      @@brittemiller8939 *"...religion is not indoctrination..."*
Religion is probably the finest example of indoctrination. Where you are born usually determines which God you will follow. The strength of your belief is mostly determined by your social interactions with religious family, friends and authority figures and the depth of their projected beliefs upon you. Your social constructs such as churches and schools embed the required beliefs even further. All this happens when you are young and naive so by the time you are able to think critically it's usually too late because you now hold a set of fantastic beliefs evidenced mostly by faith. It's one of the reasons why creationism is not allowed to be taught in schools anymore because it's indoctrination of a false narrative.

@@harryjohnson615 A lot of families have atheist parents and gaurdians these days. And a lot more who call themselves christian yet dont even mention God to their children much. The whole point youre making that people are embedded with beliefs is pretty much invalid I think. But anyways I wanna get personal, ask yourself what you truly live for... 9 times out of 10 atheists would say for personal gain. But if thats really all we live for is the perfect job, wife, or house, then life becomes literally meaningless. If the Bible is not true it is undoubtedly the greatest book ever written to battle and conquer depression, addiction, self-destructive behavior.

There isn't a single person from any kind of religion who has had an encounter with a God. Anything you think you know about God has been taught to you.
      *"...truly live for..."*
My family, friends and acquaintances. It's about the relationships formed, the bonding, the common experience we are all part of. When you are close to death, you probably won't be thinking about your personal gains or even your God, all you will have is your memories experienced with your loved ones.
      *"...9 out of 10...personal gain..."*
I hear that a lot from religious types whilst leading their own opulent lifestyles with flash cars and palacial dwellings. Being driven by personal gain is a human attribute and nothing to do with what ever belief system one ascribes to. Take note of the wealth obtained by the world's churches whilst priests stands there holding gold crosses as millions of children die from starvation and poor sanitation.
      *"...literally meaningless..."*
When a man considers the words of a highly contentious book to give more meaning to his life than that of family and friends then I think that says more about him than it does me for being an atheist.
      *"...destructive behaviour..."*
That's a weak position because the Bible is littered with commands and statements justifying destructive atrocities.

I work with mentally ill children and the scary amount of mental illness amongst adolescents is not natural and a big part of it is by certain daily function (for example, forcing children to study subjects, that they are not interested in every day for 8-10 hours,

Brain in a lot of ways, robbing them of their creativ thinking and taking away the energy that they might need to find peace and just enjoy living. The second part about the lense identifying obstacles in the surrounding, is something that the human brain is supposed to do on its own and learn from, not sure in which way that might have an effect on people’s development but I guess well just have to wait.

One fear I have with this technology is how much information we choose to share. It is entirely conceivable this technology links to social media and a complex AI can feed accurate information about someone's sexuality, political beliefs, religion, citizenship status, etc... The potential is to liberate humanity, or enslave it.

Recognizing a human with his name and profession? C'mon guys. These are definitely unnecessary and more like "suspicious", as this technology can easily destroy your privacy and others, changing our lives to the worse. I love technology and cat wait to see where it goes (hopefully not exploited by the corrupt), and would LOVE something like this (well, better than this but great proof of concept). Think of the Translation app from our phones today where a foreign language, even foreign character sets - are replaced by English (or whatever your preferred language is) visually and near instantly! You’d be able to walk around a foreign city and see all the signs and stores and menus and everything in your native language so you never have to feel lost or overwhelmed! Security Guards could link in to sensors in say an airport and “see” who might have guns or other weapons, etc that scanners detect…link to security camera networks and follow a suspect based on information provided by the cameras fed to your system even tho you are observing from a different viewpoint. Combine with other technology and no more false arrests or shooting the wrong person as instant ID would show you the person you’re about to do something to isnt who you thought they were…children detected in the automobile, do not fire, Combine with Road and Radar and traffic cameras so you can “see” an accident up ahead (even though your smart car was already aware and automatically slowing down and taking an alt route), etc etc. Sure, sounds all Sci Fi right now, but a lot of these technologies already exist in one form or another, a few more years of advancement, tying them together and with something like a working version of the contacts shown would be a game changer. As always, technology isnt good or bad, depends on the person/organization using it (at least until AI decides its own course of action). Interesting times ahead!!!

Therefore, if a person has received optogenetic gene therapy, the metalenses can be used for neuromodulation / brain-computer interface with no need for brain implant. That includes the ability to introduce false memories or deletion of real memories, behavioral control, etc.

Sarif was right about one thing. It's in our nature to want to rise above our limits. Think about it. We were cold, so we harnessed fire. We were weak, so we invented tools. Every time we met an obstacle, we used creativity and ingenuity to overcome it. The cycle is inevitable... but will the outcome always be good? I guess that will depend on how we approach it. These past few months, I was challenged many times, but more often than not, didn't I try to keep morality in mind, knowing that my actions didn't have to harm others? Time and time again, didn't I resist the urge to abuse power and resources simply to achieve my goals more swiftly? In the past, we've had to compensate for weaknesses, finding quick solutions that only benefit a few. But what if we never need to feel weak or morally conflicted again? What if the path Sarif wants us to take enables us to hold on to higher values with more stability? One thing is obvious. For the first time in history, we have a chance to steal fire from the gods. To turn away from it now - to stop pursing a future in which technology and biology combine, leading to the promise of a Singularity - would mean to deny the very essence of who we are. No doubt the road to get there will be bumpy, hurting some people along the way. But won't achieving the dream be worth it? We can become the gods we've always been striving to be. We might as well get good at it.
