Dealing with Mecum sounds horrible and way too many fees. Sounds like a bit like they just screw everybody on both sides of the sale. Also: That Cuda in NOICE!
Also with Mecum you need to pay and register regardless if you actually win a car or buy a car. With BAT you just register and bid or not and no risk if just looking and don't win. Nothing to pay until you win the BAT auction.
My father was a physician and bought the nearly identical, car in 63, except no opening clamshell lights and instead there were four lights on the grill. These cars made a real splash back then and cost $6500. Of course that is worth around 8 times that much in today’s dollars. I used to steal the car whenever my folks were away, which was regularly. I knew how to disconnect the odometer so they never found out.
Especially on Mecum you repeat yourself constantly about the cool atmosphere. I think that was to compensate for the fee you pay on top of the price of the car. It is only anecdotal but a friend went to a Mecum auction held in Portland Oregon and purchased a 56 Corvette. The disclosure on the car was less than candid. There were all sorts of problems that necessitated considerable money being spent sorting them out and repairs. That you have to pay an annual fee just to bid is also BS but at least ,as a business can be written off on your taxes. I think the trailer bidding option or better yet finding a car you are interested in that is in a reasonable distance from where you live and then having the car gone over by a reputable mechanic and body shop to save you from buying a car that looks good but underneath has major problems. Some money spent up front can save you money and grief after the purchase of your dream car.
I say “NO” to Mecum, but that wasn’t a bad price for the Rivera, aside from the nickel and diming from impersonal process. But two beautiful cars there!
I sell on Bring a Trailer it has always been a great experience for the buyer and myself. I have a few disagreements with the ad writers at times but we usually come to an agreement on how the ad should read.
Had experience with both. At Bring a Trailer the bids are real, at Mecum, not so much. Mecum is pretty expense when you add the buyers premium, sellers premium and slotting fee.
Chris, Two beautiful cars with drastic purchasing experience. I don't think Mecum is for the average enthusiast especially with all those somewhat hidden fees. On another not my brother as two unrestored 65 riviera GS's both with twin four barrel carbs.
Great video. So BAT will work with the seller to make a deal happen within reason, you just do not know if they will until the final closing. It has to be within reason. Mecum you don't have commenters to help or dissuade you with a purchase which makes it dangerous, also you can not see a video of it driving, and or get it inspected prior to bidding. BAT you can ask a question and get a response usually pretty quick, I think that is a benefit for the end user, but you will pay a premium for it.
I don't think you overpaid it's hard to get a cuda for under 100k that's not a rust bucket & the Buick is a 65- 70 k in good condition to the right buyer
Nice video 65 Riv 445 /401 cub , red may be an original color? Some were loaded power windows seats ac , rally wheels 15” ps pb - a carter carb std GS twin carter 500 . Paint original laquer base . Turbine 400 trans- 307 reared reg . Will do what is on Speedo , no stress . Ac option on some , I have a 65 std no ac 465t 425 cub , getting some new stuff or old new stuff hard to find. Love the clamshell headlights. Gathering parts to get ready for a resto . Riv at 59 years old, Saw the 69 c-10 blue step my dads last truck looks like it , I’ve got it but was hit by a speeder ,totally messed up. D from NC.
Maple Motors, sell trucks, hot rods pricing starts around 11,000 up too 60,000 and they do finance; I believe they been in business 40 some years. Restro is paying too much
You just guaranteed I will never deal with Mecum. That is one thing I don't tolerate is someone trying to bulldog me. See I know my money has value everywhere, but their car only has to a small market.
I bought a 66 GTO on BAT and the car was BETTER THAN Advertised - YES I DID NOT GET RIPPED OFF ! I could easily make money reselling but I'm a enthusiast and not a FLIPPER lol
that cuda is badass for sure....takeaway form vid....dont buy from mecum unless you want the experience and it is the only option b/c they will dig deep lol
I believe we're going to retouch the paint up but keep it as the same design; as well as get some upgrades to the wheels/tires and exhaust. There's some more updates on the newer video: ruclips.net/video/-iWllEmTjIU/видео.html
Chris as I was watching this video and saw the 70 ‘Cuda, not to sound like a lunatic or make you think I’m crazy I think that this was my car that was stolen in October 7, 2016 in Bensonhurst Brooklyn, NY. I know this sounds completely insane but is there anyway that I would be able to speak with you to discuss the history of this vehicle there are some specific modifications that I can pinpoint that I did so you would know I had built it. If there is anyway that we can get in contact, Ive been calling the NYPD regularly to see if my vin turned up which is a real BS23 code. I can promise video contact info directly if you could respond to this comment, I don’t want to put personal information on the comment section. Thank you in advance. Andrew I
@@RestoModsthank you for responding so quickly, I apologize if my comment might have sounded completely out of left field, after 8 years of searching for my car and seeing the video it was a knee jerk reaction and it was written from an emotional response instead of logical one. I will reach out directly. Regards Andrew.
Mecum is a complete 💩 show! Fees are high, they over sell your realistic prices and they lost 1 of my key fobs for a 2023 Bronco Wildtrak….. took a full 2 weeks to get the fob back… I’m done with Dana…
Mecum is very respectable and well-known however, your prices are out of control and they have too many fees even their shipping should be dropped, especially since they shipped so many of them they should not be charging that kind of money
Done both, dissatisfied with both. Various reasons but the main reason is your ability to research and examine car is very limited and that results in disappointment in quality and function.
Hey I'm not a rocket scientist but I can tell you the difference between mikum and the other place don't need you to tell me me you're definitely gonna pay more money for a lot of stuff Because they're just blowing up and getting bigger and everyone's going to them now
And you should bring a trailer and you look at the rivey when you said you got the kooda from burger trailer and you got the rivey from Mika so which one is it here now
In my opinion, you overpaid for the Cuda. By about $10000, you would have had. I don't know, in my opinion. That Kuta isn't worth that money. I'm sorry if it was a matching numbers. Kuta, no matter what the engine, then it would be worth that kind of money. In my opinion it just isn't
Well, I have a car for sale, but to just anyone. It's a V6, but it's the last one to roll off the make line. 2002! Pontiac firebird. She was on tour from 2002 to 2004 to different dealerships. Started in Charlotte and ended in Charlotte where she was sold off the show room floor. She needs work, engine is not original, up the upper intake manifold is. Driveshaft is also not original, I replaced it with a one piece. Which came from the Camaro the engine came from. It's been rebuilt and has 44k miles on engine.
🔥"RM28"🔥 1970 DODGE CUDA!!!!BABY!!!!
I like your honesty on your prices and buying experience
Legit cars, great buying/selling info, a wrench mic, fun graphics, a key and peele sketch = amazing video!
Keep up the good work fellas.
Excellent breakdown and peak "behind the curtain" of the purchase of a giveaway car.
Dealing with Mecum sounds horrible and way too many fees. Sounds like a bit like they just screw everybody on both sides of the sale. Also: That Cuda in NOICE!
Bring a trailer sounds like the way to go
I've purchased 2 vehicles on Bringatrailer in the past year. Both experience's were fantastic with zero complaints!! Timmy C Arizona

I’ve sold 3 cars through Mecum. I walked away with what I expected or more in all cases. It was a great experience.

The Cuda is sweet. But I am still hoping on winning the 69 Chevelle.
Both of these cars are very cool!
Thanks for the vid, helpful. Riv is gorgeous.

love that RestoMods has the right taste 💯
Maplemotors has some muscle cars in & out constantly ya might find a deal that's worthwhile

I went to the March Mecum Auction. I put some videos up of it on my youtube.
I would never buy a car without seeing it up close.Unless you have a big WALLET and you don't care about getting ripped off
Thinking you also pay an additional state specific amount should you want to drive the vehicle home to another state!
Thanks for the info… that’s why I joined # RESTOMOD 👋🏼😎
RestoMods- Deserve to win those two cars for the work that they put into the cars for subscribers a chance to win a RestoMod.
Maple Motors, Hendersonville TN is one of the best places to buy an old car, hot rod and other
Bring A Trailer also has premium listings that last 10 days.
1965 Look like the green hornet love it
I bought a 66 GTO on BAT and the car was BETTER THAN Advertised - YES I DID NOT GET RIPPED OFF ! I could easily make money reselling but I'm a enthusiast and not a FLIPPER lol
Does the Cuda have Stacey David/ Dave Kindig door handles or no handles at all (electric door openers)?
Shaved handles with electric poppers, and shaved rear view mirrors. We will be making some changes :)
Buick looks excellent
that cuda is badass for sure....takeaway form vid....dont buy from mecum unless you want the experience and it is the only option b/c they will dig deep lol
BoT auctions end up selling way way to expensive. People pay big time on that site. Mechem you better have the car inspected first FYI.
What are you guys going to do to 1970 Cuda , New paint , black maybe . Just to get her ready for me
I believe we're going to retouch the paint up but keep it as the same design; as well as get some upgrades to the wheels/tires and exhaust. There's some more updates on the newer video: ruclips.net/video/-iWllEmTjIU/видео.html

Love that cuda.
So Chris…… Wutcha goona do with yer new red Buick ?
Undecided as we're not sure when we would be able to run it for a sweepstakes; it may be a shop car we mess around with/test things on for a bit
Does Restomods restore cars and trucks for the general public.
Not at this time, we stay super busy just building the sweepstakes cars.
