+Brett Murphy Interestingly enough, it's not an original song. It was a choir song that he simply made more popular. And much darker with his instrumental arrangement. It was originally a much more upbeat tune played at churches. Now it sounds more at home in a funeral parlor, or zombie film. And you know what? I'm ok with that. This song has a solemn air to it. I'm an Atheist and I love it. Though I view the lyrics as mere fantastic poetry... Still, insofar one take the lyrics seriously, it is a great illustration of religious wishful thinking. Perhaps Freud was right to note that the future of religious superstitions is ineradicable at least for as long as we fear death.
MrSidney9 I think Religion is more rooted in how developed human empathy and imagination is, we apply humanity to everything, even nothing. Just look at how we value our pets and fight for the rights of things that don't even feel.
Nathan C. We come from a line of pattern-seeking animals who tended to make Type I error( false-positive), attributing an agency where there's none: a hominid who tends to think that the rustle in the grass is caused by a lion ( a cause with intentions), whether he is wrong or not, tends to survive and reproduce more than the hominid who assumes that the rustle in the grass is due to the wind. So when the crop fails or an epidemics kills half of the people in the village, our ancestors assume it's the work of an agent. Being agents ourselves we naturally assume that those other invisible "agencies" operate in ways similar to ours, thereby anthropomorphizing them: they love, hate, get upset, can be appeased (through rituals); they even eat (sacrificial blood or praises and prayers). like you said, still now ,we tend to anthropomorphize anything, now, however, many of us do it knowing well that this is what we're doing, so we're less likely to deify a horse, a cow, but there are people who feel more connection to say a dog, than a fellow human. And... the abrahamic god is just an invisible superhuman who happens to be timeless and spaceless(whatever the helk that means)
MrSidney9 We're also great at filling in the blanks. Since we don't process external info fast enough our brain makes leaps based on past experience and understanding. Problem is, what we can naturally experience is limited.
MrSidney9 What some people don't understand is that even if we move away from organized religion as a culture in the west there will always be cults and personal superstition that crop up. It's part of the human condition.
@@mr.kingofphenomenal4629 it's spirits that make you feel that. It's an extremely powerful song That makes you realize we're all going to be dead someday. This whole album is like that. Somber tone notes along with lyrics that hit home makes for a sad yet very....inspiring I guess could be just one of the many thoughts that speed through our brains (mine anyways). I don't know...i guess it just kinda lights a fire under your ass to try to at least enjoy your days while you have them. You can hear it in Johnnys voice and music that this was his way of saying I accept everything in my life good or bad that's happened to me and it's ok

Writing this in response to a reply to someone else's comment I read a little bit ago. It's not "cool" to like Johnny Cash. Johnny Cash was and will always be, cool. To all of us who love him. To the haters of the world who say, I liked so & so before it was "cool"..... you are scorning the future followers the great ones who wrote for everyone to hear. Why do that? Simply because you don't like how they like him and you think they don't appreciate him like yourself. You didn't write Johnny's music, or anyone else's, nor do you get the nod from him, to critique his past, present, or future fan base. His music speaks to many, in many different ways. That is what Johnny Cash, I feel, speaks so loudly through his message in song. That nobody should cast stones, place judgement, or hold down the body of any man or woman. Period. Much respect to you Mr Cash....RIP
If anyone notices Johnny Cash INCLUDED everyone in his songs! He wore Native American jewelry and was instrumental in expressing human rights I think! He sung to the people in power who made changes!I I think he is overlooked as a great American who helped pave the way for equal rights!

Nathan C. Indeed.
MrSidney9 What some people don't understand is that even if we move away from organized religion as a culture in the west there will always be cults and personal superstition that crop up. It's part of the human condition.
There's something about the lyrics 'meet me jesus meet me, meet me in the middle of the air' that gives me the chills
rm3tank Same with me this song made me emotional for some reason I just don't know what it is. But its a great song from a legend.
Agreed 113%..this whole song (and album) does it for me.
@@mr.kingofphenomenal4629 it's spirits that make you feel that. It's an extremely powerful song
That makes you realize we're all going to be dead someday.
@@jasonangel4221 Dude I haven't listened to this song for a long time. When I first heard song as little kid I fell in love with this song. It got stuck in my head for a few months as little kid always had chills up my spine. A few years later I'm older but 8 months later hearing this song makes me cry in seconds. Even when I pause the song the song continues to play in my head and tears start falling down. I love this song but I can't listen to it so much because it makes me cry.
@@jasonangel4221 But I know someday I will die but I do believe in afterlife. I'm not afraid dying but what makes me scared is falling short making it to Heaven. Now that scared me a lot.
Johnny cash rest in peace he will come back and prove exactly what you saying
UNDERTAKER 🔥🔥🔥
forever in memory the man in black
Westworld 2016 ? anyone?
He's there in the grave resting and waiting for that trumpet sound and he will rise from the grave and meet Jesus in the air.
There ain't no grave
Can hold my body down
There ain't no grave
Can hold my body down
When I hear that trumpet sound
I'm gonna rise right out of the ground
Ain't no grave
Can hold my body down
Well, look way down the river
And what do you think I see
I see a band of angels
And they're coming after me
Ain't no grave
Can hold my body down
There ain't no grave
Can hold my body down
Well, look down yonder, Gabriel
Put your feet on the land and sea
But Gabriel, don't you blow your trumpet
Until you hear from me
There ain't no grave
Can hold my body down
Ain't no grave
Can hold my body down
Well meet me, Jesus, meet me
Meet me in the middle of the air
And if these wings don't fail me,
I will meet you anywhere
Ain't no grave
Can hold my body down
There ain't no grave
Can hold my body down
Well meet me, Mother and Father,
Meet me down the river road
And Mama, you know that I'll be there
When I check in my load
Ain't no grave
Can hold my body down
There ain't no grave
Can hold my body down
There ain't no grave
Can hold my body down

What a awesome songs by Johnny cash...its true the ain't. No grave that can hold my body down....listen. N feels it
Writing this in response to a reply to someone else's comment I read a little bit ago.
Johnny Cash... the man who immortalized the outlaw.

Yes, the old ways are still best at Los Pollos Hermanos. But don't take my word for it. One taste, and you'll know.

God bless Jonnny Cash.
If anyone notices Johnny Cash INCLUDED everyone in his songs! He wore Native American jewelry and was instrumental in expressing human rights I think! He sung to the people in power who made changes!I I think he is overlooked as a great American who helped pave the way for equal rights!
