Yup, you really sold this one :) Your excitement as you describe the possibilities for world-building toward the end of the video is infectious - I definitely want to get a copy of D100 Dungeon and this expansion along with it!
Hi Lone Adventurer! I really appreciate the feedback. It put a big smile on my face and was good to hear. It really is a great system. I think one of the major selling points, beyond the open nature of the world builder expansion, is that you are able to get fairly close to an RPG experience without having to use loose rules and your imagination in the way you do with a full solo rpg experience. You know what you can and cannot do with D100 Dungeon and it gives you a good number of options for your character. I enjoy it when I want to give my mind a rest and get into tracking the info for my character and world he is exploring. Thank you again for taking the time to comment and let me know your thoughts. Always appreciated.
Absolutely love this game system! Highly recommend it. Even just starting with the core book, you will find it a terrific dungeon delving game. Now World Builder expands the base game tremendously. I have enjoyed the base game, playing several different adventurers (characters) since about 2018. Then Oct 2021 I got World Builder and have really found it to be a true solo RPG. My adventurer has had so many events, encounters, quests, growing and even aging over more than two “years” in-game time, exploring now two “continents” it’s like a real story unfolding each time I play. Incidentally can be played not only solo but with others; I have played many base game adventures and also several in-game “months” in World Builder with my son.
Hi Eoj Y! I obviously agree with your thoughts here. Such a great addition. I have tried to get my two sons interested but no luck yet. I think they are too used to having that quick response of setup and play that the electronic gameplay medium has offered them. I feel lucky that I have got them interested in older arcade games and consoles. But there is still the wife and the wonderful community here that I can share it with! Although, now that I think about it, I did not try the co-op option that it uses, so I will have to consider that. Thank you for sharing your experience! I am happy to know that you were able to bond in that way with your son.
Hey Bhuda Tao, this has been on my mind. At the moment I have at least one playthrough scheduled and I have some reviews scheduled followed by an unnamed playthrough. I know I would like to get one in for sure. Maybe a complete and concise rules and playthrough session that takes a person through all of the rules and most of the gameplay elements might be good? So I would say keep an eye out. I do have more D100 Dungeon supplement reviews coming as well.
I'm new to your channel I subscribed, and thank you for your explanations and reviews is like I could sit down watch a review as you teach me how to play the game. I'm new to D100 my first solo dungeon crawl was four against Darkness, D100 now is it my top five of dungeon cross/rpg games. You should definitely run a small campaign using the world builder and the other books.
Hi there Jay :) Thank you for the kind words. I am planning on doing some solo play in the future. I am working on printing a modular dungeon set with minis to use with both of those systems. I have even considered modifying 4AD in particular to fit a minis standard of play. So it is definitely on my radar of things I would like to do.
I only have one problem, not enough time to get into world building! It looks like so much fun, I will definitely set aside some time in the future to create my own story in my own world!
I think that is my biggest problem with most of my collection, as I think it is for a lot of us. Much of my gaming is being done through the channel itself. I dont get much time to solo outside of work I do with the channel. The only exception is the time I spend with my wife doing co-op boardgaming or role playing. I think I can definitely come close to where you are there. I would love to hear your thoughts, when and if you get the time. Thank you so much for the positive thoughts!
Hi junkbarbarian, I can say that I know how you feel. I know there are solo sci fi adventure games but nothing that quite touches the genre like d100 dungeon does for fantasy. At least not that I am aware of. I am however thoroughly enjoying STARFORGED at the moment. I will reach out to the Adventures in Solitaire gaming group on Facebook and see if anyone there knows of something I don't and reply here if I find something. Also, not trying to recruit but you are welcome to the group if your interested. I haven't seen a question gone unanswered so far. I'll let you know what I found out. Thanks for the great question!
Hey junkbarbarian, I reached out to the group and there are not a lot of options out there. There are a few titles that touch some aspects of solo sci-fi adventure/rpg. But nothing that gets too close too D100 Dungeon. If you are willing to go old school then Star Smuggler is an open world adventure game with some rpg elements. You go where you want and it has repeatable paragraph entries. I thought it was pretty cool and its hard to find anything out there like it as well. There is also a project in the works by the author of "The Drifter". It is space based and also solo and looks to be in the vein of a hex crawl. But outside of that we start getting further from what you are looking for. There is Voyage of the B.S.M. Pandora which is open and an adventure, also older. ( and Wreck of the B.S.M. Pandora, though its not open world ). If you dont mind minis then Five Parsecs From Home: Solo Adventure Wargaming (2021) may be worth looking into. But it is more akin to tactical war gaming. It does look like it has some adventuring and leveling concepts as well. All of the above can be found on Board Game Geek as well. I hope that helps, even if just a little, If I ever see something at comes closer to sci-fi D100 Dungeon I will be all over it. ;)
You might look at the Micro Chapbook Series on Drive Through RPG there are multiple sci fi expansion and the Chapbook system is solo, with random generation and dungeons. It is a series I have been looking at reviewing as well. It is said to be akin to Four Against Darkness as well, and Four Against Darkness is pretty close to D100 Dungeon. So this may well be the closest we have. Don't know how I forgot this one.
Hi Steve! Thank you for the complement. I really appreciate it. Well all I can say is....I certainly did :P I dont regret it at all. I have other systems that I wish had this type of supplement/expansion as an addition.
@@adventuresinsolitaire I really enjoy your presentation style and how you talk about the subjects in question. I will keep my eyes peeled for more, once more thanks for your work!

I love D100 DUNGEON MAPPING GAME and would love to see more RUclips playthroughs.

A fantastic summary of this book and the d100 game. I am super excited to play this game.

This is what I wanted Forbidden Lands to be when I bought it years ago

I love the idea, but I’m kinda done with fantasy. Is there a sci-fi or post apocalyptic equivalent?

Great Review, about to open my wallet
