Damian has very good kicks due to his TKD background... but he really needs to mix up his styles in order to win more matches. His punches are lack luckster, he didn't utilize leg kicks more, Close-quater defence is almost non-existent. I hope he improves his combos a bit more in the future.
he is on kombat taekwondo now a new full contact TKD franchise , wich mix ITF, WT and ATA taekwondo styles
UNA GRAN MEJORIA POR DAMIAN, ya se le ve mas comodo, yo estaba esperando este dia que dejara el TKD deportivo por algo mas cercano a MMA, para mi se tardo un poco, pero supongo estaba esperando agotar todas sus opciones para ser olimpico, un gran deportista y artemarcialista, si sigue se vienen cosas interesantes en esta nueva modalidad
ahora esta en la nueva franquicia de kombat taekwondo va a estar mas comodo todavia
Great match, but the other guy won. I’ve seen a number of bizarre calls in karate combat.
That 3rd round was a toss up I would give it to Villa for pushing the fight forward damage and control plus the 2 or 3 throws he got on the other guy. But if they are judging the 3rd round purely on points, I think Larrosa got more hits in. So I agree it was the wrong call but it was close enough I understand how they got the call they made.

It's really good to see a taekwondo guy here. I hope he get better in his kickboxing game, learning how to use punches and calf kicks to set up the head and body kicks
The fight was close. Maybe you all need to watch it again. I would probably give the win to LaRossa but Villa definitely won the first round.
its really cool seeing karate vs tkd. I would also like to see karate vs sanda/wushu
bring more tkd practitioners to karate combat
If we start seeing other styles outside of karate like taekwondo, hapkido, sanda, shootboxing, silat, etc, they might want to rebrand themselves as "Kumite Combat" which sounds pretty cool imo.

I was also TaeKwonDo athlete, Damian kick actually good cz i've watch him for a long time when he compete at international tournament. If damian can improve his punch,keep his distance for ex.he use punch to close fight and use his kick to long range fight, or he can make a combo with punch and kick. TKD kick can be deadly if it get in to the opponent, but in this case Damian is come in to Karate's world, the thing he must do is fight with Karate's way with TKD touch. Not gonna lie, Karate defence is really good it will not easy to make Karate's fighter to fall and the punch is strong and accurate, i know Damian is use to TKD's sparing way but, he must adapt and improve the way he fight.
I think it’s because offense and defense can be done from the same stance in karate whether it’s orthodox or side stance, left or right side. Wonderboy uses the side stance mostly, to keep himself out of his opponent’s range and switches quickly as he moves forward or backward to do whatever he needs to do. Maybe Damian can do something simlar in TKD style, otherwise he can only be defensive or fight long range, which his opponents will probably refuse to do by avoiding the kick and forcing their own distance and close range fast to blitz. He does need to drill his punches and defense against punches though or take up boxing.

I had Larrosa winning this, Villa's kick didn't do any damage except for the liver shot
Same Larrosa's ground & pound, almost zero damage and effectivness except for the one in 3rd round, Villa had effective aggresivneess and more kick techniques landed, those are the priorities in Karate Combat. Punches landed and takedowns had less priorite.

I don't understand how they decide the winner. Did not Larrosa score the same points as Villa plus 2 takedowns?
