Re: the Jags new stadium, I saw Orlando and Orange County get absolutely worked by the Magic organization for the construction of the new arena. I learned then to never underestimate the willingness (desperation?) of one-horse sports towns to keep hold of their single franchise at great cost to the public.
This would've been felt even more keenly in a place like Jacksonville, where its one team has been seen as relocation fodder for the majority of its existence, and where the city itself isn't even *viewed* as a real American metropolis by most Americans, let alone respected as one.
