I've got the LS6-ARE... Worth every dime. I don't think the extra money for the LS16+ are worth it. The LS6-RE is Identical except for the Lam Rosewood B/S not Solid. Have no issues with the tuners... it stays tuned for a long time. I use D'Addario 80/20 Bronze Custom Lights.
+Gorilla Man Sounds nice. I am thinking the solid rosewood everything would be sweet... for the extra money, if you record, it is totally worth it. There is a tremendous difference on the mic between laminate guitars and solid wood guitars. Have you ever used Elixir Nanoweb strings on it?
+socialdef3 I have Nano's on now... custom light... they are great... I want to try D'Addario EXP. The Nano might be a tad to slippery. About the solid vs lam... yes the resonance might be a little better on the solids but the Lams that Yamaha use are really good and I just could not justify the extra $$ for solid.
I’ve been playing a 3/4 but am longing for something bigger with more depth as stain. Do you think I would regret choosing an LS16 over a full size dreadnought?
The LL16 is a modified dreadnought and i think it looks better than the traditional dreadnought, consider the sound characteristics you'll need by the size of your guitar, dreadnought is the best for strumming because of the power, concert size is the best for fingerstyle and melody because of the tone balance and accuracy. You'll have to choose this yourself, can't really ask other people.
I am shopping on behalf of a pal. My wife is an international Bluegrass star. We have bunches of Gallaghers, Martins, Taylors, Eastmans and myriad other acoustic guitars in the house. My pal's family approached me 4 years ago, hoping I could guide them to the perfect small body guitar for my pal George. Now this is a man who is no mean picker. He is a serious musician who sia adept on fiddle, mando, banjo and guitar.Any style. A pal of the late Pete Seeger. So is this Yamaha LS16 ARE the tool for George, who has been playing a stunned model 1970's Taiwanese Yamaha since he gave away his pre-war Martin D-18 ? I don't know. But I did send him this link. Now if only we could find one to pick in Toronto sometime soon....
Completely unrelated, but I feel the need to point out that you are one of the only people I have come across who uses "myriad" correctly and that made my day lol
This is a great guitar... I recently purchased one and had it setup exactly how I like it. I mostly finger pick and it's perfect. My only issue is with the tuners. My gawd, they are absolutely awful. I understand about being cost effect for both the player an manufacturer... it's a great price for quality and product you are getting, but Yamaha could do better with the tuners.
I wondered the question of body type. Is it smaller than an OM? It seems the same. Does this guitar is also good for strumming. It seems a a dream for picking. But I do strumm too
Daisy Alvarez Basically the 16 has all solid wood back and sides, the 6 is laminated. The 16 has ebony fretboard and bridge, the 6 has rosewood fretboard and bridge. The 16 will cost more too.
is it my idea or this guitar is smaller than a standard dreadnought acoustic electric guitar? also, i heard many reviews on YT, and i think that the pickup of this guitar is very hot, you can hear it grumpy like having a gain effect and it doesnt sound clean...why is this happening?
The pick up is not hot as there is no battery pre amp etc. Just simple under saddle piezo. I am surprised how good it sounds plugged in. I use one live. Check out my youtube vids of acoustic tunes on it unplugged
I wish I could find more videos with the LS/LL 26-36 line! Jarvis has a few but I haven’t seen anymore in quite some time. Any thoughts?
Excellent Review Very cool Yamaha Guitar . ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

Great bluesy sound

how are you mic'ing this? There's no mic visible. Are you going through the pickup? It sounds a bit boxy.
sounds awesome!
+Armando Vega If you want to hear a Takamine like this, you will be spending over a $1000 easily....
Yup... exactly!

Thanks for that info....I was gonna buy this guitar, very soon, but I'm not fucking with any more shitty tuners.
Lowell Zapata Tuners is pretty good on my LS16. I always change my tuning, DADGBE, DGDGBD, EADGBD, DGCFAD, and it's stable.
Thanks, maybe he got a bad set. I love the looks of that guitar, especially the burst version.
Lowell Zapata My tuners are good too... Best guitar I've ever heard, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Julia Hypnohealer Thank you.
Love the guitar, but hate gold hardware
What are the string action measurements, out of the box? Both E strings, first, fifth and twelfth frets. I love the sound.
11
00 Size?
12Radius More of a 000, but with an OM scale length.

This or the ll16?
Does this guitar have a rosewood or mahogany back? I want one of these but have yet to see a mahogany backed one.
Both
The LS16R is the Rosewood and the LS16M is the Mahogany.
Joseph Liptak what's the difference between the ls16 and the ls6?

Joseph Liptak so does that make the 16 better?

This is not loading, WTF?
takamine?
Yamaha
Chitarra bella quanto si vuole ma... e' anonima nella timbrica. Non trasmette affatto le emozioni delle chitarre made in USA .
Rather small.
why don't you ask real guitarist for reviewing ? this guitar should sound good ...
