One really clear example of how good this video is : for wrestlers with right foot forward, it's very common for us to collar tie, club, shove or bump someone with the right (lead arm) which is the opposite of what we usually do with a kimono on like they demonstrated here. Little details but so important!! Thank you guys for sharing

Judo looks so damn interesting and useful, but I'm an uncoordinated klutz. However, these vids are making me think I might be able to do it since these explanations are so clear, even I can make sense of it.

Thank you for your videos, I watched some of your randori and noticed that you like to protect your right lapel with your left hand and then reach with your right hand to get a dominant lapel grip. Whereas in this video you are reaching with your left. What is the strategic difference or it just has to do with preference / intention and just situational positioning?

  • @paultaylor107

Hi sensi, thank you so much for this. I am really struggling at my club as I am probably the weakest in my club and really struggle with any form of randori. Just keep getting overpowered. Will try and drill these techniques and hopefully I can make some progress 🙏

Nice. The beauty of Judo is, you dont have to be right handed or left handed to fight righty or lefty. Unlike something like baseball.

He certainly makes some of us folks feel like underachievers. I'm 32, having started judo a little over 10 years ago and just now getting to sankyu (lowest brown belt rank) due to a layover for 3 or 4 years. Maybe I'll get into the dan ranks one of these centuries ;)
If I do, I think these videos will be at least partly to thank. Loving what you do, Sensei Higashi.
By the way, one of our newer coaches mentioned training with you from time to time when he's in New York. I'll try to coordinate the next time he is up there so I can join in and get some of the wisdom first-hand!
