    It's got nothing to do with Elton John. It's a song about memory and lost love. It's Justin Hayward, the blond lead singer of the Moody Blues, thinking about a young woman he loved in the 60s. The video goes back and forth through time. And the woman is now married with a family and she thinks of him when the contemporary Moody Blues do a concert in her town. But these memories can't be turned into a new love. It's lost in the past.

      She has a right to her opinion. But I was like wow.

    • @GulNadar
      @GulNadar 7 месяцев назад

      She's not asking if the song is ABOUT Elton John, she was asking the chat if that was a cameo from Elton John.
      Just like most people won't recognize Steven Spielberg had an uncredited cameo as an office worker in The Blues Brothers. Is Spielberg memorable in it, no. Is the movie about Spielberg, no. He's just a guy at the end of the quest. Heck, most people reading this will end up Googling it to see if what I'm saying is real or not.
      Also, she asks about the eye makeup. The song isn't about eye makeup either.
      She DOES comment on how the woman gets caught up in a storm of people. Which IS relatable to the plot of the song. Does she go into a music history expose on how the black and white film characters represent the band, etc.? No. She did appreciate and enjoy the song. She did engage with her live audience, which is part of her content.
      At least we can all imagine you shouting over her with the "right" answer, and the sigh a percentage gave in disgust.
      Good day Sir!

    You're not catching the meaning of the video.
    The video depicts a woman who wistfully remembers her relationship with Justin Hayward from years ago. It shows flashbacks of her and Justin, along with the other band members (in B&W), eventually showing her with her family in present times (but still remembering her past with Justin).
    She eventually goes to a present day performance of the Moody Blues, and sneaks backstage, hoping to catch him. Justin spots her as he is pushed out among a crowd of people, but is unable to turn to her. He gestures "Oh well..." and the video ends.

    • @GulNadar
      @GulNadar 7 месяцев назад

      Actually, she does reference how people just get caught up in a storm and not seeing them again. She just doesn't give all of the music history as a response to it.
      One could even go further in depth of that single "Oh well" at the end of the video and say that it represents all of the people we once said "Goodbye" or "See you tomorrow" and just never saw again regardless of how important they used to be to us because "Life got busy" or worse.

    • @GulNadar
      @GulNadar 7 месяцев назад

      @wyomarine6341 It's a business aspect for her. Is it a true reaction if she stops her content to look up and give a 20-minute music history presentation? No, it's on to the next because that one is in the books paid for.
      Soooo many of us are so sorry she didn't give you exactly what you wanted. Obviously, she enjoyed it but should have left anything she didn't have in music history to the dustbin of time. Maybe you missed she's not a musical historian and is actually a performance artist trying to make a buck.
      Instead of responding like a snit to make yourself feel better, or worse pitying her, as someone who experienced those changes you could have had a positive engagement that helped her grow.

    Amazed that practically all the reactors I've seen - including this one - just absolutely can't figure out what's going on here. The woman and the lead singer had a relationship until their paths diverged. He "followed the music". She eventually married and had a family. Years later, he still thinks about her, wondering if she still thinks about him. She does. The black and white sections are the past. The color sections are the present. She sees a poster for his band and attends. Their eyes meet. She tries to see him backstage, but once again the music - in this case band members and crew - usher him away. The music is upbeat, the meaning is melancholy. Lost love. What if.

    I wonder if people get the meaning of this song/video. What does it mean when the video goes from color to B&W then back to color? (Hint: time shift! ...nostalgic look back into history.)
    The video is telling the story of 2 young people in love, who drifted apart because the guy in the band became successful, and walked away from his girlfriend. The older blonde guy and the young blonde guy are the same guy, just decades apart. The young girl kissing the blonde guy and the older woman alone in her room or with a boring husband and a bunch of kids are the same person.
    But she sees him on TV during a performance and starts remembering what she lost. Funnily enough, he starts thinking about her at the same time.
    She grabs his record and runs out intending to go to him at his performance.
    It doesn't end well.
    I've never thought this was a fun upbeat song, even though it's one of my favorite Moody Blues songs.
    "...when the music plays
    ...when the words are touched with sorrow
    ...when the music plays
    ...I hear the sound I had to follow..."
    "...once upon a time
    ...once when you were mine
    ...I remember skies
    ...mirrored in your eyes."
    "I wonder where you are.
    I wonder if you think about me...
    Once upon a time
    ... in Your Wildest Dreams."

    Those are “granny glasses” popular in mid-late 60s. In mid 60s we wore tons of eye makeup - video is a bit exaggerated. No it isn’t Elton John. The shift from color to black and white to color denoted past to future. B/w is in sixties etc - color was present day.

      No the makeup on her in the '60s was NOT exaggerated at all. Look at photos of Twiggy or Jean Shrimpton from the '60s and you will see makeup exactly like that. I was a teenager and in my early 20s in the '60s and a LOT of us girls did our makeup like she has in this video. It was the "mod" "London look" British Look that was popular in the UK, in the U.S., Europe.

    The Moody Blues are one of my all - time favorite rock bands. They are very talented musicians who play 26 instruments between them. Their music is unique, and they were one of the first bands, if the first to combine rock and classical music in their songs. Their make themed concept albums with great lyrics that are thought provoking. I loved the creativity in this video, but I am not a fan of this song. I think it would be interesting if you react to a live performance where they play with a full orchestra. Their song Nights in White Satin would be the perfect choice for this.

    I would recommend reacting to the follow up to this song and music video, I Know You Are Out There Somewhere, which is a direct sequel to this track.

    Have you ever seen any PMJ (Post Modern Jukebox)? I recommend All About That Bass, if you haven't already seen/heard it. There's another Julliard opera-trained artist in that one.
    btw, this is my favorite Moody Blues song. thx for the reaction. I know the one guy sure looks like Elton John in the video, but Elton is not credited in the credits at IMDB.

    Really wish the eye make-up girl had included pictures of eyes on her lids, so that it would look like her eyes were open when they were closed. Freak everybody out, but at least she wouldn't have to sleep w/ one eye open, in case her S.O. was one of "those kind" of guys ( or girls. -- not that there's anything wrong w/ that).

    The makeup is very '60's. Just look at pictures of Twiggy. I doubt that this is Elton John in the video.

      She wasn't a groupie. He was her boyfriend before his band became famous.

    Each and every heart, it seems
    Is bounded by a world of dreams
    And each and every rising sun
    Is greeted by a lonely, lonely one

    I wouldn't classify this as cheerful. It's more of an ode to a lost love, and the never ending quest to understand why it went wrong. Try out "I Just Don't Care" and "Slings And Arrows", both from the same album.
