I'm wondering if the tech RUclipsrs have been paid for the recent reviews of the EF-12, they all seem glowingly positive, same with a bunch of Vine reviews on Amazon off the back off free products. So I bought this projector after watching all the reviews but I wasn't super impressed and shall be returning it - why? It's way overpriced. The image quality is okay, but not "wow" and the contrast is mediocre. Along with blown highlights, no shadow detail and poor brightness. The HDR is inconsequential. There's also noticeable lag when gaming. For the asking price this thing should of been brighter (even a few hundred lumens more), better conectivity such as usb 2.0, ethernet and perhaps even native 4K resolution. Even though I paid like 899.99 which was a "sale" price, this thing is still overpriced. They couldn't even get Netflix certified for it. I may pick it up again if the price drops to like 600, because I do like the build/look, laser tech and portability of it. But for now I'll give it a miss. Xiaomi have bought out a global version of their mi projector pro 2 - more lumens, better connectivity, dual 10 watt speaker AND Netflix certification, that can be had for around 650.
As disclosed at the start of the video it was sent in free. I agree, the omission of Netflix is not ideal, but I do feel that the brightness and detail was extremely good. I think everyone has different expectations of products. I always try to remain objective in my videos and do appreciate your thoughts on this. It’s great we have so much choice nowadays, so maybe the Xiaomi will be a good choice or as you say, the Epson may get a second chance when the price drops. Many thanks for watching.
@@geekanoids appreciate the honesty. If you get it for free there's always a chance of unconscious bias...maybe not you personally, but it makes me question their marketing motives and pricing strategies. Okay I'll leave it here. Thanks again 🙌🏼
Awesome Dave! I just bought the EF-11 model, it is the same minus the speakers and smart features as it is going to be used for gaming. Excellent review mate!
Well not quite the same. The EF-12 will accept an HDR signal, plus it has more lens adjustments, an additional HDMI in and of course the remote with Google TV OS. Too bad they didnt let the EF-11 have these features since it's more compact and sleek. Picture quality will be the same though.
@@droidzhunterz6861 Indeed! But since I have the machine just for gaming, all my gaming consoles + PC are on an HDMI switch, (3 in 1 out) and all sound is directed through a 5.1 YAMAHA receiver. As far as TV OS, I really do not use it at all. Reason for getting this projector is laser light source, I use it for more than 10 hours per day non stop. My older Benq was on the second lamp after 15 months of usage and I really wanted something smaller and more compact to last a long time! Never been happier with the little beast!
Hey there, great review. How does this compare to something like the Epson TW650 or TW750? I am wondering how do the colours, sharpness and brightness compare?

Thanks for sharing your feedback and opinion on this. No money was paid for this video.
@@geekanoids that's cool! But it was still sent over to you for free right? Were you able to keep it?

@@Kujokouklos Yeah it's a great piece of tech
Many thanks Kujo, it’s great having large screen entertainment 🤓👍🏻
WOW the video reproduction is fantastic, this projector is the best one you reviewed to date.
I totally agree. Very impressive.
Hey there, great review. How does this compare to something like the Epson TW650 or TW750? I am wondering how do the colours, sharpness and brightness compare?
Sorry I don’t have access to those models to compare, but was very impressed with this.
Awesome design and technical specifications. It reminds me of one of those stage amps from the front!
You are right. Very similar design.
Ef-12 vs XGIMI HORIZON? What do u think?
Not sure. I was very impressed with this.
Can you let me know if I buy it can I connect a power bank to make it fully portable ?
I think the power required is too much.
is it possible to simply project your pc screen via bluetooth?
I am not sure this is possible.
Can i use bluetooth speakers well
Sorry I no longer have this to check.
Does it produce enough sound to use it for an outside movie without supplemental speakers?
Sorry I no longer have this to check, but think it would just about.
You can if it’s sitting right beside you, otherwise it’s a bit unfulfilling. I use a sonos beam in my hdmi arc
Mine will be in tomorrow
Awesome. I hope you enjoy it.
Does it have digital Zoom to reduce picture size?
Sorry I no longer have this to check.
@@geekanoids thank anyway.
Nice review Dave!
Many thanks Dave 🤓👍🏻
£998 and no Netflix or Amazon prime. Come on are you seriously recommending this. If it was made by our friends in Cupertino then maybe.
The image is superb and lack of any services are easily accessible with a dongle.
