I know im a year late, but this maybe true. According to the lore, Novus is a fake warden due to their shrine (I do not know if the shrine from before recode and recode is the same, but im talking about the one before recode) being torn up. The Novus statue is broken, the pillars are broken, Novus statue is chained up, and the Tablet says False on the front and lie on the back. What if athulyth is actually the real warden? What if Novus tried replacing Athulyth, draining its powers away. Maye Novus was really powerful, hence why the other wardens cant demote Novus and bring back Athulyth.
Novus is actually a real warden we know this due to having control over rebirth and also having wardens rage. However novus was accused of being fake which thus made its shrine destoroyed
I feel like Auth was like a gaurd towards the wardens, like protection against threats and such (Ik in the lore they are all powerful but in the actual game each one has a weakness lol)
Athulyth can actually be a warden, and the bandom pillars in the legacy map could be the rest of what the athulyth statue was, and also athulyth have broken piellars all over its body, like they could be the pillars that stayed on its body after being removed

im pretty sure it isn't a warden, because it would have a wardens rage ability and warden in it's name, it wouldn't make any sense for a warden to not when all of the others do

In the legacy map there’s a secret vault that has all the masks of the wardens and the vault is underwater so in the water there’s a 7th pillar and the the masks are on pillars so maybe athulyth is the seventh warden And all the warden shrines have pillars and there’s a area that has pillars like all the warden shrines
I believe this is the correct explanation: How creatures form life is from a life seed ( a type of seed) it will stay a seed until a warden comes and helps it, then turns the seed into a creature, I believe while Athulyth was molting out of the seed a part of a wardens crest dropped on its head.
Just a theory, what if athulyth RESIGNED as a warden because it wanted freedom, therefore it created novus to replace its position as a warden and erased the memory of the wardens and normal creatures so that they can forget about athulyth being a warden but only the novus knows about the athulyth being a former warden because its the creator of them (ik this sounds stupid but like anyways)
What if this the creator of wardens and the right hand of the the creator of sonaria and the wardens did not like this creature and eliminated him because the game says this creature is not alive and what if its the soul of the creature but it lost its powers or maybe something took it's body because it's actively falling apart wearing down

( in the novus statue is seems resting, and possibly damaged? ) In athus description it’s dead, and notice how when you use its calls in game its mouth doesn’t open. It’s just a remnant from long ago.

canonically, the wardens on sonaria are just cameras for the real wardens, and are at basically a fraction of the real warden's power
