    Around that big oak tree, more likely what occurs is birds drop the cedar berries when feeding and they will take root. It is cooler under the oak and the soil is better because of decaying leaves and so forth. It will hold moisture longer and cedars do grow very fast. It does not take long for the cedars to take over. This will end up being something that will have to be done regularly. I love what you're doing and that oak should grow several feet in the next year or so.

    • @tomgrey2137
      @tomgrey2137 Год назад

      @@jennifergudmundson2277 this particular tree is an invasive one that serves no benefit at all. It’s very harmful as it draws the water away from natural trees and stunts their ability to survive. Given a chance they decimate a field in a couple of years if not kept in check.

      @OpM1key Год назад

      @@jennifergudmundson2277I believe Daniel said in some past videos that they're invasive and non-native and compete with the natural forage and plant life, and soak all of the water out of the ground which slowly kills the native plants/trees around them. And they just completely take over.

    • @beckycarter2709
      @beckycarter2709 Год назад

      @@jennifergudmundson2277 cedars are invasive and take over the land. They are also very flammable and need cleared to help prevent Wildfires. Farmers planted Cedars years ago as windbreakers, but the Cedars were taking over pasture land.

Even at 70, if I win the lottery I know what the first thing is that I'll buy. That and a really cool stump grinder I saw someone use. It attached to a small machine he had. He could grind those big stumps down real fast. He'd cover the area with dirt and you never knew a tree was there. Isn't technology great! Thanks Daniel for taking us on this day's work.
