Mid 80’s, sidewalk outside Jimmy’s Live Music Club, New Orleans, I would chat with Ellen. She was doing stand up between sets of her brother’s band, The Cold. I was working the door and sleeping on a plywood shelf in the storage room thanks to the kindness of Jimmy Anselmo. The Ellen I have seen in the media over all these years comes across to me as the same person I knew. Kind and smart and caring. She has done well and I wish her well.
