    I've had mine for over 6 months now, absolutely love it.
    8:52 One thing to note: The DC port is not just output - it's input too! Any old DC power supply up to 25V can double as a charger for this too, completely automatically, which is super nice.
    The DC port is a gamechanger. I saved $170 alone using it as a power supply for a micro dremel from proxxon who normally charge that for their 'official' power supply. It's a handheld variable voltage power supply for electronics projects too, which is incredibly rare, particularly at this price range.

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  6 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah, the DC port I kind of understand, puts it in one package. I use a PD trigger board and a buck boost power supply with it's own screens and controls. I like that since I don't have to go into any menus or anything.

    • @toetie2019
      @toetie2019 5 месяцев назад

      I’ve been looking all through the user manual, RUclips videos and contacted support but they don’t respond. Is the DC input compatible with pass through charging? Can you charge it through DC and then use the other 3 ports for charging other devices?? That would be a giant game changer

    For the price they should make 18650 cells rreplacable. As of now, it is designed to be disposable which is a shame.

    • @siberx4
      @siberx4 Год назад +3

      I'd be curious to know how hard it is to disassemble. I at least see screws at one end and the main board looks to be connectorized, so it might not be impossible to open it up and replace the cells if you have the right equipment (a battery tab spot welder or a buddy with one). It at least looks a lot more possible than many of the sonically welded units potted in epoxy that are impossible to disassemble without destroying them.

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  Год назад +18

      Yeah, it will take work for sure but I think this one is easier to replace the cells versus glued shut power banks.

      Funnily enough, I managed to get a couple of 18650 four-pack power banks (minus the cells) for something like $10 each some years ago.
      They only go up to 10W per port (2 ports iirc), but you can get the cells in and out just by sliding off a cover.

    Great review! Makes me wonder about the thermals and efficiency of my Sandberg 100W powerbank I’ve had for a few years now. The aluminum enclosure gets hot sometimes when charging my MacBook Pro, but it keeps on going until it’s fully discharged. Heavy and not cheap but pretty happy with it thus far.

    It's so beautiful.... I was going to get the Baseus Blade just to have a "100w" power bank available but this is way more good looking. Problem is this is waaaaay more expensive compared to the Blade. This is 239 euro - about $260 here, where I live and the Baseus Blade is 70 euro or about $75. So yeah, I think I will get that Blade. Your reviews are spectacular and I feel like I’m in school when I sit down to watch one. Somewhere along the line I was made to believe you are Canadian? If so even better, you have a new Canadian (Ontario) subscriber here.
    You have so many videos, not sure if you have done the new Anker Prime line (model A2345). I’d be interested to see if they are worth a purchase.
    Also, what’s becoming more mainstream now are V-Mount batteries. Kind of may be out of the purview here, but they have made their way into home use (when not used for photography). I’ve just been through a trial and error period using them and the inconsistencies are significant. I’d love you to do reviews on a few of the better known brands.
    Thank you for your reviews.

    This last week I changed mine for an Anker Prime 250W. The reason is my Framework laptop battery inflated, so I removed it, thinking I could use the power bank to power the laptop. The laptop was incredibly unstable on the Shargeek, not fully booting most of the time. Whereas it was very reliable on the Anker.
    My best guess is the Anker has higher capacitance on the output side, likely lower ripple / more stable for spikey loads where you would normally have the device's own battery as a UPS.

    Nice video as always. I actually like the inclusion of these helpful displays on higher capacity batteries. They're not critical to have and they're unnecessary, but it's great to see which way power is going and how much is left. For the always-on stuff, I wonder when someone will consider using idk, e-ink to make it always-on without having to worry about the panel discharging the battery.
    Or heck, even just a series of LEDs with different colors for different modes would've been fine too, but I guess panels are cool.
    Also I'm hyped for what's next. I like thin but powerful chargers. I have a 20W Belkin one and it's handy for emergencies since it's so easy to slip into a bag or a side pocket since it's co compact unlike cubes or bricks. A thin 60W charger, a USB-C cable and a Macbook Air or an LG Gram sounds like a killer combo for lightweight but long-term use.

    during the crowdfunding campaign, they were going to go with red panasonic cells but there was a supply shortage so ended up using the blue samsung ones you see today. this was in 2021.
    considering the anker and ugreen models came out much later (this year for the anker prime), this storm 2 power bank shows its longevity.
    i use one of mine for portable soldering. it is helpful looking at the screen to look at power draw. i don’t need it to be super accurate for that so it serves my needs well over the years.

Honestly it just looked cool, and there weren't many other options with 100w output a couple years ago (that I had found). Also, the timer is really weird. After 99 hours, it just resets. @@AllThingsOnePlacethanks for the reply.
      I'm looking for a transparent power bank as my next unit. That's why I'm hovering around at Shargeek even though they have some teething issues...
      Although Shargeek 170 is 24000mAh as compared to the 25600mAh of the Storm2, it is 119usd on kickstarter and additional 20-30usd for shipping. So its about 139usd, which is still cheaper than the black Friday price of 159usd of the storm2.
      I actually prefer the functionality of storm2 and the interactiveness of the screen and button. The Shargeek 170 screen is bigger but appears more passive and nerfed in details...
      I think I may take the plunge for the kickstarter hoping that they have truly improved on the temperatures and reliability for the Shargeek 170. And perhaps suggest to them to kickstart an upgraded and improved storm2 ver2 with better reliability, etc..

    I've had mine since the kickstarter and the battery percentage has become flaky. It will show 0% and still keep charging my devices. I am guessing that it went out of whack at some point because I normally keep it charged but it drops from 99% to below 10% very fast (less than a minute). I first freaked out and plugged it in to charge it and it went straight to 99% which also was sketchy but I believed the 99% since I hadn't used it to deplete it. So I am currently running it down as far as I can, hopefully it doesn't ruin it. It still says 100% battery life after what it says is 186 cycles. Once I get it as low as it will go while sitting at 0% for the majority of the time hopefully when I recharge it, it will get back into normal percentage showing. I don't like how it drains when not even used (even when turned off) faster when just left alone and the display goes off after 1 min. but still drains when off, nothing like grabbing a power bank to go and throwing it in your bag to find it is at 50% when you go to use it.
    Good review and agree it's just a power bank and probably not worth it in the long run. I'm a fan of kickstarter and like to try new things so I get what I get.

I bought this to replace my first Anker 737 which failed, but bought a second Anker 737 to replace *this* battery bank, after Anker refused to warranty the first 737 after it stopped working in 1 month and they advised me to just dispose of it.

      Yeah, that's so new of a device, no idea what actually works with it or not. The steam deck may be fine with this power bank since it won't draw 100 watts. This one actually over heats much less easily versus the slim version.

    So what would you recommend to charge MBP14 M3Pro and iPhone 13 Pro?

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  6 месяцев назад

      For a power bank, any of the larger ones that doesn't overheat basically. The MBP 14 has a 70 watt hour battery alone so that plus a phone plus losses, no 'airline' ready power bank is going to charge both devices even once. If you just need to extend work time a bit, this or any other is going to work. The ones that over heat you have to use a 60W cable to charge the laptop back up to not stop charging during transfer.

    • @Nol3j
      @Nol3j 6 месяцев назад

    I agree with you, I think the only great think about this power bank, is that it uses top shelf Samsung Japanese cell's, and that it uses a cool transparent case. But other then that, the spec's, and the data you acquired from it, would not cause anyone to want to merry the power bank to a USB device, cause that marriage just won't last long. You could bribe it with a doughnut, but thats not going to work either. Also, when you turned the power off and back on again, I couldn't believe how long it too it to wake up, I was watching your top meter for what felt like 10-seconds, before a readout showed back up again, I was like, dam, this is not a full sized PC, shouldn't take it that long. How much code did they program into the IC, clearly too much!

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  Год назад +1

      haha, yeah, it's quite slow. The button pushes aren't consistent either so it mis reads the one button it has sometimes. There is also no UI feedback so it's push and hold and push but for how long? It doesn't respond until you let go. I have heard people have issues with the power bank being flat and never coming back on after several months which if you leave it active will happen. I still have the slim 2 around and it still boots up, but you have to remember to shut it down.

      Many chargers will overheat if you try to continuously pull that much power from them. The supplied power adapters are designed to cope with longer term output, they still aren't 100% duty cycle. You basically have to go up to a power station and the 130W AC to DC brick with the laptop. Not elegant but it will work, or software limit the device to 100 watts in with a conventional USB device.
