    I believe that his piano playing as well as his voice was in its absolute prime in 1979. There's so much emotion in it.

      Agree about his voice! This tour consistently has top notch singing. Although I would say his piano playing was a bit more creative in the 90s.

    I saw Elton John and Ray Cooper live on stage at the Gaumont (now Mayflower) in Southampton on this same tour. The absolute best and most memorable gig that I have ever attended.

    Have seen bits & pieces of this concert, hearing a lot more. Elton’s voice is great, as a pianist the best. He puts so emotion into every song he sings. Of courts his interactions with the audience is marvelous & endearing. Of course Bernie’s lyrics, Also he looks so handsome.❤❤❤

    He definitely played as good as he could play you can tell the way he’s singing he’s nervous to not mess up a single noteThe ruskies got a real treat with this no doubt.

    There's some really good piano dynamics in this show. EJ manages to capture the 'belly' of the recorded versions just with his piano, the prime example being 'Daniel'. Very impressive.

    Звук из зала наложен,- в Советском Союзе не свистели и не аплодировали после начала песни. Была полная тишина до ее окончания, уважение к труду артиста!😁

      Нифига,я там был,первое отделение ,лирика, Элтон за фоно действительно классический приём ,Рэй всех поднял,в конце зрителям первых рядов партера пришлось встать,так народ повалил к сцене.

    look and sounds great, but I wish they would've speed corrected this footage since it's playing a bit fast. I wonder if it was shot at 24fps but played back at 25fps.

    • @thomasglass7223
      @thomasglass7223  2 года назад +2

      the source for this one is a little bit strange. the common old youtube uploads run fast, but for some reason on this specific dvd copy, the SPEED has been corrected but the pitch hasnt. almost like its been “tempo corrected”. i tried to fix the pitch myself but it ended up sounding robotic and less pleasant

      @charlesc920 2 года назад +1

      i think i have the same "official" dvd release from shout factory and a cbs/fox vhs copy, both seem to come from the same master playing in the same pitch higher. probably when they transferred it originally from film to video, they just never fixed it.

      Probably vodka, he was known to have a drink or two at some 1979 shows
