    I played the opening two hours or so on a 120hz tv (vrr) with the visuals mode on and set to 60 fps. The indoor areas held up very well. New Atlantis certainly runs inconsistently but still seems to be within the vrr range. From what I’ve seen it doesn’t run that much better in performance mode so I think I will continue to play with the visuals mode at 60 fps. When combined with the improved hdr it feels like the game is much closer to what it should have been at launch. I’m firmly convinced this game was still a year away from being complete when they launched but just could t wait anymore. Hopefully Bethesda keeps plugging away. I really really want mod support on Xbox.

    Hmm. Can kind of see why they applied the 30fps cap (city areas and space fights are 35-45fps). If you have a VRR TV though, it's a particularly nice upgrade.

      I also understand that but it does explain why so outdated game runs at 30fps. Many loading screens, cities without vehicles and still 30fps;) Those of course are CPU relatated.

    • @andyward8430
      @andyward8430 6 месяцев назад +2

      I can firmly say that with vrr on a 120 fps display it feels significantly smoother than 30 fps in almost all cases and it never feels worse than 30 fps. It’s still not great that you need an expensive tv to get a “smoothish” experience. One thing worth mentioning is that the game already had great input lag at 30 fps and it is even better at 60 so the gunplay feels very tight.

      It’s good enough tho cities which you basically just talk to people and run around being 30 to 40 but combat and planet exploration being 50 to 60 Yh these modes are worth it it’s higher than 30fps so it’s good

    It’s a hard choice, keep visuals at 30fps or performance 60fps. It sure feels nice to be indoors running at 60fps, but then you go outside in cities it drops hard. I don’t know.

    I finally returned to Starfield after six months. Just played uncapped 120fps with VRR enabled and it is indeed a game changer. Don't think I'll be playing any other way. Jet packing feels so much better plus I had it maxed out when I stopped. I'm starting to since we may have another Cyberpunk situation on our hand. Just remember that Cyberpunk was much more broken than Starfield at launch.

    I am playing on visuals 60fps and ok it’s not hitting 60fps but it’s between 40 and 50 most of the time it’s better than 30fps so it’s a good update in interiors it’s at 60fps pretty much cities will only hit 30 to 40fps but they don’t really matter because your only running around and talking no combat really happens there overall this update makes the game play better so it’s a win

      That's weird I went to New Atlantis and was hitting 60 a lot. THO I only went to the launchpad area and Commercial areas. didn't visit the other Areas. I use a VRR TV. I was actually surprised given most videos i seen mentioned 30s-40s for Cities.
      Set to Visuals 60, maybe I just got lucky. That's how it is with Bethesda games for me.

      i don't know wft happened with bethesda all these years when they could've updated their engine to current gen standards, before selling out to microsoft.

    • @MeltWithU
      @MeltWithU 6 месяцев назад

      @@mathias2277 that’s just it. You hit on the main issue. Bethesda has not kept up with the times and has wasted way too many resources trying to squeeze the last drop out of a lemon. the fact is, the engine does not work in modern times it cannot be made to work in modern times. They need to ditch it and either use UE5 or developing entirely new engine that allows for multicore simultaneous streaming. Their engine has not been truly updated since Oblivion. Hence, the reason why you are seeing the same issues. Loading screens galore.
      The fact is, No Man’s Sky is doing it 10 times better and continues to look and run better with every update… a game that was developed by 10 people at the start. Which I think they have 20 now. Maybe more. I haven’t up with the company. Regardless, the game is seamless and has so much more to do than Bethesda’s offering. You can truly play the game any way you want to and switch to whenever you feel like doing that second or that day.
      Whether that be mining for resources and selling them… Playing the game as a mercenary and doing missions for different factions. You can actually play those factions against each other if you want to. You can play it as a flight combat game, for which it plays incredibly well. Especially with a flight stick. You can build your own base on any planet you choose and simply play the game as a farming simulator. The choice is yours.
      Not to say that you can’t get any enjoyment out of Starfield. It’s actually fun in spurts. But, it’s very frustrating looking at loading screens so often. Not to mention, space combat feels like it is turn based, simply because of how antiquated the game play feels. All of this is really concerning for the future of their games. Specifically the next elder scrolls game. Which, if they don’t switch or update the game engine… We are going to be looking at the exact same issues. which, truthfully, I’m expecting. Because if they were to now start working on the game engine… We won’t see the next Elder scrolls game for eight years or more. They just need to switch to UE5 and be done with it.

    30fps is always better than something like this. But its not because the game is so complex but because its engine is so old. Now I fully understand the decision to lock at 30fps. But I would rather spent time on polishing 30fps because it's far from perfect.

    • @accountteam9859

      No, it's not overrated. Free-Sync & G-Sync are some of the best things gaming has got in all history. I recommend you to try VRR, your opinion will completly change as soon as you try it. No, it's not needed but it's a very cool feature that actually improves your gaming experience by completly removing Screen-Tearing and normally any recent monitor or even TV will probably come with VRR, at least Free-Sync.
