UPDATE: Since we wrote this video, the Pentagon have apparently announced that American weapons systems can indeed be used during the Kursk offensive (www.defense.gov/News/Transcripts/Transcript/Article/3867296/deputy-pentagon-press-secretary-sabrina-singh-holds-a-press-conference/ ).
It's also worth mentioning that, while there have been some reports of Ukrainian F16s in Kursk, the lack of video evidence this deep into the offensive suggests that Ukraine have not deployed F16s to Kursk (yet).

Putin has said the the only thing that will make them use nukes is an attack on Russian homeland. It is obvious that when Ukraine now loses with conventional weapons they want to provoke Russia to use them, thus dragging NATO into a fullscale nuclear war.

It's so convenient for everyone to ignore the fact that there is a gas line that is still pumping gas from Russia to Europe in that town. Europe still pays Russia for gas partly funding the war they so dislike on paper. And Ukraine still let this happen (because without it they won't get the aid they want). If Ukraine really wanted this war to stop they would cut all the business with Russia, but they won't. The elites from all sides benefit from this war and you don't have guts to acknowledge that.

@MinecraftAxolotls is not true. The British hoped to use galiplli as a bridgehead to capture Istanbul. Get turks out of the war. Connect with Russia and cut oil for Germany. They already had a 1910 study on the straits' coastal defense, and they knew the attack would be prone to failure. Winston Churchill proposed the attack as a "new idea" and pulled strings to make it happen. Then exactly as the analysis predicted they could not land close to Istanbul because of the coastal batteries. They had to land on an isolated peninsula. The British landing created a rage among the turks and hundreds of thousands of middle class turks volunteered for the fight. Germany sent more machine guns and artillery to bog the British down. The turks immediately adapted to trench warfare and bogged the British down. Ultimately, the royal navy had to come pick the British soldiers up and admit defeat.

These "volunteers" are essentially ethnically white European Russians from Moscow who hate Muslims and the various other minorities within Russia MORE than they hate ethnically white Ukrainians, and see the religious minorities as more dangerous to Russia and thus Putin as an enemy for siding with them rather than...exterminating...them.

@@lordcirrhosisofliver First of all it's mostly the south not east, second of all ultranationalist Russians have a point in their grudge that Russia is MORE multicultural today than 20 years ago, especially as ethnic Russians re-classify themselves as something else and learn other languages. It's a phenomenon that's common around liberal countries like Spain and the UK.
For example, in the UK, in Wales especially, a larger portion of the population than 20 years ago in Wales classify themselves as "Welsh", explaining where large numbers of "English" / "British" people disappeared to, as they haven't died. People who would have otherwise spoken English at home, now increasingly speak Welsh, as the local nationalist government forces every child to learn Welsh. The number of Welsh speakers has tripled.
In Spain you can see the same effect especially in Valencia and Galicia. Everyone knows Basque and Catalonia has always been separate in a sense, but in the last 20 years Galicians and Valencians have "rediscovered" their roots, and increasingly turn away from Spain.
The same phenomenon occurs in Russia, especially in the south, but in this instance not only is it language and culture, but also religion, as more and more ethnic Russians declare themselves as Muslims, and then no longer ethnically Russian at all, or even Russian-speaking.
According to a recent Moscow State University research project, 17% (!) of Chechnyan residents are those who classed themselves as ethnic Russians who are atheist and speak Russian at home (and a further 4% Orthodox), and now they form a 21% of the population, in addition to the 68% others, who are ethnic Chechens, Muslim and speak Chechen at home. A further 9% of the population class themselves as ethnic Russians who speak Chechen at home, coming from families who in the past spoke Russian at home.
There's nothing inherently 'more' nationalist about a government being nationalist for a majority rather than a state / local government being nationalist for a minority.

    It's Ukrainian Armed Forces.
I don't doubt that Russian volunteer detachments provided intelligence, but volunteer units don't have access to the armour, armour variants, and troop movers that have been spotted in engagements with Russian elements.
Nor the reasons why so many Russian elements capitulated so quickly, nor how they were so easily able to occupy slabs of the Russian countryside.
And by all metrics for what it's cost Ukrainian forces so far, it's been an undeniable success. Especially when so few forces would have been spent for far less ground on domestic fronts.
It's 'risky', but the Ukrainians needed to send a message to the Russians that their troops are battle-conditioned, cohesive, unified and capable of inflicting strategic inputs of damages on the Russians ... if they don't properly defend their borders. And by doing as such, the Russians have halted most of their meat grinder bite and hold antics in Ukraine in favour of pulling forces out of Donbas to re-org elsewhere.
This is precisely what Ukrainians should have been doing in the past before the bulk of Russian forces were allowed to dig in on Ukrainian soil.

@@attilamarics3374 Because it's there and it was undefended.
It comes down to force metrics. A few thousand additional soldiers in an established defensive position against a force superior opposition will not inflict the same casualties, nor gain or defend as much ground, as being able to leverage a greater force multiplicity of combined assets against a smaller enemy force elsewhere.
Particularly if, as was the case in the Kursk oblast, that the Russian guard units were depopulated of personnel and lacked the artillery and armour that was redirected to service Russian attacks on the Donbas salient.
Not only that, but by forcing the Russian Federation to have to redirect elements of their force strength elsewhere to shore up defensive lines that the enemy has exploited, you decrease opposition strength elsewhere.
If the Russians allow the Ukrainian element to dig in, or worst case scenario further extend their control into a core periphery of the Russian Federation in the face of the collapse of Russian guard units, they'll also inflict additional casualties on Russian elements when they inevitably have to retake it.
This is also a fundamental element of deciding where the enemy has to fight. Not simply being in a perpetually defensive posture.
If you have tens of thousands of soldiers one place, shoring up the defence of a few more thousand isn't going to achieve the same effect as taking that thousand and staging an attack where the enemy has a force strength and force capability thoroughly far less than what force you can use to uproot and disperse them.
If the Ukrainians aren't going to gamble on targets of opportunity when they so temptingly avail themselves, then not only will the defence of Ukraine suffer--So will the morale and trust in leadership.

What I do know is they've taken more ground in such a short amount of time than any force has since this idiotic war started. From my count from images I've seen, I can think of three tanks and IFVs that have either been immobilised, critically damaged or destroyed (bit hard to tell from exclusively aerial footage).
Now that number is going to obviously be higher as time goes on, but frankly if any attack was only considered on the basis of zero loss of personnel or materiel then there's never going to be an attack, is there?
Seems pretty successful to me. And Russians aren't going to bother reinforcing the area, then you're talking roughly 400,000 Russians displaced without hopes of return in Kursk and its surrounding population centres alone.
And given that as soon as the attack happened, and the full scale of just what breaches were happening became an undeniable event--Suddenly total Russian bite and hold attacks on the Donbas salient decreased.
Now I've got my doubts Putin or Gerasimov is going to just let Ukrainians turn a Russian oblast into a fortress.

Not only was your information immediately out of date, your descriptions were incorrect, and I forgot the other thing already but dud I was livid.
It was not UA that went after Belgorod. Currently the F16 are not flying OVER Rus territory,... that was the whole thing about radar capability and range, why they wanted the system.
    Fuck.

    - There is NO ambiguity, Ukrainian troops are participating in this operation
    - Pentagon has given the go-ahead to use any US equipment in this operation

Title is a clickbait and dishonest reporting. Kursk is a city of 450 000 people, 100 km from Ukrainian border. Ukrainians are not remotely close to occupying this city. Nor they are remotely close to occupying Kursk oblast. They broke through Russians defensive lines in Kursk oblast, its very deifferent to occupying Kursk. I believed TLDR to be better, this clickbait and lie is massive disappointment.
