  • We had the opportunity to visit Lauren Carlini in the most recent season at Aydin B.Sehir. Since a young age, Lauren has seen herself becoming an Olympian. She has been a key member of USA Volleyball for years, but in the summer leading up to the Tokyo games, she was cut from the Olympic roster. Lauren was unbelievably open and honest about her experience dealing with complex emotions, how she overcame her self-doubt and disappointment, and the important lessons she will carry with her going forward. We admire Lauren immensely for the player she is and even more the admirable woman she is off the court.

If i wasn't a Carlini fan before, I sure am now - really admire that she swallowed her pride, got back in the gym and worked her ass off for the US NT. Rooting for her for Paris!

Dear Lauren; you may be American but you are very special to us, we love you very much. Greetings from Istanbul. By the way, we miss Michelle Bartsch Hackley very much.

American volleyball players are all very good. We are used to seeing them in different leagues, now it will be exciting to see them against each other in the LOVB League. I'm curious about LOVB.

Swallowing your pride and embarrassment on not making the team when you believe in yourself is a hard pill! Just be a beast and grind away!!! Take no prisoners

The Tokyo Team won for a reason. Hancock came in to serve, Poulter is slightly taller & better blocking. Hopefully this will be Carlini's time to make the Olympic roster. She was key even in the 2019 Olympic Qualification. She has the all around skills, defense, and quick sets that set her apart from anyone on the US Setter Roster. I even believe Jenna Gray who won a championship in Brasil is also worthy as back up. Very excited for Paris!

Oh damn LOVB is eating and didn't even start! I never understood why carlini wasnt on the team...during that year and prev years I saw her as the main setter for USA, so I was really shocked. I was also expecting plummer to make it. I hate how restricted the olympics are but I guess its to level the playing field for smaller countries that do not have the luxury of a deep bench?

With Poulter coming back from her knee injury, Carlini could possibly take the second setting spot. Hancock has been doing great thus far but hopefully they recognize Carlini’s talent and her immense contribution to the team 🤞

She's amazing back in 2021,but can't deny that Micha and Poulter experience were more relevant to be chosen.

They did that to Nicole Fawcett as well in 2016 that’s why they only got bronze that time. They selected to bring 3 setters to Rio which is their worst decision. They chose the pretty players like Carli Lloyd (worst setter team USA had) and that opposite Murphy which played horribly during the olympics. If they had Fawcett, they would’ve beaten Serbia and made to gold match. I hope this time Carlini gets chosen for Paris. She and Poulter are the best setters for the team.

It's nit Hancock it was the same first year setter that then was out. Karch is getting all kinds of complaints, as well USA volleyball. Paulter should have never been on the first string team.
It was Hancock that carried USA to Gold. It should have just as it should be now Hancock Carlini.

Poulter was best setter of the tournament. Maja was ofc the best but Poulter did her job.

poutler was the best setter, hancock's serve alone is extremely valuable...she is also the most aggressive setter....to me carlini is probably the best blocker and best defender of the 3....its a really hard decision

Hancock is good but she’s too short to be an effective blocker when needed. I hope Carlini makes it to Paris.

That may be true, but what some setters give up in height they make up in other areas.

Hancock better server...shes consistently been one of the best servers in the Italian league. also, both of them can be in Paris.

I also rooted for Carlini to be an Olympian (and still today) but I felt Hancock brought more stability. Carlini may make some better sets at times but being a setter is more than having great sets. I feel like Hancock draws out the best in her hitters with her setting style

    • @heehman

That’s weird…bc she DID help them win a gold medal at the Olympics. 🤔🤡

Hancock is the best server on the entire team and the most agressive setter at the net....she really is not fun to play against lol. Carlini can block and has the best defense. Poutler has best tempo and location. Its hard choice
