealer ordered a new seal. I have owned it seven days but have not used it due to the seal leaking. I thought I may have to purchase a new PTO shaft if I add the QH from Landpride. . . thanks so much!
The 12 series is the economy line. What's the verdict after having it a couple years? Is it sturdy enough for your use or do you need the next model up? Thanks 👍
Dan, its has worked just fine for the light duty that I am giving it. My only complaint is that it sometimes gets "out of balance" and starts to shake the tractor. When this happens, I disengage it, throttle down and re-engage it. That usually clears it right up. This happens about once per hour. It is a bit narrow but I like it for getting into small spots. So, overall, I would do it again. Thanks!
Nice demonstration I have a bx23 and I'm thinking also to buy that cutter but my terrain is full of brush around 3/4" to 2" thick , do you think it will cut them? Or will just fall apart.
Matias, I would not use this cutter to cut through anything more than 3/4". You need to dig the larger brush out before brush cutting. I would use a grapple to pop all that stuff out and then clean it up with the brush cutter. Thanks!
Matias, i have RCR1242 that i run on my BX2350, i agree with David, 3/4", maybe 1" if its soft for this cutter. It looks like David is running it very low in this video (on the skids?), i was not as brave when learning mine. If you clear out ur thick stuff, this will make short work of the rest. I use mine in the woods to maintain underbrush, it is an awesome tool for the job.
@@ATR-42 thks for your reply , Since then I have bought my 1248lp and use it around. I try it at the beginning slowly until I got confident and cut up to around 1 1/2" willow bunch and stoll the tractor 🙁, since that I learned the limit. I'm happy with it, I'm making a lot of progress with it and up keeping the space that I clear last year . I'm 1 acre short of finish clearing my 3 acre lot. It's time consuming because many fallen and standing trees so I can't just drive through, worst is that I have to alternate (remove and disconnect everything ) between the backhoe and the hog to do similar jobs so the progress is slow.
Matias Matias I had a similar challenge. slow and steady, but it’s a great feeling once you take control of your woods, esp w your new RCR1248! This video was a big help to me before I bought my cutter too.
Brian, It all depends on what you need to cut. If your fields have brush up 2", then you can't run over that with the RCR12. This one is going to be fine for me as I was previously cutting these areas with my lawn mower. I am running it into a few areas that I did not previously go with brush up to 3/4" and it's fine. I think these cutters are probably more durable than I thought they would be. Thanks!
Yes I do. At least you can rotate the shaft easily enough, the tiller is even worse! You can mark where the splines are on the shaft and that makes it a bit easier.
Rather than trying to rotate the PTO shaft on the implement, with your tractor shut off of course, shift to the mid-PTO setting if you have a tractor with mid/rear PTO...then you can spin the PTO out put shaft on the tractor and easily line up the splines of the PTO shaft. I have to do this on my BX2680 to hookup my tiller, otherwise you ain't budging that shaft on the tiller LOL.
I like the way you went in reverse when the higher vegetation limited visibility. Job well done enjoy some time at your shooting range 👍

Just orders LP 1248 if understand you correctly this has a shear bolt if so what year is your LP1248. Thanks
Joe, I think that is correct and its a 2019. Thanks!
I have the LP finish mower but I think I could use the brush-hog type too. 🙄
Nice demonstration

Nice video. Do you ever think that you should’ve got the RCR15 now that you’ve had this for a while? Trying to decide between the two.

Do u have a hard time getting urs connected? Mine has the push pin and its a pain in the ass

Did PTO shaft need cutting for this setup?
James, I ordered it with the tractor and told them that I wanted it cut correctly and delivered ready to use. Thanks!
Don’t let the light duty scare you. I have the same one and it’s mean!!!!!
I'm easing into it. Thanks for the comment!
Looks a lot like Istachatta Florida
Pretty close, Gainesville FL.
@@HomesteadEngineering my winter place was in Lecanto. so kinda in between
I’d just invest in a goat.
Looks like it'll chop up snakes easily enough. How about alligators?
Well just have to wait and see...
nice
Don't assume that the slip clutch is adjusted properly.
John, I made a mistake in the video. This implement does not have a slip clutch. It only has the shear bolt.
