@@romansenger2322 yeah that would say a non car guy. For a car guy sound and noise is the most important thing, an EV just doesn't feel right. I personally still can't get into a car that has no "soul", no sound and feel some kind of joy or anything. Many won't understand this, but for me a car is much more than a vehicle that just brings you from one place to another!

I’d love to get rid of my 420d for an ev. But oh my how on earth will I ever afford one I don’t know. What will a used id4 be like after 5 years and cost.
Should be quite affordable. The used market is where it's at for affordable EV's. I think the first step for many families (like mine) is to get a cheaper EV with shorter range as a second car in a two car household. Then eventually just save up for a longer range one while saving money on fuel in the meantime by doing 60% of driving on electricity.

I sure do hope this feels night and day better than the regular ID.4. I drove one a few weeks ago and it felt so pitifully underpowered it was unbelievable.
I don’t think this version is way better. I get it, electric cars may be the future but why are the most of the cars so damn heavy?? I mean the ID4 should be where? In the same class as a Golf? And 2400kilos? That’s just crazy! My X5 is three times bigger and wider, is in a much much bigger class and weighs 300-400kilos less! Why can’t the manufacturers build an electric hot hatch for example, that is not too big, not too heavy, fun to drive (not just in acceleration and straight line) and kinda affordable?
I mean 50k are still affordable, but never ever paying it for this car!

@@Anon-ymous888 the Model 3 doesn’t way really any more than an all-aluminum Jaguar XE or BMW M340i. BMWs continue to get heavier and heavier, less engaging to drive and uglier. What X5 weighs 400kg less? A 2021 X5 weighs between 4828lbs-5260lbs (2189-2385kg). The ID.4 GTX weighs 2149kg. So it’s actually lighter than the lightest X5. You said the X5 is “three times larger”… it’s like 12” (30cm) longer, 3” wider (7cm wider) and about 4.5” (11cm) taller. It’s not like you’re comparing an X1 vs. an X7. The ID.4 has about as much space inside as an X3. The X3 M40i weighs only a few hundred lbs (100kg) less than the ID.4… so it’s not really all that much of a difference.
@@CFG39 The ID4 should be in the golf class (well because its an SUV lets say its a T-Roc). And now think about the T-Roc weighs 2220kg. 2220 fkin kg for a T-Roc? So you're technically comparing a X1 with a X5! And my X5 is from 2015 and hasn't a V8, which means it weighs exactly 2070kg. The X5 is two classes above, and now you wan't to tell me it's normal that a "Golf SUV" weighs 2200kg? I drove a VW once (when the brand was a good one), since then I don't even want to sit in one! And what you like is your personal opinion, imo BMWs aren't ugly. Btw "three times bigger" was kind of a joke, because its ridiculous how much the ID4 weighs and its much more ridiculous when you say "it's actually lighter than the lightest X5, or the X3 M40i weighs 100kg less than the ID4"! Tf, the ID4 should be 500kg less than an X5!! I don't need the exact numbers copied from wikipedia!

I don't really understand the logic behind the ID.4 GTX... if I want a sporty car, I'm not really going with an ID.4 anyway... It's a pretty huge family car and even with the GTX I don't think it has a really sporty look, even though I like the look. If you want dynamic driving and a sporty car the ID.3 would be much better choice..
Because it's an introduction for performance spec which of course also soon becomes ID.3 GTX - but delaying cannibalisation of Golf GTI (=milking the cow as long as possible)
Because these days some people (with money) would buy anything with GT or SPORT or PRO or PERFORMANCE or any combination of these.
So, even if it doesn't make any sense, marketing still has the last word.

my 120hp 2012 honda city(sold only in asia) does 192km/h, yes it takes 20+ seconds to 190 but cmon 300hp EV does have a very low top speed.
Electric cars doesn't have gears. So the motors will have to go up to about 15000RPM. If it spins higher, the battery would probably drained in a short time. So it's best to just limit the top speed
Or do what they did in the taycan and fit a 2 speed gearbox
I think this car could be faster if they remap the initial power being delivered from zero to 30kph.

I got a funny story about this car, i don't own one but i did race one with my BMW 318d stage 1 diesel 2.0 liter. All that horspower and such a sloppy perfomance, he crawled away from me very slowly up til 180km/h and i blew right past him, pretty shitty perfomance for 300hp.
An old man´s sportscar. So I will buy it next week.

Elektro ist eine übergangsstrategie, langfristig gesehen aber ned umweltfreundlich da Ressourcen der Erde für den Bau von Batterien benötigt wird. Synthetische Kraftstoffe beruhen hingegen auf unendlichem aka Luft, da hier C02 genommen wird und mit Wasserstoff vermischt wird. Es ist zwar 4 mal so stromintensiv und daher jetzt nicht die richtige Lösung. Wenn man aber überflüssigen Strom zum Herstellen benutzt ist dies weitaus nachhaltiger als Elektromobilität...
Slow for 299bhp, runs out of steam to early as well. Feel like Ev need around 400-500bhp to even compete against a Golf R.

@@antonthompson7838 it runs out of puff, its not just a case of electronic limiter, EV need huge power to push past 120mph, look at Tesla accelerations.
Only one gear for simplicity, motor maxes out at about 16000 rpm.

The only difference is that polution is only calculated once the car is moving. Not what it takes to make the car, let alone all the materials. CO2 neutral production is a hoax.
3 reasons not to buy an electric car.
1. car does not give emotions.
2. the performance of the car decreases when the battery capacity drops.
3. long charging times
Limiting your 300hp sport version which is supposed to be the electric "GTI" to a topspeed of 180 km/h is just stupid. Yes the battery will deplete faster at higher speeds, but every owner should know that anyway. Please stop restricting the freedom of choice and possibility.

vw fitted all of their new ev with the same cheap plastic, I understand that their profit margin isn't that big on these cars but still it's hard to digest when the car is priced over 50k .. even cupra's and skoda's EVs interior quality is substantiallly better

It’s not just their EVs. Test drove an Atlas and the interior quality with the amount of plastic was such a let down. This is coming from a Golf R owner btw. I couldn’t believe that these 2 car were made by the same company.

@@jpkremer971 äh, natürlich. An den BEVs wird weniger verdient, sowohl beim Verkauf als auch beim Service. Weisst du eigentlich, wieviel es VW spart wenn sie mur eine kleine Schraube am Unterboden wegrationalisieren können? Schau dir mal Videos von Sandy DeMunro an. Die Margen in der Automobilindustrie sind sehr klein, da läuft vieles nur über Ausstattung und Service.
Und bei der ID Familie ist das Interior noch nicht mal das Hauptproblem, ausnahmslos jeder Besitzer klagt über die Software.

I suspect the ID4 AWD will be my next car. The exact GTX version isn't coming to Canada. I'm wondering if charging speed and acceleration or a launch mode will be adjusted in the future by software updates. What do you think?

@@GM-qh2ki I drove a Model 3. It was Built like a LADA. For you kids, that's not a compliment. The brake felt like stepping on a tree stump and the 1 screen interface is a joke. I suppose non car enthusiasts marvel at the tech but I'm interested in driving not flipping through pages on a screen to change basic functions while I drive.

@@GM-qh2ki Tesla makes very well-designed cars, but the ID4 has beat out the Tesla Model Y by a longshot in terms of price. In cases where the price difference is only a few thousand dollars, I'd say that people should just buy a Tesla instead. As it is with the ID4, VW has massively undercut Tesla on price here - in Canada, the price difference between dual motor ID4 and dual motor Model Y is to the tune of $20,000! The value proposition on the ID4 is excellent, probably the best of any EV right now.

want to know fun fact that vw wont tell you? you can use 299hp only when battery level is 100%-88%of battery charge, when it drops to 87%/bellow it goes to around 245hp
VW won’t tell you about? That’s literally on the product page of the ID4, in the manual and even on the second page of the leasing contract.
This is normal behavior you cannot avoid, you can find in other cars like Teslas... or better you can avoid if you down spec and limit the performance to a lower SOC (i.e. DC bus voltage).

The AWD for North America just was revealed and reviewed. It's got a little more ground clearance and it seems a little firmer with it's ride. VW is claiming 5.4 sec to 60mph. So 6.2 to 100kph seems reasonable. I think VW should bring a sport plus mode for their software because all of the reviewers say the same thing that the car isn't really fast from zero, then the accerlation ramps up.
VW never had, never wanted to have the fastest cars. But it always offers the best compromise between quality, technical solutions and price. That is the brand identity within the Volkswagen brands collection and wont change with EV. Dont understand why anyboday requests that car to be more sporty than it is. Dont you understand the brand VW?

I dont get it. Where's the fun in putting a pedal down and just waiting for the car to reach top speed? It might be fast, but to me there's no fun in it at all, just like in automatic cars.
