About this Project:
Bordertown is a series set on the American and Mexican border. Though I pull lots of inspiration from El Paso and Juarez, this series is based on my own inspiration and aims to encompass every thing that fascinates me about this area.

Open street map labels that one lane that loops under the bridge as “Express Lane”. It is a separate one way into the US. And bridge is called good neighbor bridge.

There is a Wikipedia article about that lane going in the opposite direction. If you want to read it the article is called “El Paso Stanton street port of entry” The lane can only be used by cars that are in the SENTRI program (The Mexican Border equivalent to NEXUS) Originally, the Good neighbor international bridge was for southbound traffic only, but in 1999 the counterflow lane was opened for commuters to relieve congestion.

Really dumb idea, and it may be off the table due to your no politics rule for the series (even though it's a parody of a meme), but I thought it may be funny if you made an open lot with some light construction started on it and have billboards for it advertising that a mall is being built. The catchphrase to advertise the mall's construction would/could be "We're gonna build a mall!"

El Paso, Juarez is a high crime area. If you don't lock it down, it's gone. There are fences every where, lots topped with barbed wire. Most homes are walled in, and the walls have bars on top or broken glass cemented in. All homes have bars on the windows. It's pretty much like this with in a 15 mi area from the border.
There is this book I read called Saint Death which is based in Anapra, a small suburb of Juarez just about 5 miles to the east. It describes the mexican side as run down and dangerous, and the american side as spacious, a big theme park and a humongous flag looming over the wall

Most of the area next to the border in El Paso is not too run down seeing as the center is only 1,5 miles away from the border. I suggest that you make the run down areas in Ciudad Juarez, especially next to the border and east of the city where drug trade was a big problem. Looking down from the Wells Fargo Plaza was like seeing 2 different worlds. 1 with skyscrapers and another with run down shacks and huts
Coming along nicely...I think you've done a great job with those border crossings using what limited assets you have. One day I will attempt to follow in your footsteps and build a realistic city. Love your work.

I’ve never actually been to the border or Mexico, but I’ve been to Texas, and I must say, you captured the dry Texas feeling really well! And the design and everything seems to be perfect. Fantastic job, definitely my current favorite series!
That bridge you are copying has two way traffic. That road is for inbound customs check. You could keep it as a duty-free shop or a fast pass lane.

seeing you recreate silvas and el segundo!? so surreal!!!! also, i noticed in one of your videos.. you placed a few saguaro cacti. just a note, those don't really grow here in el paso (or west texas and southern new mexico). those are more westward in arizona and california. however, the OTHER cactus you're routinely placing are spot on. love your videos, man!!!!

as a general 'i'm an american, i see this everyday' if you have the assets available, our auto stores usually all cluster together, most of the time next to each other.
Liking this series only once I drove through El Paso on way to Arizona from Dallas, but cool someone to do this.

One of my favorite things to see is when someone creates a crappier neighborhood in their cities I think it makes it much more realistic

If you have never done anything 3d, the pipeline you have in the city translates perfectly to a triple a pipeline its ridiculous, your constantly looking at ref, your blocking the city out first etc, its super well organised and put together, its crazy haha

I guess that tiny road at the Toll Booth is for leaving the border without passing it. I think its like there gonna drive cars that werent allowed to drive over the bridge. Thats just my idea. I dont know if I am right.

You should put your edited assets on the workshop. All the homes with the fences and props, etc. I know some belong to item creators but they'd probably be fine with it if they are mentioned. Leno seems like a great guy.

Is the fast line you have to pay extra and have an special visa type and you use one like from the bridge to enter the USA without the traffic of the original bridge

For the crossing into the US, you need the “Welcome to Texas” sign.
I wanna get into Cities Skylines as well but I gotta ask you first. To have this many props and objects like you do, did you have to spend a lot on it or are they mostly like Workshop stuff. I see you have a huge list with most of the props but do I require any paid dlc to be able to build a scale airport or something
There are only a handful of assets that are paid and odds are almost certain he's using none here. All workshop assets are forced to be no charge. So you just need to consider only game and DLC and computer cost.

Why do you set the houses individually instead of just zoning it as residential and let the simulation do it?
What's that traffic mod, where you can assign each lane with the colored lines? I've seen it around and need it in my life, but can't seem to track it down on the workshop.
