Throughout the entire discussion, mainly about her, her facial expression doesn't move or change at all. It's like If you could somehow listen in on her brain, you'd probably hear a dial tone.

If he were talking to someone other than another doctor, that might be inappropriate. It's an expression most of us use. Did you want all clinical language? I think he sounds very insightful and does very well with the evaluation.

You could tell the diagnosis upset her though. But the doctors did the right thing to discuss it in front of her, rather than take the husband aside.

Better to do the test and adapt your life accordingly. To make the most of the time you have ie going out when your still able and adjusting your home to avoid dangers.
It also helps those around you help you better.

I wish this diagnosis investigation could be more integrative-looking at past truama, injuries, other medical health issues, previous depression and anxiety, etc.

Do you know where the studies are on the
efficacy of the 3 word recall test? There are 3 little articles I've found, but
not any decent studies to justify giving that test to the elderly. I know it's
a standard test and I'm betting someone came up with it decades ago, and it has
just been passed on down without any clear research. I'm writing a graphic
memoir of how I used my health and fitness knowledge to stop my mother with
mild dementia from forgetting me, and I've been flummoxed on the actual studies
for the 3 word recall test and the cube drawing test. How many people can go
grocery shopping with 3 items in mind, and actually remember all three? My
college freshmen cannot remember the 3 questions I ask them when they go around
the room. Let me know if you can point me in the right direction. Thanks

Orin Kay it's obvious that you have no clue about dementia so it's better to say nothing at all instead of writing a comment and making a fool of yourself

Believe it or not..when your dealing with a loved one with dementia.. it may be necessary to tell little white lies..along the way help get results..with getting them to the drs..if they are combative, or other things that they are resistant.

You cannot get the help you need if you don't get a diagnosis.
