    I will never forget being about 5 years old watching the old WCCW and my mom saying..
    "Ooh I would let Kerry Von Erich body slam me any day."
    To which I responded,
    "Not me, that would hurt."
    I don't remember what triggered the memory or sudden realization, but sitting in history class in 9th grade I randomly recalled that and was severely grossed out.

    Kerry Von Erich was the man. He had a decent run in W.W.E. but had the talent to be HW champ. But, he was there when Hulkamania was huge, the Warrior, Savage and they all cut promos that were off the charts and KVE was soft spoken. The best survivor series team EVER was Ultimate Warrior, Legion of Doom (Road Warriors) and Kerry Von Erich. Four dudes who we're probably the biggest (muscle wise) than anyone else. They were in tip top shape and all 4 of them could have entered body building contests. R.I.P to the Von Erich's. They were supposedly cursed or something. I don't believe in coincidence, so something was up with that curse theory.

      You’re right he had the talent and he had to look for sure. You don’t really have to have much talent to be a champ, but you do have to have a cosmetically pleasing look and very well-versed on the microphone. Kerry just didn’t have any charisma or promo ability to get over outside of that little bubble in Texas

    It still saddens me that 3 of the Von Erichs chose to take their own lives,with so much to live for. No reason to fall on a tragically permanent solution to a temporary problem.

    • @synthonaplinth5980
      @synthonaplinth5980 5 лет назад +17

      Reason doesn't work when you are depressed. It works less when you lose a relative. Their dad was also abusive and pushed them way to hard, those scars don't heal for years, if ever.

    • @EdsterIII
      @EdsterIII 4 года назад +8

      @@synthonaplinth5980 Sadly both of you are right. By that I mean once all of this started, it was just a waste. 3 young men in the prime of their lives. Doing what everyone thought they loved. I did learn this. Depression and suicide if a person wants to go. They WILL succeed. That's what is so scary and devastating. There isn't the "I'm going to do it" call. One day they are gone. No phone call, nothing. Once someone truly believes they have nothing left. Nothing will stop them unless you happen to catch them just before the act. One disagreement though, the problems they have to them are NOT temporary, they are extremely painful memories that have teared them apart.

      @@EdsterIII sometimes that is true, sometimes not. My dad took his own life, and there were signs as to his future plans. Kerry Von Erich started telling family and some friends a full year ahead that he was going to kill himself. He said "my brothers are calling me," and also straight up said he didn't want to live, stating he had brought shame to his family and didn't want to embarrass them any further. My friend's 18 year old son committed suicide, he had talked about it since age four!

I developed my own ranking system, a 10 point scale of 10 categories (I can't remember all of them) but it's mostly obvious stuff like mic work, look, connection to the fans, ability to convincingly play the part. If a guy's supposed to be a monster type (sorely missing now) then he should scare the fans, not get laughed at. Applying these numbers as objectively as possible I was a bit surprised at who ranked high and who didn't. It's probably just a silly pass time but I enjoy it.
