If you see at 00:46 the nga tui beak and throat are moving but no sound is recorded. According to Wikipedia, they can make noise above human and consumer equipment struggle to detect.

We have flowering cherry trees. Every spring we have dozens of the birds show up in the early morning to feed.

I think they learned that from R2 D2. and that's very plausible because there is another tropical bird species other bird that replicates all the ambient sounds it heres, like children crying or traffic even logging tools like chainsaws and tractors, and it sounds just like them.

I wonder how old the fledglings are when they find their voices?!

It would be great to see a video of various tui taken in different parts of NZ. That one, for instance, is making a repeated sound none of the tui make around where I live.
There must be a variety of tui “dialects”.

Great idea ! I have also noticed variations in their sounds from year to year .

I've never noticed any repeated calls made by multiple tui, but the individual sounds that make up a call may be something that's region-specific.
Tui in Wellington seem to use a distinct set of sounds even if the calls never repeat, but they use different sounds in any videos I look up of them.
