I was born in 2000's, I had less to no idea about Sridevi ji until she passed away. I watched Lamhe and I fell in love with her acting. She has done 300 films in her 50 years career. Do you know, Jurassic Park was offered to her first. She put the offer down, why I don't know, I think because she had other movies, but I wish she had done it. As far as I remember, I was once watching RUclips videos regarding movie offers Sridevi ji turned down, and I was shocked with the names in it. The career defining films of other actresses like Darr (Juhi Chawla), Beta (Madhuri Dixit - Dhak Dhak song), Dil toh pagal Hai (Madhuri Dixit), Baazigar (Both Kajol and Shilpa Shetty - Sridevi ji was offered a double role) and Mohra ( Raveena Tandon- Tip Tip Barsa Pani)... and many more were first offered to Sridevi ji, or atleast her name was associated with them as per the descriptions. She refused Darr because she felt Shah Rukh Khan's character was more prominent, and she even asked the director to give her Shah Rukh's role instead of Juhi's. She won the Filmfare award for best actress for the movie. The movie is Yash Raj Chopra sir's personal favourite and internationally acclaimed. The song is fun, a must watch. 2) PARBAT SE KAALI GHATA - CHANDNI This song is also about rain, but much more romantic. Sridevi ji in white attire looks heavenly. This National Award Wining movie was a blockbuster musical. Sridevi ji won the best actress for Chaalbaaz that year. Had Chaalbaaz not released that same year, Sridevi ji would have won for Chandni as well. The movie has Sridevi ji written in every frame. Yash Raj Chopra was so impressed by her impeccable performance that he offered her Lamhe. He knew no one but Sridevi ji could perform that challenging role effortlessly and perfectly, and she did. 3) DANCE INSTRUMENTAL - CHANDNI If you want to check out Sridevi ji's expertise in dance, you should check it out. There aren't any lyrics, but it has classical music by music maestro Shiv Hari. This is Tandav, a form of Indian Classic dance associated with Lord Shiva and lord Nataraj. Sridevi ji looks like a white swan. Truly spectacular. 4) AA MERI JAAN - CHANDNI Sridevi ji is queen of expressions. She expressed every emotion so vividly in such small spans and frames - its just extraordinary. The song encapsulates pain in Sridevi ji's heart as she and Rishi sir see the situations completely changed. It has pathos, and Lyrics are just beautiful. Sridevi ji tries to cheer Rishi sir up but he is too broken to be merry. She finds herself sad, often too shattered within to impart any glee to Rishi sir. Both the actors did their jobs well. And plus point, the song has rain in it, too. I personally like the first stanza lyrically and third part visually (after the dancing hallucination). Do check it out as well. The emotions on screen and chemistry of the actors will successfully convey the message to you. I hope you like my suggestions. That was a mere media hype. There is no comparison between the two. Sridevi's body of work is way way more than Madz and that too across multiple languages. Also, Sridevi was a much more versatile actress than Madhuri. There is a reason why Madhuri has struggled with her comebacks because she is just not that great of an actress, a great Dancer though but doesn’t quite have the skill to essay complex characters. Sridevi on the other hand could almost transform into any character like a chameleon.

Sridevi wasn't offered Dil Toh Pagal Hai. It was made keeping in mind Madhuri Dixit. SRK was casted afterwards and Karishma much later

Correction: Last bollywood empress (so far) was Madhuri Dixit, not Sridevi, Sri was the second last one. Its common fact that sri and Madhuri were the two last FEMALE SUPERstars of hindi cinema. Sridevi fans NEVER hesitate to discredit Madhuri since 1989 when she got her first big break, to even know, even after Sridevi's death.

. I grew up in farm and now living in New York. The amount of fan following she has in farm area as well as in NY. No actress can have following like that . My uncle who doesn’t watch movies but have watched most Sri Devi movies. It says a lot . Madhuri is great but Sri Devi is prolly the best actress Bollywood has ever produced.
