Bas used to run with the Kray Twins crew when he was young. If you dont know the krays, they were essentially Londons version of Al Capone if Al had a brother who was even more manic than he was. Pete (short one) was the first to start rapping after his grandkids played it on the car radio. He and Bas were mates and since bas has been a musician and music teacher for 40 years, Pete introduced him to rapping. Bas is also a certified lawyer these days, has a legal practice and everything, the man knows every nook and cranny of the law ( guess why) They write their own shit, and their grandkids help them with slang translations, although they are starting to get a better grasp of modern slang themselves, so I dont know how involved their grandkids are these days

Yeah Pete and Bas are for real, they were never a gimmick. I highly recommend a few tracks you should check out. "Sindhu Sesh" might be their most bar heavy song. Every line is amazing. "Browns" has a killer beat and also has great bars. It's hard to find because the music video was filmed in a stripclub the song is named after. "Golf" is great and gives you a rundown on Petes criminal history and introduces you to Norman Pain who is another older rapper. "Freestyle with Fumes" is probably the song that got them famous. Amazing beat, great bars, amazing back and forth in the last verse. Its just a great showcase for them really. They also send shots to half the UK drill scene near the end.

Pete got into Drill by listening to it on the car radio when his grandkids turned the channel over. He hated it at first but it grew on him. Bas was a friend of his who was a music teacher so he understood music. They released a few track you can still find on youtube and they just blew up from there. They have a Mixtape and I think they are coming out with a new album soon.

Phantom of the opera is played in amphitheaters and when the Phantom performs he can look up and in the bannisters up above are royalty and celebrities. Therefor he’s star gazing…at celebrities as a musical artist.
That is hands down the coldest line I’ve ever heard. People miss it because most people don’t know about phantom of the opera.

research department: Pete is the shorter one with the raspy voice (whos actually currently battling skin cancer) and Bas (pronounced like Baz) is the taller one with the smoother style... both these boys are for real, UK guys that used to run with some of the organized crime families in Britain back in the day... they write all of their own shit, sometimes asking their kids/grandkids for newer slang words but thats basically it.. they also have gotten some of the old guys they hangout with to start rapping too, and some of them arent too bad either which is super fuckin hilarious! in all seriousness, this is one rabbit hole you do need to go down because its one that will have you bumping them in your free time and adding them to the bangers playlist most of the time.

Pete (Short one) got into drill from taking his grandaughter to school and she would repeatedly play drill. He grew to enjoy it over time and introduced Bas (tall one) to it later. Bas is also musically trained to some degree.
Both have done serious time for drug and violence related offences, so they know what they're talking about. Might have missed some details so feel free to add / correct!
