Woeaaahhhhh the bats story sound scary 😲 Are they 'protected animals' in Italy too ? Here they are so you can't just "remove" them , we have a small one living here for years , sleep somewhere on the side of our house but only shows up late in the evening or very early in the morning ,they are very useful, but not the dream companion in your bedroom 😅 The dogs are so beautiful grown up and such wonderful company . Lots of good luck with your ongoing building project 🍀🍁
The bats must have been wondering, “who are these squatters who have moved into our house?” Now Mikke needs to build some beautiful bat houses for your property so the bats can continue to help with those pesky mosquitoes. Also, for your health, please lightly dampen the dust before you sweep. I love the kitchen chest with the box lid - very smart design. Your new bed design is fantastic - great use of joinery.
Dampening the dust! That sounds genius, will for sure try that when we sweep through the bottom floor :D I can also recommend protecting your hair. If there is cement and lime in the dust you basically have a recipe for concrete. Also bat houses! Thanks for the inspiration
Hey you guys...I'm enjoying your videos about this adventure of living off grid so much! I'm with you, I think I could "rough it" and camp out for awhile as I was building & finishing my home, but I would draw the line with bats as well! Yuck. How long until you get that window put in downstairs? Could you tarp it off temporarily? Might not keep them out though. Hang in there, so proud of you two. I can't wait for 2-3 years down the road and you're enjoying your life in the country, and you remember the night with the bats & the howling dogs! You're going to have such wonderful stories to share with your children. :) Hang in there though, "one day at a time" as the saying goes. Thanks for sharing with all of us ~ we're all enjoying it so much.
What a beautiful bed!! My Dad was a wordworker as well so I can appreciate the work and artistry that went into that!!! The bats🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇 would have been scary!!!
I've been told building a bat house and placing it up high in a tree will help with bats. They would prefer the bat house over your house. What a wild evening for you! I'm glad you are all safe.
years ahead looking back...how many adventures contained in this epic adventure of making your own home1...I love the bed!! what craftsmanship. sending all four of you Love and Light ✨✨✨
Congrats with your new beautiful house🎉 me and my wife are watching the knitting on your channel, so Nice to see your partner Mikke also on the channel he Brings some testo to the videos and thats Nice 😊. Kindely regard from Abigail & David👍 from Norway
Whoa, bats! Funny you never saw any guano (bat poop) to give you a heads up. Anyway, I'm riveted to your adventure now, can't wait for the next installment. Kudos on the whole bed frame, so cool to see the joins. Sorry you couldn't sleep in it, but definitely a good move to leave. Hope you made it home safely!
OMG that is crazy, perhaps you can put netting over the window opening, until you can get a glass window for it? We had a similar thing happen, only with mosquitos we were camping in Canada, though we had a tent, my husband and I decided we needed to leave because the netting was covered with them, and we knew when we got up to pee in the night, we would be miserable! I love the bed!
Hello from Olympia Washington. You both are so clever! My husband built our house and garage all by himself. He did everything except the guys who helped with the basement. You will be so proud when you are finished. Hope it goes faster than the years it took us. Good luck.
🦇 😮😮😮😮. I was picturing how exhausted and ready for bed you must have been… and laughing at the difficulties mounting a mosquito net just right (been there before, I get it😅)…. And then bat invasion 😱. Who would have thought?? I once spent a very uncomfortable night in a cave with some bats. I mean, they left to go out hunting and then we left as they came back. But it was their cave. We were intruding. I am very curious and a tiny bit worried for you how you will make it respectfully clear to the bats that this is now your house. They must find a new place. Is it like with bees? You make them a new home nearby and have them go there?? Oh my. Good luck, keep us posted! Maybe one of your viewers is a bat expert??
Your bed looks fantastic! I think those bats need a new 'house', now you are going to live in the place they were used to. Maybe you can build some bat-boxes for them and put those at the outside of your new home?
