So I guess this is the end? Although the gameplay was very minimal for these, I still enjoyed the substories. My favorite one is probably Halara's, mainly because it felt the most complete with story and gameplay. This one is, surprisingly, a close second. It is the shortest of them all, but Yakou is one of my favorite characters in this game and it was nice to see more of his background. Plus, the things that occur in this particular chapter make me very hopeful for the sequel if there ever is one. Anyway, hope you enjoyed all the DLC and Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE as a whole!
If there will be a sequel please make less corny villians and show us killers side as well kodaka sensei. People getting offscreened in a visual novel makes game worse then it should be. I reallt hope for a sequel tho. Also ty for your videos man you really help poor people that does not live in prıper countries like me. You really saved my day multiple times with your videos. Ty
I obviously won't be telling you what to like or not to like, but for me Vivia deserves a special mention. His DLC was a bit of an insight into his character, even if it wasn't a mystery being solved. While it is gloomy and less emotional, edgy at times even, it was the most fitting and unique one. Gameplay-wise it was questionable and lacking, but the character and story going hand in hand is, to me, sufficient to cover it up. It also reinforces Yakou's character. Halara's was a little boring. All in all... It was just the most basic MDA/Danganronpa case, there was nothing else there. It wasn't goofy and comedic like Desuhiko, absurd and realistic like Fubuki, character-heavy and weirdly uplifting like Vivia, or "final" and revealing like Yakou. Maybe it's expected because Halara is the most detective one of them all but it's still nothing that unusual. In other words, I just hope you didn't skip out on Vivia. In any case, thanks for making the videos on the game and for your content in general!
@@misterjudge Vivia's chapter was up before this one. So I didn't skip anything, haha. Like I said already though, I enjoyed all of them. Sure, if you want to go by story only, you can make different cases. And these chapters served their purpose which was to put more focus on the other characters. If these were free, I think people could be less critical of them overall. However, as paid content, it's all lacking and Halara's stood out since it felt more complete and a good extension of the game since it was most similar to the actual game. So that's why I picked Halara and in no way does that mean I disliked everything else.
@@justonegamr Oh, sorry, I didn't mean skip like "not play", I guess I worded it wrong. I just meant that some people might find Vivia's DLC boring because it's 90% dialogue but I find it to be a good thing in Vivia's case, which is why I wanted to make a case for that DLC to be noticed. Fair enough, I understand your reasoning for liking Halara's DLC better now. I may have come off as a little too serious and critical in my reply, but nah, I just thought that maybe you didn't like other DLCs as much and I can understand why that could be the case, even if you do actually like them. I very much agree on them being lacking for paid content, though. I was expecting something bigger than that, but oh well, for those who don't want to miss out but don't want to pay for that, we have you to watch. Regardless, thanks for the reply and clarification!
@@misterjudge All good, I knew what you meant and made a slight joke about it. If Yakou didn't get his own chapter, then for sure, Vivia would've been my second or even first. I would say that at least his chapter reveals more about him that we didn't get in the main game (like Yakou's), which I really liked. While the others just further hammered in the things we already knew about them. Not that that's a bad thing. All in all, this game featured a great cast of characters, and I still want more even after all these substories.
Going back to when we first see him in ch 0 to then reading his novel story after completing the main game and now seeing this dlc backstory - Yakou is such a well done written character. The feels are real man.
Man, Yakou is such a tragic character. He was a broken man who after meeting his future wife, whom was one of his childhood friends all along, had another chance at a successful life, until she was killed for her knowledge by Dr. Huesca. He was consumed by hatred and grief that he wanted revenge on the doctor, but that wouldn't have made his pain go away, which is why he planned on not surviving afterwards. I also noticed that he's wearing her glasses after she died, even though he didn't need them before and can probably see better without them, but wants something to remember her by with him at all times. This was the best DLC side story, no bout adout it.
While I love the twist in the end, my mind is filled with the daunting question of the following fact: our Yakou here isn't the same one from 5 years ago. He supposedly killed the original human version of him. Knowing he is a homunculus, how would he feel about his existence, his identity? The memories and personality being a copy of the real Yakou.
This will most likely be a topic that will be discussed in the sequel, since we'll most likely be playing as Kurumi.(or possibly both her and Yuma in a sort of AI:NI type of style) That's my speculation I have no proof. Though it also possible the pill Yakuo receives here could play a role in the sequel as well. Though we still don't know what the sequels plot will focus on. Though hopefully we'll get more info regarding the homunulous.
@99999drake most likely both Yuma's/Kurumi's part would be unique to both the characters. Kurumi could most likely investigate using both Shinigami and her informat skills, while Yuma uses his forte. Perhaps both could run into new/old detectives but only Yuma could borrow their fortes, while the Detectives just help Kurumi. I think both could be fun. Though we could just play as one of them. We still don't know who's actually going to be the protag yet, since nothing’s been said about the potential sequel. I'm just suggesting potential ideas that could work for a sequel.
I was surprised when I saw Yakou's DLC story begin with him being zombified, I was like "they're actually going to go there?" it turned out to be sweet and hopeful but, if you think about it... so, when his wife gave him an old hand-crafted childhood detective badge, did she put the anti-zombie pill inside it at that time? Could it be, by having worked at the lab she knew that everyone was a homonculus and anticipated Yakou having a potential use for it someday? Hmm, but if this was after Blank Week Mystery, she would've become a zombie instead of dying. When she appears to zombie-Yakou, how can she give him new info if she's dead? Imagine if Yakou wants the pill to be mass-produced, as a zombie he'd have to get the attention of a scientist or one of the detectives and point at the pill... I guess it'd be way less trouble to just eat it, but think of all the zombies it could've saved

It would be very wholesome if this was true in the second game
