That’s nice of you Andy. Not going to lie, I thought we would do you over on Saturday but you totally outplayed us, Oxford were tactically first class, we didn’t even have a shot on goal which says it all. We are gutted but I think we all wish Oxford good luck for next season.
Indeed i see that. They were very complimentary to us Barnsley after their semi final win over us too. Bolton fans have shown alot of class during these play offs regardless of results. 👏

There was no management..like there hasn’t been all season. IE out now enough is enough he’s had time and proved he hasn’t any sort of plan B.
Bolton came to collect a trophy, and they looked genuinely surprised when we started playing football against them. Complacency caught up with them and the better team won. Good luck next season BWFC, and congrats to Des, the players, and everyone at OUFC for an incredible end to an incredible campaign!
You didn't play football against us. You were handed the game as our manager hasn't a clue how to change it against a team who puts 10 behind the ball. Congratulations on the promotion though 👍🏻
@@NC2871926 Er, I hate to break it to you, but Bolton didn't have a single shot on target all match. Oxford, on the other hand, could easily have scored four or five. Ten behind the ball my arse. Good luck getting out of League One next season; with Birmingham and Huddersfield coming down, and with Wrexham coming up, you're going to need it.

@@whitenoise7455 because Bolton did nothing to threaten a team who just had 10 behind the ball and looked for counter attacks. That's on Ian Evatt and his complete lack of tactical awareness and in game management. Oxford weren't anything special, don't kid yourself, they just did a job on an extremely poor performance from Bolton.

That first half was the worst I’ve ever seen Bolton play. Oxford were the better team and good luck to them in the championship.

Evatt came up short in such a big game. He can blame his players all he wants, but he bought these players, he made the system. And we have one of the most expensive squads in the division. So no excuses.

Oxfords deserves promotion. Bolton's attitude and morale was no difference as bad as Strewsbury 2-2 draw. They defeated strong teams but lost points from weak teams. Non-sense.

As a Bolton fan I'm delighted Oxford went up, we were terrible and we'd be straight back down next year.... Could see it vs Barnsley, we were lucky to scrape by them

very disappointing end to a good season. well played oxford and good luck next season. As for Bolton, we have finished 7th 5th and 3rd the last 3 seasons. what number follows in the sequence? Yes 1. We must push hard for promotion again next season. It will be tougher than this seadon with birmingham huddersfield wrexham and teams like blackpool wigan reading leyton orient and lincoln all looking to finish higher than last season.
I'm staggered that his response to our system being nullified was to stick with it for the entire game and change the front two. That's an incredibly poor tactical showing. Oxford barely got out of second gear.

How is everyone feeling? That was a tough one on Saturday wasn’t it? I felt so confident going into the match but after about 10 mins I was saying I don’t like the look of this. We were playing so slow and passing it around the defence unable to find a pass forward. Oxford were really good tactically pressing high, man marking our midfielders and trying to tackle and dispossess us right away. We couldn’t cope. I thought Evatt needed to tell the defenders to hit it long and bypass the midfield but it was just repeatedly passing it at the back.
Oxford deserve a lot of credit for their tactics on Saturday. I think it maybe a blessing in disguise for us. We are too soft and lightweight, we need to get stronger midfielders in, we need to have a plan B. We are still moving in the right direction, hopefully we will learn from this, we need to.
Fair play to Oxford. As for us, next season should be Evatt's last season. Next season is gonna be a tough season with half if not most of the teams being dangerous (wigan, lincoln, reading, blackpool, wrexham as examples). I see us finishing 12th next season. As for FA Cup, we will get knocked out third round very likely by some Prem club. EFL Cup wise, we'll get knocked out second round. EFL Trophy we will get knocked out of the round of 32. Most of the players should go (Santos, Jones, Iredale, JDC, Sheehan as examples). All our loanees will go and the only contracts we are renewing are Jerome and JDB.
Thats what you call a thrown match....Thats what happens when the opposition manager gets his tactics spot on, what do we do? Play the same crap.

Add that to our chair midweek at the fa meeting basically saying promotion was gonna cost them 20 million, and she didnt look exited, im calling fowl on it all.

Fair play to Oxford and their manager. Did a Job on Evatt and his total lack of experience and inability to read how a game is going and make the necessary tactical changes. Taking off Charles for Adeboyejo and Jerome - haha. Amazing. A Truly awful performance from the manager and our so called big players. I.e Josh Sheehan - what a fraud he has been in every big game this season.

I am so disappointed right now, but I know a bad game was coming based on our last match. We barely hung on for that victory.
I spare a thought for Bolton, almost chased Derby for the automatic spot only to lose all in the end. Great fight...give it a go again next season! Success comes after each failure, lads.
Second failure in a row though. We handed it to Oxford, didn't show up. Everyone has us sussed out now, and knows how to play against us, and we have a team and manager that doesn't know how to respond to that, as today showed. Well done to Oxford for executing a great game plan. We'll be mid table next year if Evatt stays around, which he will, because he's our Chairwoman's favourite little boy.

But look, playoffs are the big thing in sport and have been for decades, the Rugby League Grand final, Rugby Union Premiership final, the EFL and Non-league playoffs, its how sports in general are going, we've seen the money and spectacle of the Super Bowl and NBA playoffs and the english board want in on it.

I'm not a fan of the play offs either but all clubs know the rules now and after 46 games you were not good enough to win automatic promotion. Funny thing is if you had won the final you wouldn't be moaning about the play offs. We were much better on the day and throughout the play offs and Des Buckingham showed what a very good coach we have

No, I've never liked the playoffs English-style. And I have nothing against Oxford, good luck to you. But it should have been 3rd in League 1 vs 3rd from bottom in Championship, similar to Scotland and Germany.
