  • Take a look at Red Flag 19-1 in early February 2019; go back in time with original glass plate negatives depicting Milwaukee Railroad steam locomotives and crews. Watch Bob Hoover in his classic yellow P-51, and commemorate a half century since the first Boeing 747 flight. Thanks for watching. Have you subscribed to the Airailimages Channel on RUclips?

Thanks for the memories. I watched Bob Hoover and Old Yellar start many of the Reno Air Races. I finally got to meet him at Sun-N-Fun Lakeland FL at one of his last airshows in his Shrike Commander. A wonderful guy and talked to me like he had known me for years.

Awww yes I remember that first 747 flight, watched it live on our black/white TV broadcast by a local TV station oooh so many years ago. and visited the Museum of Flight many times and looked it over up close and personal. was never there the few times it was open to view inside, never had anything in the interior but test equipment and stations, glad to see they finally repainted it and kept it original paint scheme and it is now under cover. Seen it many times over the years flying in and out of Boeing field, worked under the flight path for 25 years and saw it many times.

Yes -- it was a prominent feature in Seattle skies back then. Thanks for watching and commenting.

As a note for future videos like the portion on Red Flag could you perhaps put a crawl with the name of each aircraft. My days of aircraft identification are long gone for these 70+ year old eyes. Thanks for a great video. Love the old rail and aircraft pictures.

Thanks for commenting. Here is a list, in sequence, of the aircraft in this Red Flag video: F-16, A-10, F/A-18, F-22, A-4, EA-18 and F-22 formation, F-22, F-22, EA-18, F-35, and Royal Air Force Airbus Voyager tanker/transport. Hope that helps!

Brought back some great memories from my childhood, grew up near a rail yard in Toledo, Ohio. Look forward to watching your videos. God bless.

What I thought interesting about the old train photos, was the age of almost everyone in the photos....age and experience go hand in hand.......

Yes -- the older I get, the more friends from older generations are dying, and I miss their wisdom and practical knowledge. Thank you for watching and commenting.

Thank you for sharing with us. Have you seen Peter Jackson’s WW1 film, They Shall Not Grow Old? Not only is it excellent, he details the software and techniques used to bring 100 year old film and stills to life. You may want to see if post can help some of the older images such as the P-51 footage.

Have seen excerpts of Jackson's amazing film. Basically, the ability to achieve that level of restoration is beyond our capabilities (and budget!), but we do research ways to improve old footage, and will keep looking at ways to bring ever better footage to our products.

A great magazine issue! I've plodded the trail of the Mississippi train routes and others among Wisconsin as an employee of a company that shuttled engineers and conductors among trains and facilities. It is interesting to see what was in relation to what is now.
On another note: Are you satisfied with your live mic audio? I'm just asking because I can hear room for improvement as an audio engineer that won't be out of reach to achieve. Let me know if I can help in any way.

I'm never satisfied with my audio, but I'm dealing with a budget, so will be happy to hear what you have to say. I tried a condenser mic that picked up way too much room noise, so have switched to a dynamic mic that is much more directional, and gives a flatter tone. Since the program you watched/heard, I have just bought a FetHead inline mic preamp; haven't had a chance to test it yet.
